We were standing in line at the mobile post office this afternoon outside of SweetBay talking with others also in line. Everyone just loves living here in TV. One women asked if I ever heard about The Pearly Gates...it went something like this (I hope I don't mess it up),

A couple from the Villages dies and they both go up to Heaven.

St. Peter meets them at the Pearly Gates and asks, "And where are you two from?".

The couple replies, "The Villages!".

St. Peter shrugs and says, "You're not going to like it here".

We purchased a home in 2006 and live here fulltime. The best feature of The Villages are its residents. There has only been two, perhaps three people, during that time I have met and cared not to be around...but then I haven't met buggyone in person yet:1rotfl:

This is our only home. We travel extensively in our motor home for four or five months during the Summer and early Fall, but we consider ourselves full-time Villagers. Life is GOOD - without a doubt, we have the best of all worlds.

Yes to all 3- We own, we rent it out, and we desperately wish we lived there. Counting the time down til we can move in and not rent it out. Until then we can enjoy what everyone else is saying about how great it is and look at the pictures until they are 'dog'eared from our lifestyle visit.

I rent but for the full 12 months. Haven't decided whether I will buy or continue to rent for 2013. It partially depends on if what I want and can afford to buy is on the market come August or Sept of this year. BUT I do know I am definitely a FROG. I'm not moving out of "the Bubble" except in a box.

and 3 days later, we decided to buy the CYV we had rented when we were told that it was for sale. It has been one of life's blessing for us to be able to spend Spring and Fall in TV when the weather is sooooo glorious, the people are so friendly and the shopping is so plentiful and varied. If "you" would let us stay longer, we would love to spend winter here too, but for now I don't want to give up Sept. or May weather. And Christmas with the grandkids is always something we look forward to. So snowflaking works for us for now, and TOTV makes it easier to stay in the loop.

We visited in January '12, came back last week and purchased a lot. We'll come back in March to the Design Center and get started building.

We will spend 8-9 months here and 3-4 months back to our other home in Harbor Springs, MI during the summer. We have done this for the seven years we have lived in Orlando so have never experienced a summer in FL.

We have been back in Orlando since Monday and find we are missing The Villages already.

Did a Lifestyle Visit

TF, don't be concerned with congestion. If the amount of people and traffic get to you just become a home body for a bit! That's why you should find the home of your dreams and enjoy it. We are building a pool so that if it gets too bad out there we can just sit by our pool and drink Iced tea and not have to fight the crowds. We'll have our friends come to us! Just a thought. From what I hear the winter months are the worst. Best of luck.

We visited on a LSP in Aug 2010 for 5 days then returned home to Massachusetts and after a few weeks of checking the villages.com site and knowing basically what we wanted, we bought and passed papers in Sept 2010.
We come and go quite often to The Villages, so I guess we our considered "Flakes". But eventually we will become "Birds" until................

God only knows when? :) Love living in The Villages and being around our Mass. friends that are living there and our new neighborhood friends and acquaintances.

My friends took me to TV for my first visit in 2010 while one of them was house hunting They got me hooked on this place -- thank you very much. In rented twice in TV during 2011. I will be back renting in June. I would move to TV tomorrow but I'm a younger wannabee... For all the frogs. snowbirds and snowflakes you are so lucky to be able to call TV your home, be it your primary home or a seasonal home. Please keep the light on for all of us TV wannabees.

We almost moved there in 2006 as I was looking at a management position with the, then under construction Barnes and Nobel but then Hubby (who had been laid off in Atlanta) got a position back here in the Seattle area so we moved back to Mercer Island and sunk all our money in a house that was suppose to appreciate so we could retire in 2011.

Have been wishing ever since to move there but the losses on our home here make it impossible to retire now and maybe never.

The people on this site are so funny that I check it out when I need a lift and to allow me to dream.
