Who is your Internet Service Provider?

I'm about ready to give ComCast the heave-ho,

We've had Comcast for six months and only had one minor problem--last week our internet (and landline, but not our cable TV) went out on a Thursday night. They were not able to schedule a tech to come out until Sunday morning, so two days with no service. Turns out it was a part on the outside of our house which had gone bad. Overall we have been pleased with Comcast and have not experienced all the horror stories related to their customer service.

We have centurylink for Internet just because we had it for years in NC and were happy with it. Didn't like the Prism TV so switched to Direct and are happy with it so far

Been with Comcast for about 9-10 years and have been very happy with them. I love my internet speed and their tech support has been very good the few times I ever had to call them. They provide Norton Internet Security free for 3 computers in the home. Nothing is perfect and we are all going to experience problems of one kind or another in this life. Comcast has given me no reason to jump ship.

I have been with ClearLink and then Comcast since I have been here - 10 years - and have never had a problem. Besides they are one of the few that provide web space if you want to set up a web site.

I'm a part timer at the moment, so I've gotten the comcast basic tv and internet, but the price has really gone up (doubled) in 4 years and the downstream is so slow it won't play a video clip (not really a big deal that way, but it's very s-l-o-w). I hate to pay added cash, without exploring others.

JohnN, Comcast offers various levels of bandwidth for Internet. Of course, the faster speeds are more expensive, which you mentioned is a problem.

One more thing, if you own your cable modem and it is "old," downloads might improve if you buy a new one. I don't want to get too technical, but Comcast supports DOCSIS 3.0. I have Comcast and I own my own cable modem. A few months ago, I replaced an older cable modem (which supported DOCSIS 2.0) with a new one (which supports DOCSIS 3.0). The improvement in download speeds is noticeable and dramatic.

I'm not very computer savvy. How do you know what your cable modem supports? The only thing I see on my modem is SBG900.

Comcast often offers special deals to entice NEW customers. If you have Comcast, sometimes there is a financial advantage to putting Comcast "to sleep" when you leave, and thereby not paying reinstall fees. Sometimes, instead of putting our Comcast "to sleep", we cancel it. Then when we return we qualify for the special deals.

The price is right, has anyone tried them yet?

Bright House is the best. Best customer service and best price. The first year I paid $80.00 a month for cable, phone and internet. The second year it went to $90.00. Have had absolutely no problems. I am not affilitated with BH in anyway. Just a happy customer.
