I was stunned to hear that Whitney Houston died today. What a loss of a great voice! Whether a direct cause or an aftereffect of her drug usage, I have no doubt it had to have played a major role in her death. Regardless, her soaring voice will be missed. May she find peace.

I agree with both of you! A tragic death to a great talent. As with Karen Carpenter, the world will never know what great music could have been and never will! Sad!

This is the first I've heard --- oh my goodness. What a voice. What a loss. I was a huge fan of hers. RIP. Heaven has another angel in it's choir tonight.

I posted this morning that today was a terrible day, with the horrible accident and loss for the community for the young men from Cane Garden; the burying of the beautiful children in Washington State whose dad's ended their life (Josh Powell) and the ending the day with the loss of such a talent and staff, a class act. Why all today I ask?

A troubled soul who had to battle her inner demons for so long. Her singing of The Star Spangled Banner at the Superbowl was the best rendition I have ever heard. Rest in Peace.

"I Will Always Love You" (biggest selling single song of all time) ranks right up there, too.
What a voice !!

Very sad. A great voice has been silenced.
It's ironic how one person can grow up with a clean life and then meet a person who dabbles in drugs and the clean person gets hooked and can't find the where-with-all to get clean again.
Her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl has been recorded and will be remembered along with her other great songs.
RIP - Whitney

Makes me wonder what was missing in her life that made her choose Bobby Brown for a mate and drugs along the way. She was given a great voice at birth which she developed with hard work and training. All wasted on a bum and dope. I know her family must be heart broken.
