View Full Version : Munns or Broward - What would you do?

No, I'm not talking about the ABC program "What Would You Do" with John Quinones, but would like opinions on the following:

When we purchase our home a little more that a year ago, it came with a Home Warranty the sellers bought before selling. I wasn't particularly impressed with it and decided not to renew. We also signed up for service package with Munns when we bought to cover our heat and air system.

I remembered a discussion some time ago about a service called Broward Factory. My recollection is the comments were pretty much positive. I just noticed in the February issue of The Villages Magazine an ad with a discount good til the end of this month on one of their plans.

So we are considering Broward but we're not sure if having Munns (current contract good until next year around this time) and Broward at the same time is a good idea or not. Any input or suggestions on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not knowing what the respective plans specifically covered, my first impression is that unless the plans provided vastly different coverage, I would not buy a second service plan. Additionally, since your Munns service runs for another year, it would seem to be a waste of money to buy another service plan. A month or so overlap, maybe...but only if the Broward discount was considerable. But for an entire year of overlap, not so much.

Sky, I would add "Munns or Broward" to your title. Maybe that'll get more interest.

Not sure if Broward's covers A/C and that's all that Munn's covers, so there may be no or little overlap. Given the quality of the appliances in TV, I think I'd go for it. A big question would be exactly how much you have to pay out-of-pocket for repairs with Broward's. I can't imagine they will cover 100% -- haven't heard of one of these warranty plans that does.

The ad does indicate both AC up to 3 ton and Heat as well as pretty much all major appliances and a little more at a current special price of $183 per year. BTW, we do have coverage for both AC and Heat with Munns. Just after signing up and having things checked out, we saved a bundle because they found found a problem with the AC. We had to pay for labor - probably because it was pre-existing, but IIRC the replacement parts were pretty expensive.

Anybody know off hand what tonnage the AC's are that they install in a Gardenia built in 2007 or in general?

Broward scan cover everything. Had them for five years before TV and have them now. Good company.

I just learned this week that the only way to change the title of a post is to click on the little red triangle above and to the right of your post, and ask admin to change it for you. Cannot do it yourself.

Cannot do it yourself. That's partially true. You can make the change yourself if it's attempted within a unknown limited amout of time following the original post. After that unknown period time, you then have to use the red triangle to request the change be made for you. Guess one would just have to try it first to find out if it can or cannot be done on your own!

Had Broward for six years in Brevard County before moving to TV. Have them now. Far more coverage at a decent premium.

If you send me your AC model number I can probably tell you the size. Our Gardenia built in 2005 has a 3 ton system.

Anybody willing to post a phone number for Broward? I've seen them in the neighborhood and now have need for them, but can't find a number!

Thanks a bunch. Of course, there was an ad in today's Daily Sun, so now I have all the info I needed!

Sounds like a Good Deal!

Question?? What portion of labor and parts do they cover? We have never bought something like this before but just had two major repairs to the A/C unit. Hindsight!!
