What is involved stepwise and costwise to convert a Club Car DS or Precedent from a 4x12 system to an 8x6 system, which as I understand it, would give the greatest range?

Only the Club Car DS is capable of converting to eight six volts.
The conversion for the Precident can only be six eight volts. The work level
Of the Precident varies with the year of the cart, the 2004-2007 1/2 will cost more that the newer units with the electronic console located to the rear of the battery tub.
Now to deal with the costs, the DS gets 8 batteries, re-welding the battery trays, installing a new voltage reducer 48v to 12v, new wiring, new battery fill system, new hold downs, and the cost for the battery core loss (4-12s to 8-6s) approx $1,600.00
The older Precidents kit with wiring harnesses, tub kit, 8v-12v reducer and six new batteries, approx $1,350.00
The newer Precedents approx $1,100.00
