Hard to argue with most of the 25 on this list...
here's #25-Under Adolf Hitler, paranoia was standard operating procedure.
In Nazi Germany, every citizen was a potential threat and everyone had to be constantly watched for suspicious activity.
Of course the exact same thing is happening in America today. Just about anything you do can get you labeled as a “potential terrorist” by the government.
According to a new DHS report, the following are some of the beliefs and ideologies of potential terrorists….
-”fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation)”
-”anti-global”
-”suspicious of centralized federal authority”
-”reverent of individual liberty”
-”believe in conspiracy theories”
-”a belief that one’s personal and/or national “way of life” is under attack”
-”a belief in the need to be prepared for an attack either by participating in paramilitary preparations and training or survivalism”
-”impose strict religious tenets or laws on society (fundamentalists)”
-”insert religion into the political sphere”
-”those who seek to politicize religion”
-”supported political movements for autonomy”
-”anti-abortion”
-”anti-Catholic”
-”anti-nuclear”
And the definition of “suspicious activity” has become so broad in America that it pretty much covers 100% of us. In 2012, the following activities are considered to be “suspicious” by the FBI….
-shielding your computer screen from others
-paying with cash
-acting “nervous”
-using multiple cell phones
-requesting a specific room at a hotel
-traveling with a large amount of luggage
-refusing maid service at a hotel
-staying in your room for too long
-changing your appearance

At least 11 of the above could be included in the definition of a Republican. :icon_wink:

I think he actually made Katz's point. I don't think that's what he meant to do, but it's what he did. It's pretty funny.

I gotta tell ya, the list does sound like the Conservative Oath of Membership. I am not saying its wrong, but Republicans are very close to the list. The majority of conservatives on this forum have argued for many of the thing on the list. If this list is things to watch for when Identifying a terrorist, then we have several right here declaring themselves as Conservatives.

Look under the rocks at DHS and there are a lot of things you won't like - the TSA is the first thing that comes to mind.

The point is that the items on this list are things the government are watching in their hunt for "threats to the government".
This is what the article is illustrating. Much of this list is hardly what most people would consider threats against the stability of the U.S. Government.
Hence, the focus on and the suspicion of it's own citizens, and the resulting crackdown on their freedoms that gave rise to Nazi Germany.

More government equals less freedom, less government equals more freedom.
Kick them all out and start over. Pass the 28th Amendment, google it and see what it says. No more pay raises voted by them for themselves. You want a pay raise, put it on the ballot and WE THE PEOPLE will approve or disapprove, no more tax payer funded full retirement, its PUBLIC SERVICE not a CAREER field. Term limits for senators, represenatives and surpreme court justices. Mandatory retirement at age 75, thats when it time to go home, play with the grandchildren.

I actually feel sorry for those who only have the ability to view the world based on either an R or D pigeon hole.
Such a limited perspective must be really, really boring. Such a limited, narrow, shallow view of life which is much broader and more real!!.

Quotes of Thomas Jefferson:
"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny."
"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."
"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."
"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."
"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government."
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."

I think it is because the government is for the will of the people and so many of us are more for the will of ME ME ME ME. If the government helps someone, then we all pay for it and many of us do not want to help anyone but our own close family. The liberals want to help everyone and then there are those that do not want to help anyone. Who's right and who is wrong.

The problem is that liberals want to help people with no strings attached and do it with other peoples money.
The government helps people to the point they no longer try to help themselves.
If you are a liberal and you want to help people then do it!
You don't need government to help, if that is really what you want to do.
Repubs want to help people to learn how to help themselves, big big difference.
If your really want to help EVERYONE then teach them how to do for themselves not where the mailbox is so they can get their government check.
I also don't believe liberals want to help everyone, just the ones that will vote for them.

Believing something is a process, However translating that belief in the verbal, writtne or physical form is an action. The decisive connector is intent.
I may believe that abortion is wrong. I may even march down Main street with a banner proclaiming my disgust for this procedure, or I may become so inflamed and frustrated with the continuation of this procedure that I burn down an abortion clinic.
The first two acts demonstrate that I am exerting my democratic rights while the latter make me a terrorist.
Investigators must rely on certain criteria/signs as a basis for making sense of things. A person hiding his computer screen may just want to protect his password, etc or he/she may be hiding something else. A trained and experienced investigator would never conclude wrongdoing with this one sign.I have investigated people and situations my entire career for one reason or another utilizing various profiles/criteria and you learn to tread carefully and you learn not to prejudge or snap judgment too quickly lest you end up wih egg on your face, rendering yu ineffective and trustworthy in the eyes of your superiors

Here comes that old standby "more government equals less freedom and less government equals more freedom", again.
With the possible exception of "two plus two equals six", nothing could be further from the truth.
Just how free would you be if there was no national defense, local police, currency, educational system, regulations regarding personal safety, food and shelter safety, etc., etc., etc. ?
This romantic fantasy of freedom not collectively and continually worked and paid for is just that. The arch-conservatives, militias, and other right-wingers who whine endlessly about government oppression are simply leeches living off of the government security and protections others respect and work to improve and maintain.
And finally, the most depressing part is that it isn't just "radicals" and "whackos" who believe the above statement. It's also a number of self-styled 'informed' folks who write here, as well as lots of others around the country.

The point Cologal is to "see the signs". I'm sure there were those in Germany and in greater Europe who scoffed at the notion of what Germany was to become as it carried out it's surveillance and paranoid monitoring of it's citizens.
The point is that those items listed in the OP are what the Obama Administration Homeland Security Dept., under "Big Sister" Janet Napolitano, has decided is maybe indicative of someone who may be guilty of suspicious and possibly subversive actions.
I'm guessing you agree with that assessment?

Personally, I know Richie is a guy who just likes to have a good time with his posts, I do not know notlongnow so I cannot say anything. I believe Katz is probably sitting in her trailer in Ohio dashing her posts off and laughing the whole time. Just a speculation but the vision is there.

Agree they should move. How about Syria where the Government doesn't tell the people what they can do. It just shoots them or blows them up. Might be a happy ending for those who seem to think there is so much wrong with the USA.

First of all I have posted many times on here where I stand politically. So either you have not read my post or don't care what I post. If you have that kind of interest, do a search.
Second, What part of any post I have made would make you think I would want to move from our great country?
I guess someone has to be, I don't know, YOU to be allowed to have an opinion that matters.
Maybe if you don't think we have problems it would be you that needs to live in another country.
So is that your solution to our problems? Identify people who don't believe what you believe and ask them to leave!

Interesting double-standard here.
If a liberal complains about conditions, the conservative says you're free to move where you want - go to Europe or Canada or wherever...
When a conservative complains - it's "why should I move" and "I want to take back America".

OK, I give up. Nobody is understanding the point of the post. No one has any curiosity about the Homeland Security Guidelines.
It wasn't that long ago the same insipid liberals wanted to impeach Bush for the Patriot Act which is far less invasive than these guidelines.
I really thought you would understand the point of the post DJ. It's really disappointing.

Ah yes, I just love the wonderful sources that some of the posters find for their tripe they post. This posting of "25 Signs That America Is Becoming More Like Nazi Germany" is a prime example. It is from a website called Prison Planet.com which is just a mass of conspiracy theories for and from ...those kind of people. Basically, the website is similar to National Enquirer but seems to be more of the conspiracy theory model.
Some of the articles in Prison Planet.com Science and Technology section are: "Microsoft buys eugenics technology from Merck", "Crops are being sprayed with MSG", "Bill Gates funds technology to destroy your sperm", "Proof the cancer industry doesn't want a cure", and "Parasitic fly creates zombie bees".
First, I wonder how people find these sites in the first place and secondly, why post the obvious tripe?
Are they just sitting in their trailer park and have nothing else to do? I have no idea as to this motive.

The New York Slimes and The Washington ComPost are not really doing much journalism anymore. They're too busy covering up what Obama is really doing.
The only real investigative journalism is coming for the alternative media you dismiss because it doesn't fit your Marxist dialog. I don't blame you because I know where you come from on these matters.
Maybe soon you and those who agree with you will be able to silence this media you despise. Maybe all you need is four more years.

This is investigative journalism? No, it is playing to fears of the reader who actually might believe in conspiracy theories.

Yes, you right-wingers have a right, which I respect, to the benefits our country provides. However, please stop hollering about how everything 'government' does erodes your personal liberty. We are in this TOGETHER. Not to have a President fail. Not to have our largest employers, like GM, fail. Not to have our middle class who stimulate our economy fail. And not to have the delicate balances of world affairs fail.
None of this is ridiculous. It's reality.

Do you have proof that the cancer industry doesn't have a cure? I know nothing of the story you're alluding to and haven't looked for it, but so what. I don't assume anything one way or another and you shouldn't either. It's blind faith in b.s. that got this country to the ignominious position it is in today.

WOW, I never noticed before, but you are right, almost all conspiracy theories are owned by right wing extremists, conservatives and republican based news outlets. I wonder if they believe it or it is one more tool to gain support. Well, thats it, I am going to change my affiliation to independent today. The longer I am on this forum, the more embarrassed I become due to being a conservative republican. Between you and D long, my eyes are slowly opening to the truth.

First off, read the Constitution and see what the Founders agreed what the Federal Government should do and not do. Then see what the Federal Government is doing today. No where close to what is Constitutional. Almost all the Departments are not needed as each state could do what they do and do it better.

I wonder if they believe it or it is one more tool to gain support. Well, thats it, I am going to change my affiliation to independent today. The longer I am on this forum, the more embarrassed I become due to being a conservative republican. Between you and D long, my eyes are slowly opening to the truth.
The only one who ever thought you were Republican or Conservative on this forum, apparently, was you. Independent is a good holding place for you until you figure things out.
The crazy thing for me here is that almost no one is truly getting the implications of the Homeland Security Directives except the Conservatives. Liberals are so ready to give up their liberty and their privacy as long as a Democrat tells them it's for their own good. These same sheeple who were outraged by the Patriot Act because the Democrats and the liberal national media told them to, discount this potentially far greater privacy threat as a conspiracy theory or overblown concern.
Apparently you do also. You'll feel better on the other side of the street. That's where your people are, really.

and yet the babble goes on -
Figmo mentions the 28th Amendment (which does not exist) and is a complete pipe dream Proposed 28th Amendment - Urban Legends (http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/government/a/proposed_28th_amendment.htm) and. mentions a derogatory term that I never used.
I know that the 28th Amendment does not exist and will never have a chance of existing. No self loving "career politican" would allow anything like that to ever happen.
You did not use the exact words, but your remark was clear clear enough to be seen through. Don't try to come off PC when you make a statement, say what you mean or don't say anything at all.

Oh, come on guys - You actually think that there was a Homeland Security Directive that said all the things in the Prison Planet.com listing of 25 Signs That America is Becoming Like Nazi Germany? Get real. Conspracy theorists - unite! They are upon us and Homeland Security is putting out lists.

If you have a report that conflicts with the OP, please provide it or it's just your intuition we have to rely on as to it's authenticity. I don't find that reliable.

Here is the story that started this thread, and unlike what Buggyone says, it didn't originate with PrisonPlanet.com, even if that mattered. It's from a website called EndOfTheAmericanDream.com. It backs up it's observations with news stories you've probably all read, if you anywhere near well read, newswise.
This website's stories are all backed up with links to major media reports to present a new picture in it's totality.
This is only one story. If you find it compelling, click on the icon at the top to go to the home page and read other reports

A lot of the debunking is true but there is one particular area where Congress still has an exemption from the laws the rest of us follow. Apparently, they are allowed to do insider trading. They can execute trades on the stock market based on non-public information - like what will or won't be in a fortcoming law.
This is *not* the way things should be.

The same article appears on many of the conspiracy theory sites. The one Katz had was from Prison Plantet.com but Richie's has the same ones. There are a lot of the right wing extremist sites on the Internet. I would be careful about downloading any of them as some have viruses like a Trojan Horse and all have tracking cookies. However, do what you think is prudent.
