About two months ago we discovered Bella Pizzeria in Lady Lake.

I havn't had pizza or hot sandwiches this good since leaving Chicago in 1993.

They are located at 132 S. U.S. Hwy 27/441 in Lady Lake - @ Lady Lake Plaza.

The owner and head cook is a great guy named Dave. He is also a music minister over at New Song Church in Lady Lake. Tell him that Pastor Ed from Village of Grace sent you over!!

Will have to try. We ate at Bravo pizza on Saturday night and it wasn't our favorite. It tasted like those Chef Boy R D pizzas you put together yourself in the box. Do they still make them????

Everyone comes from the town that makes the best pizza. Your pizza is not my pizza and my pizza is not hers or his.

I miss my Cincinnati pizza. sob.

Tonite I went with two wonderful friends....hello Bill & Brillo....to Mallory CC. We 3 had pizza.

It was NOT Buffalo pizza.....but it was VERY VERY good. I'd give it a 5-star Villages rating.

Buffalo pizza is a different breed....and it a MUST that wings be served with Buffalo pizza.....

....but no need to add Beef on Weck....until the next meal. :)

Honorable Swimdawg,

It's bad enough the other posters haven't had the necessary experience to decide about the best pizza.

But I think you really confused them by mentioning Buffalo wings.

They haven't had them either.

(And let's leave the Beef on Weck till later)

Well said.

That being the case we have what we have and all we can do is find the best "substitute". For us "Frogs" it is harder because we can't go "home" and back to our favorite pizza place.

Pauly's was "our" fav but with them not around Giavani's has become a good sub.

We tried Giavani's pizza once and weren't impressed, Mallory is closer and very good. I will say Giavani's Linguine and red clam sauce is one of the best I've had anywhere. Also their penne Giavani is outstanding. My wife loves their lasagna,

I have to agree. When I left Jax Fl back in the 70s and moved to New Jersey, I could not find a pizza to my liking. Eventually I got to like the one in the local town. When I moved here I was back in the same boat. I liked Snappy's but Pauly's was better. Toscani's is my choice right now.

By chance do you remember Patty's Pizza on Beach Blvd from the 60's and 70's ???

I do and have never been able to find anything Italian even close to the taste... I don't know what ever happened to them as we moved from Jax in 1968.

According to a friend still in Jax, "Patti's was a family restaurant that I think their location just sort of went bad on them and they closed it up. At the time said they might reopen somewhere else but never did. It was a good place."

I liked the place myself.

No.....It's a labor of love that anyone could do if they enjoy cooking as much as I do! Stretch the dough real thin, get the stone to ~450 degrees (I use a inferred laser thermometer) and go light on the toppings. Too many moist toppings will make the crust soggy. My Greek pizza is the best!

Upon arriving, we discovered Bella's is take-out, delivery and catering. Not an eat-in restaurant.

So, we ordered a traditional crust sausage pizza and a salad, waited in the car and brought it home.

Menu has quite a few choices besides pizza, the people were very nice and what we ordered was made fresh. The place was clean and we thought the prices very reasonable.

For pizza, you can choose from 3 kinds of crust, 5 different sauces & cheeses and a myriad of meats, fruits and fresh vegetables.

We may try one again sometime. Gonna explore some more.

This is for the folks who say I have rose colored glasses.

There isn't any La Rosa's Pizza or Donato's Pizza in this area. And because of that, there isn't any ANY excellent Pizza in these parts, i.e. The Villages, Lower Paradise, my home town, does not have excellent Pizza!!!!!!

Excellent Pizza is like the Pizza from your home town.

Now I am going to talk about another local sandwich I would like to try.

All of you Buffaloanians rave about this. I can't find a Kimmelweck roll, which I have figured out is a "bun" with kosher salt and caraway seeds on it. So I may have to bake one, unless one of you is gonna fly one in for me.

Here2stay, bravo. We've lived in 8 states, and NY/NJ pizza is the best ever. I think because mostly it's from small independent shops, as opposed to chains. The folding... the dripping... the exact correct ratio of sauce to cheese. I'm having a meltdown just thinking about it. And so many of the little places, you can walk in and buy by the slice. We had Toscani's pizza w/mushrooms yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. What's nice is that they deliver from their location in the Mulberry Grove Plaza and do so all the way down to our location at Hadley and probably below 466A as well. I asked for a menu on this delivery and was surprised at the extent of the foods and optional choices available. Additionally their home made Italian sausage was quite enjoyable. I'll have to try it in their subs in the future! Even the woman on the phone was surprisingly pleasant when I called to make the order. Try it and IMHO, if you don't like it, you don't like pizza!

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else think the pizzas here are cooked enough? I'm not talking about the crust, but the toppings.
They seem to be warmed, but not cooked. Makes 'em soupy, not chewy.

My ideal pizza has the toppings layered on the sauced pie and the cheese sprinkled last... on top.... then cooked JUST until the cheese begins to show golden bubbles on the surface. THEN it's done.... and the crust is cooked, BUT still bendable underneath... not hard like a board.

My Jersey born Italian neighbor girlfriend laughed and says she would consider that a burnt pizza. Zat true out there?????

If you can find a pizzeria that will grind the sausage, try a sausage and onion pie.

Another one of my recent favorites is eggplant and mushrooms.

My personal favorite is a Mediterranean pizza that I make at home (haven't really found a place around TV yet that compares). My version has feta cheese (sometimes I substitute goat cheese), artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, sauteed spinach, mushrooms, and Cavendar's Greek seasoning. Dang, now I'm hungry.

CappyJon's mediterranean pizza sounds great... I love pepperoni, Canadian bacon, black olives, sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese, feta cheese, spinach. My favorite pizza...Lou Malnati's (Chicago area chain) "Lou" pizza -- it is to die for. The Lou is a deep dish pizza: fresh spinach, mushrooms and sliced tomatoes covered with a blend of mozzarella, romano and cheddar cheese. And if you are observing meatless Fridays in Lent, you can still eat a Lou pizza without feeling guilty! Yum yum!I

Yep, It's really pretty hard to find a bad pizza in NY. Every neighborhood in the city and surrounding area has great pizza places, mostly because the owners are from the city. Everytime I'm in NY I try to talk owners of pizza joints into opening a place near TV. So far, no takers.
When I need a real pizza, it has to be a NY pie. Nothing else will do. Last time up north that was our dinner the first night home, probably will be this time too.
I probably should add that when I speak of NY pizza, I'm referring to the NY City area. That includes nearby areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Most everybody there is from the city anyway. Upstaters have a completely different taste in pizza.

I can't wait until June 1st when the new FLIPPERS PIZZA will open in Spanish Springs. It will be across the street from McCall's Tavern. I have had pizza from their locations in Orlando and Clermont and it was really good. They also have great sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes, but I love their Pizza. Their Lunch Specials are available every day and are really quite a bargain and delicious.

Also from chicago so had to try this place.Would never go again, most frozen pizzas are far better then what we had

:agree:Will have to try. We ate at Bravo pizza on Saturday night and it wasn't our favorite. It tasted like those Chef Boy R D pizzas you put together yourself in the box. Do they still make them????:gc:

Give the frozen "Home Run Inn" pizzas a try. They are from the Home Run Inn in Chicago and are excellent. Publix recently started stocking them. Try the extra thin crust pepperoni/sausage pizza. We add mushrooms to it and they are outstanding. Don't even have to leave the house.

Talking about good pizza, just tried a new pizzeria in belleview ...its called 441 pizzeria, located in the same plaza as the $5 movie theater (use to be goodfellas) new ownership now, they cleaned the place up. Redecorated it and have the very best pizza in this area. Comming from NJ, I can really say that it might even be the best New York style pizza I have ever tasted. You've got to give it a try for yourself. I don't think you'll be sorry. Gee, I realize I'm starting to sound like an ad, sorry about that, I'm just really excited about my find.

I found Bella Pizzeria to be expensive $18 for a large mushroom and the flavor not that great. My vote goes to Chicago Style -- Does anyone make that around here??

All Pizza in and around the Villages is really really awful if you think it is good then you haven't ever had good Pizza (just sayin). Went up to Connecticut to see the kids and as soon as we got into CT we call TWO Pizza places and ordered a large pie each to have as soon as we got to the kids house. YUMMY!!!!

$18.00 is too much for a pizza that is not that great.
Good luck on staying in business.
There are only so many fools around.

Very good heat at home 16" pepperoni pizza at Aldi's for $5.99.

Added green peppers, onion and mushrooms at home and it turned out great.

My Greek pizza is the best!

I'm sure it tastes good but is it good for your health? What is pizza but a lot of white flour, salt and saturated fat?

On the other hand, if you made a pizza with whole grain flour, low-fat, low-sodium cheese, it probably wouldn't taste good. That's why I decided a long time ago that there's no such thing as good pizza.

I'm a former Goodfella's fan & tried 441 pizza per your suggestion. You are right , the pizza was delicious, not exactly like Goodfellas, but great never the less. We will be back. The place was clean & inviting & the staff friendly. 2 downers, they serve on paper plates, maybe this is temporary. also for our taste we would like to see a little more cheese on top. Altogether though we give it 5 Stars

I agree, Mallory is not bad. Not really what I'd call pizza but it's really pretty good.

I tried 441 Pizzeria in Belleview yesterday and definitely will not be going back. My two favorites are still Papa Johns and Bravo. I'd love to see Pauly's Pizza come back to the Villages.

I make a better pizza on my grill with a pizza stone than any place around here.
It's all in the heat and my home made dough. Cane Garden is a close second.

So we are all coming to your place:mmmm:

Went back to 441 pizzeria today and the food was just as good as when I was there last. Also have to report that they now have china dinner plates. Asked the staff about it and was told that the plates were on back order, as were the coffee and tea machines. The place still appears to be clean and well kept up, unlike the way the previous owners kept it. Hope they keep up the good work as we plan to make this place a regular...with good prices and quality food, who can ask for more.
