Oh good, President Obama, the American apologist-in-chief, has apologized again for our debased nation. He's apologized for the accidental burning of the Koran.
Now, I imagine the Afghanistani's will apologize for killing two of our servicemen.

I doubt that they will. But this is America and we are above that. No matter what you think of the Muslim world it is their religion and we accidentally desicrated their holy writings? An apology was in order.
I often wonder how so many Americans came to the conclusion that God is our friend and ally and protector and all that stuff. Maybe he prefers Africans or Asians or Europeans. Could be.

How many American lives will be saved by this apology, or conversely, how many more lives would be lost without the apology? President Obama did not burn the Koran's, but he took responsibility for the burning.

the appropriate authorities have already expressed apology for the unintended burning.
In my opinion it is Obama and those who supposedly advise him on such matters that are off base. Do they really think the person (Obama) who they are hanging in effigy, is going to make any difference what so ever? Of course not. It depicts the lack of leadership to be able to let an issue play out that has already been addressed by or for those responsible. His apology can only raise the ire of those offended...with him being so blind to think he can smooth it over.
And I did not see where he claimed responsibility which he and any other politician has not not will ever do.
He is not leading....he is back peddaling....and not knowing enough to leave well enough alone.

You should be apologizing for these asinine, pointless, bandwidth-wasting posts.
Is this all you Cons got?
Why don't you tell us how Obama leads EVERY R candidate, even Rasmussen polling has him with a comfortable lead, or tell us how the R candidates spent more time bashing Junior during last nights debate, than they did each other. Or maybe tell us how we are a few points away from a 13,000 Dow !!!!
Anyone have a link to Bush kissing the Saudi king - Democratic Underground (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x419681#419723)

Just imagine the state we would all be in if any one of the right wing wannabees ever got to the White House. Their showing last night kind of solidifies Obama's re election and maybe even Senate and Congress.

Obviously the President agrees with you...http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.72ca66ee1a4afc263528e0bb35442ca c.3c1&show_article=1
""I've got another five years coming up. We're going to get this done," he continued, according to a transcript of the interview, which was conducted on Tuesday and broadcast on Univision Radio on Wednesday."
This was said to the Hispanic audience today in response to being questioned as to why he had not done enough to enact immigration reform.
Obama makes bold reelection prediction (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.72ca66ee1a4afc263528e0bb35442ca c.3c1&show_article=1)
Since you aimed your post at other Village residents, which I would prefer not to do, and I don't consider any of this an R vs D think, I will leave it at that !!!!

I have to side slightly with the conservatives on this one.
I would have LOVED to see Obama come out and verbally rake the radicals over the coals. Something like...
"While it's unfortunate that this happened, it should be pointed out that Americans had their hands burned trying to rescue these books when they realized what was happening. We show more respect for their holy book than they show for human beings every time there's an honor killing, or acid thrown in a woman's face for the crime of going to school, or a person beheaded because they don't believe the same way they do."

Bravo!! The mentality of the knee-jerk liberals is disheartening. They've forgotten what it means to be American and proud of it.
President Obama has done America no favors with his butt kissing of the Islamists. He, and in extension the U.S., will be seen as weak and pathetic. It's only going to ramp up the Islamic rhetoric and violence.
The call is going out among "the faithful" to kill foreigners over this "unforgivable outrage against Islam".

So, in view of the debate going on in this forum, IS THIS A PERSONAL ATTACK AGAINST ME???
He doesn't mention me, but he addresses me in the first sentence. How about all you "crybabies" out there. SHOULD I COMPLAIN TO THE MODERATOR???
I'm not and I won't, but I'm going to point this out whenever I can because of the hypocrisy on this forum among you libs.
I'm guessing this is the post that will be deleted, as being "off topic"

i am not sure if this is correct information but a lady called in to rush today and said that it is muslim law that no one can write in the koran...the only way to purify the koran which has been written in is to burn it....therefore, the authorities were burning these books because (prisoners?) had written incendiary remarks in them and remarks which could be code for dangerous behaviours....if this is true, it should have been carefully explained rather than apologized for. i don't believe in showing disrespect for anyone's religion, even though they think nothing of burning our bible! does anyone know whether this is true in islam? i will ask Dr Warner when he speaks at the tea party on monday night...we need to know more about what we are dealing with and how to protect ourselves.

I like what Charles Krauthammer had to say on the matter: " 'That was embarrassing what we saw,' Charles Krauthammer said about the Obama administration issuing multiple apologies to the Muslim world for the Koran-burning incident.
" 'We have gone from apology here to abject self-debasement and groveling. And groveling to whom? To the mob. We should've had a single apology from the commander on the ground and that's it. Not from the Secretary of Defense. Not from the President, of all people. Remember when the president had to pick up the phone when there was a crazy pastor in Florida who wanted a Koran burning and he had to be talked out of it,' Krauthammer said on FOX News' 'Special Report.'
" 'Is the president in charge of offenses against a certain religious tradition in the world?' Krauthammer asked.
" 'This is a world in which nobody asked the Islamic conference, the grouping of the 56 Islamic countries to issue an apology when Christians are attacked and churches are burned in Egypt or in Pakistan. And have we heard a word from any Islamic leader anywhere about the radical Muslims in Nigeria, who not only are burning churches but burning women and children who are Christian in the Churches. When I hear that I'll expect my president to start issuing an apology,' he said.
..." 'The reason we're apologizing is not because of politeness or showing respect. A single apology would have done that. it's the fear of violence. People don't object if the Mormons are mocked on Broadway, if a Christian crucifix are put in bottles of urine and displayed at a museum because the violence isn't a factor. People are afraid. You do a cartoon of Muhammad and you get beheaded or shot. It's a matter of fear, it's not respect. One apology is correct. It shouldn't of been done, absolutely. All of this stuff is cravenous,' Krauthammer said."

Let me see if I can get my mind around all of this. A burning of a Koran has set off some muslims now days on end. Sneakers create a riot in New York and for days now we have had to listen to continual glowing eulogies of Whitney Houston, a troubled person whose end should dramatically alter peoples use of drugs....but with the hero worship won't.
Stop the world I want to get off. This is just plain sick.:cold: We have lost the meaning of what life is suppose to be about.

Do you really think Obama's apology will save lives. It did NOT.
Two more Americans were killed inside a command and control center today. (Shot in the head).
Now do you think karzi will apologize for FOUR dead innocent Americans?
Criminals do not respect weakness and apologies. Would Christians murder four Muslims if Afghanistan accidentally offended Christians when they burned bibles that had been desecrated by Americans? NO!
We need to be either strong or get out.

I have made it very clear how I feel about Muslims and it is not good. They are the most dangerous group on earth today.
BUT, to burn their sacred book was stupid and should come with an apology from the highest authority. Thank GOD Obama had the insight and understanding of a persons religious beliefs to do the right thing. Put the shoe on the other foot and stop being so one sided.

I will put my military credentials up against anyone on this forum any day. The best thing we can do for our troops is not to act like the idiots we are fighting against. I know that goes against many folks understanding but its true. When America takes the high road our troops are safer than when we don't. Can you offer what military training and experience you draw from the make the above comment? Just reading your post, I would be suprise if you had any military background at all. But, you can prove me wrong if you wish.

I think that I can match you day for day and metal for metal. What President Obama did was WRONG. When he starts jumping all over any country that is muslim (notice the small letter) for killing Christians then I will have some respect for him. Still respect the office, just don't respect the man holding the office.
BTW (by the way) do you know what a moderate muslim is? That is the one that just ran out of ammunition.

Answer first statement:Burning a book that preachs kill anyone who don't believe the way you do is not a book that needs protection.
Answer second statement: Then the muslims must really be a weak crowdedly bunch of people.

Personally I think a brief apology from the base commander would have been appropriate. The apology from Obama was too much.
Where was Karzai's apology for the Afghan cop killing our people in what was supposed to be one of the safest buildings in Afghanistan.
That's an example of the asymmetrical relationship going on here. It's an example of how that region seemingly cannot (like used to be said of other countries) govern themselves.

The apology really worked didn't it? Two more soldiers shot in the head; Afghans lobbing grenades into Troops camps. Amazing how many lives it has saved isn't? You have a number yet on how many were saved so far?

Sensible approach, and one that conservative commentators have endorsed. We have an Administration that's in over it's head. It's time we helped them out of the pool.

The commander-in-chief is insulting my country. Nice of you to come so quickly to his aid. I'm sure you will in November also.
