If anyone who has had cataract surgergy, can you tell me about your experience and doctor that performed the surgery? Did you have any problems afterwards? Thanks.

I had my first cataract surgery when I was 44,...I was struggling with night driving, seeing a lot of prisms, starlights, etc. off of headlights. The doctor said it was a fast developing type in my left eye. They anesthatized me to just about sub-conscious level and had me look up into the light. I could hear the laser popping off that they use to break up the lens. Then they injected the artificial lens in there.

Then last year I had to have Yag laser in the same eye. The posterior capsule had clouded up so he cut a hole in it,....instant improved sight. With that procedure he just had me rest my chin on a brace, strapped my head,...probably took him a minute or so to do. Dr. Gordon Schwenck did mine at Ocala Eye. I had to go to their surgery center in Ocala.

Another vote for Dr Schwenk. Both me and my wife had ours done at Ocala Eye. Like Graytop my wife had to have the Yag procedure on one eye.

My husband had both eyes done last year at Ocala Eye with Dr. Morris. I am having one eye done next week, also using Dr. Morris. I have an astigmatism in both eyes so I have opted for the Toric lens, which is not covered by Medicare. I will have distance far and near without glassess but will need eyeglasses for reading. Dr. Morris was very patient in explaining all my options without any pressure from him on getting a lens that is not covered by Medicare.

Although not in TV I had my cataracts removed 3 years ago.

It was so bad that my buddies would have to follow the golf ball for me cause after about 125 yards I lost sight of the ball. I wore prescription sunglasses but my distance sight wasn't too bad. (well before my cataracts got so bad)
I too had astigmatism in both of my eyes and it cost me $500 per eye to correct it when the cataracts were removed.

Any way at no extra charge the Dr made it so in one eye I can see the computer perfectly and can read most fine print ( if there is adequate light) Otherwise I use 150 cheaters. The other eye was corrected slightly for distance.

I can now see the golf ball way down the fairway.
Working the computer is now great and I use cheaters occasionally.

I think my vision now is 20/30 without glasses

My wife was chicken to watch the procedure, but after my good experience she had it done. She has terrible eyes and he corrected her as well, but that cost us. I was able to watch her procedure; it's quite amazing. Not sure what the magnification was but it was very clear.

I had cataract surgery last year.......up north. After a lot of research and consultations with ophthalmologists, I elected to have the Crystalens implants. I can now see close, distance and inbetween. It's not perfect but better than I expected. I was a nervous wreck before the surgery. Our vision is so very important...priceless!

I would highly recommend the Crystalens.
