electric or gas for cooking?

Are the stoves gas or electric? If you have electric and want to covert, is that ok or do they not do that?

All current new-builds are electric. There are some villages that have gas but those homes must be purchased on the preowned market.

Check with your sale person. When we were looking at new construction we were given the option of a PIG (Propane In Ground) tank the gas stove was a deal breaker for me. We ended up n Chatham with a gas stove in the end. If gas is important I would be sure to at least ask about the PIG.

We went with an induction rahge - my wife loves it. Electric, but behaves like gas.

Not sure I know how a gas or electric range behave? Does the induction create instant constant heat?

I've heard good things about those induction electric stoves mentioned above.
I think you need special pots and pans and the stoves are more expensive but all say it's well woth it.

When our cook top dies, we will get an induction range. They are remarkable.

Induction ranges require that cooking utensils are magnetic. If a magnet does not stick to the pan, it will not work. My wife wanted gas cooking, and does not like the delay when an electric burner is turned down/off. An induction burner turns on and off instantly, and the stove top does not get very hot.

I vote gas. Easy to control stovetop heat, clean and less expensive. I live in Calumet Grove, next to Chatham, and the availability of gas was one of the pros in our decision making. That, plus the unique country feel and sounds (roosters, horse and donkey farms, church bells, train in the distance) of this unique part of The Villages

My wife insisted on gas stove when we bought here in 2009. We bought a resale home in Glenbrook. Natural gas is my favorite and less expensive than electric.

Yes, the homes built after around 2007 (?) are all electric.

I agree with Cateca about the country sounds - but the downside is you do not know what might be built when the farmer sells his property to some developer. In Chatham, the train whistles sound like they are coming through your home depending on where in the village of Chatham you are. I have played golf up there and the trains are very noisy.

Calumet Grove is far enough for the train sounds to be very enjoyable.

We have always had a gas stove since we have been in TV but we are getting a new electric stove this week. I bet we have used our stove to cook on, other than boiling water, maybe 20 times in 3 years. I use my electric skillet and Super Wave Cooker most of the time. And, we hardly ever use our oven. Our appliances are almost ten years and beginning to break down so we have purchased 4 stainless steel appliances to be delivered this week.

Yes gas stove/oven was very very important for my wife. so we had to choose, a plus 70 village with gas or a plus 55 with electric... the latter won
