USDA: Get Rid of the Gas Chamber! - Take Action Today @ The Animal Rescue Site (http://www.quickdonations.org/clickToGive/campaign.faces;jsessionid=53C41F90F5632D7381842637 4B405192.ctg-b?siteId=3&campaign=GarlandAnimalShelter&pageNum=743)

I went up to the Marion County pound when looking for a pooch about 5 years ago. It broke my heart to see the termination dates posted on the dog's cages. Wanted to rescue a rather fat brown lab right then but better voices talked me out of it. He probably would have torn up the neighbors' yards too with his back leg routine of trying to clean up the poop or pee.

From what I hear many of the Villages' area pounds still put down their dogs as soon as they need the room.

On the other hand, I know there is a question of resources vs. space vs. adoptable canines.

Seems like most of the best friends at the Marion County pound I saw about 5 years ago were pit bull mixes. They probably are very hard to place wiith regional rescues if and when they have the room.

I do not see an easy answer to this but would appreciate help with making sure that the dogs which could be saved from the gas chamber are.
