Hi everyone....just looking for a little sympathy here. Where I live, there is a winter storm warning out for 6" to 12" of snow for tomorrow afternoon through Thursday! Why can't I already live in TV! If you could all soak up some extra sun and warmth for me I'd appreciate it.

I am in the same boat. I just spoke with my nephew who is vacationing for two weeks near The Villages, and they were sitting by the pool! He said there is record high temp in forecast for tomorrow. I'm thinking I am in the wrong place!

I knew I count on my VT neighbor for a pity party!

It was a beautiful day here today....not too warm, very comfortable. Lanai doors were opened, front door and garage door had their screens down and a nice breeze blew through. Get here quickly... ;) (Stay safe in the nasty weather you hear!)

'cause I'm happy now that we are in Georgia on our way to TV TOMORROW!!! We left Ontario on Monday after a snowstorm on the weekend and I understand they are expecting a major dump over the next 2 days. I feel blessed that we managed to find a window just when we needed it. It is raining now but you don't have to shovel water and next week promises WARM weather which I haven't felt since the last time I was in TV in November. I'm sure that the weather will get better and better for you and you will be in TV before you know it. Hope to see you at the May Crisper lunch.

Glad you got out in time to miss the mess. It does get tricky traveling this time of year. I envy you getting to feel the warmth and sun on your skin and in your bones. Soak it up and we will see you in may!!

Actually, you can! Rent a house until yours is finished. That way you can go over and see the progress each day, annoy the construction crew, have coffee with Gracie, then when it warms, go back up and pack to move.
Problem solved! :icon_wink:

Now that's an idea. A lot of people do that. We have too many loose ends to tie up here, not a thing packed (hope to start today) and my 84 year old mother isn't taking the move too well, so I shall stay here until the last minute! Thanks for the idea, though.

Well,...you'll have plenty of that soon enough! I say take the high road and make a party out of what is probably your last major snowstorm! Buy some junk food, cocoa, get a few good movies and hibernate with your hubby or kids,....have fun with it....make a snowman!

My wife actually misses the snow sometimes,.....me NOT!

I have an 86 yo mom and 87 yo dad who depend on us a lot, and are the reason we will keep our place in Ohio for awhile and be "part-timers," Happinow.

They are happy for us, as they had a second home for many years in Florida for many years, but worried, too. And despite my excitement about TV, it's tempered by concern.

OK, new idea! (I'm the creative type).
Bring your Mother down to the rental house, then when you get ready to move into your new home your Mother won't want to leave TV after she experiences it for herself.
Problem solved! (forget the loose ends........they'll still be there when you go back to pack!)

I love that you are so creative! I have asked my mom to come live with us on several occasions. She's lived here her whole life and just won't budge. Everything would be so great if she'd just come with us. She has no ideal what she is missing. Her heart will always be here in NY with the rest of her kids. Unfortunately, I'm the one who had to break her heart by moving away. Hoping to get her down to spend some time with us but she tires very easily and doesn't think she can make the trip. I said that's what wheelchairs are for! We could wheel her from airport terminal to airport terminal and she could hop on the Villages Shuttle and be delivered to my door! Problem solves....yea right.

Same boat here also. We will get light snow but the possibility of ice is what concerns me . Roads might treacherous from Wednesday afternnoon until tomorrow morning.!!!!!!!!

Suppose to start in ten minutes. The only good ice is in a drink. :)

We are dealing with that issue too. My in-laws (86 and 88) still live in their home but depend on us for certain things. We make regular visits to check on and do things for them. There are no other family members to help them. We have discussed with them on multiple occasions that we want to move to TV and that we could set them up in their own place there too. One minute they act excited about it, but when we try to move forward with plans they no longer want to discuss it.

My folks depend on us, too, for many small things ... and would never move. We can't even get them to consider a retirement community near their home! I do have a sister in the Cleveland area, but she still works and has her own family to deal with, so she has far less time to devote to them than we do.

We have decided to spend summer and fall in Ohio for now. My folks came down to visit us this winter, and likely will next winter if their health remains strong, but after that, I think I will have to make a "winter visit" for a week or two.
