I am looking to purchase a new gas cart - does anyone have any recommendation as to whether to go with the gas version of the Club Car, EZ-Go or Yamaha. After talking with the local dealers, Yamaha seems to be the most popular of gas carts.

If you're going to buy a gas cart, you need to buy a Yamaha.

Yamaha is very popular in the villages because the village dealership is Yamaha and it's convenient especially if you are buying a new one. If you are looking for a used cart look at both Yamaha and Club Car and then go w/ the best price. We have both and don't see one any better than the other.

Is there a website for the store in TV that sells the Yamaha? I cannot find it. Thanks!

Thanks Bill. I talked to Joel there today who was delightful. I will be buying the Yamaha 2012 1/2 EFI , not sure which color, he is sending me pics of everything in stock and I will get all the upgrades more or less. Why do they call it 2012 1/2? I forgot to ask him!

Also is it better to get tires that are 12 inches vs 10? The cart comes with the 10 inch tires with the 14 spokes but I think 12 inch tires get better gas mileage? Comments?

I am also going to put in the gas gauge.

What about a radio? Do people actually use those in golf carts?

Jane - I would not recommend a radio as their is too much noise in a gas cart. I listen to my ipod with a headset and this works well in a gas cart.

I did not think a radio in a golf cart is necessary. Your comment makes sense. Too bad they do not come with blue tooth though!!! For my phone! We cannot talk and drive in Washington State without blue tooth, it is against the law!

Jane -

Re: 2012-1/2. The early 2012 models were carbureted - not fuel injected. They came out with the EFI for the engine mid-model year.....hence the "and a half" designation, just to make the differentiation.

Re: 10" vs. 12" diameter wheels. You're best to get advice and input from the dealer on that. I believe 12" wheels will cause clearance issues in the front wheel wells, either height-wise or the tires will scrub in the wheel wells when turning. You might be able to alleviate that with lower profile (shorter) tires. But again, I'd defer to the dealer's feedback. If nothing else - If they would tell you that the 12" wheels would be fine and you then wind up with a problem, they would undoubtedly resolve the issue for you since you made the selection based on their recommendation.

Thank you again. I wonder when the 2013 come out and if they will be different? we have to buy two but I need one now as I am coming out in a few weeks and it will be nice to have it available for whenever I come down. My husband will buy his later when we are here full time. So many options for such a small vehicle!

Your guess is as good as anybody's on what differences there will be on the 2013 model year carts. Who knows?

Just make sure you bring your checkbook!!! :D
