Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a "slut" for wanting to testify before congress on birth control. Darrell Issa would not allow her to testify. Apparently he only wanted men to testify about women's health issues.
Ms Fluke did testify before a congressional democratic committee about a friend of her's who had to have her ovaries removed because she was denied constraception.
Yesterday, Limbaugh said on the air that Ms Fluke should post photos of herself having sex on the internet if she wants taxpayer funded constraception.
What kind of despicable, vile person says things like that?

Rush Limbaugh is the voice of reason and the only thing the left can do is insult. As anyone who listens to Rush would know, this Georgetown Law Student went to Georgetown for the sole purpose of starting this argument. She knew perfectly well that a Catholic University would not provide free birth control. She was out to make trouble. It was written by the WashPo.
Many called in saying that their girlfriends got the Pill cheap at Walmart.
Why should everything be covered by Health Insurance? Besides pregency is not a disease. Don't form an opinion of Rush based on the left's soundbites.

Rush is a pig that causes more trouble than any other public comedian since Andrew Dice Clay. The fat pig is a druged out walking freak show. That of course is only in my opinion.

Rush has had 4 marriages since 1977. And no kids. Maybe he's shooting blanks or is just too fat. In any event, we should be glad he didn't produce any offspring.

I've searched the Washington Post website for any reference that Ms Fluke was out to make trouble. Could you please post a link?
I did learn that Rush Limbaugh gets insurance paid Viagra for his erectile dysfunction and his drug abuse therapy was also paid by insurance at WashingtonPost.com.

I listen to Rush occasionally. I get a kick out of hearing him whine & cry & complain about anyone who's NOT a right-wing, holier than thou conservative.
Too bad his momma wasn't using birth control back in 1950.

You know, I used to listen to Limbaugh but he's just gotten vile over the last decade-plus.
I mean, here's the quote:
"What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex — what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute.”
Umm, Rush - first, the real committe wouldn't see here - all the men refused to let her testify. An unofficial Democrat committe DID see her and she testifed about a friend who needed birth control to shrink an ovarian cyst and preserve her fertility.
Again, it seems that the truth no longer matters to Rush. It's sad -becuase it used to. I guess it's all about ratings these days.

Boehner spokesman "The Speaker obviously believes the use of those words was inappropriate". I can't believe Boehner had the nerve to criticize the titular head of the republican party.
From what I'm reading on Twitter, Rush's sponsors are dropping like flies.

"How do you hate" "You have to be carefully taught"....Musical South Pacific
Song in response to bias concerning Polynesians. It seems hate speech concerning heavy white men is not bias or prejudice...one has to be of color in order for it to be a hate speech or perhaps a person of faith.
Rush Limbaugh's modus never suited my tastes. He has made many good arguments over the years but it was always his delivery I didn't like.
Along those same lines I never much cared for Bill Maher....hate penetrates every nuance he utters. You have to wonder just how wide spread his hatered goes???????? How do you hate....you have to be carefully taught.

You guys are funny. I don't think Rush Limbaugh gives a rat's patootie what you yahoo's think of him. He's consistently got the biggest talk show audience in radio history; is influential in the beltway and the media, despite the leftist media's distain for him. Rush not only comments on the news, he is a big part of it whenever he does.
He's so important and so influential that liberal politicians lament about him by name in their speeches, and try to resurrect the antiquated "fairness doctrine" to somehow silence this potent voice of conservatism.
Rush's enemies, who hate him for saying what they don't want to hear, only can use the, oft-spoken of here, leftist tactics of diversion and ridicule. It's pretty pathetic and much in evidence on this thread.

Limbaugh reaches 0.01 percent of the US population. His promoters will give you a much higher number, but any person who listens to the entire show (and it is a show) is counted as a separate individual for each 15-minute segment -- if you listen to all three hours you are counted as 12 people! That's as accurate as much of his bellicose talk.
He recently said that he could stop the GOP candidates' campaign bickering by telling them to stop. What an ego. Aside from his vain and mean-spirited talk, he is really a nobody. Most of America is working during his airtime (12-3 EST), so has the time or inclination to listen?
Rush should change the spelling of his last name to LIMBO...for that's where he really is in the totality of political discussion, though he does make for good copy with his silliness.

doesn't anyone ever wonder why george stephanopolis, out of nowhere in a january debate, asked romney whether he thought contraception should be outlawed? the topic had nowhere near been brought up ever before, but at a presidential debate, this question is asked....now suddenly the democrats have everyone stirred up as if contraception is going to be denied to anyone...if ms. fluge insists she wants contraception, and she can afford to go to a $65,000 per year school, she very well should pay for it herself...but in the event that she really could not afford it, she could easily get contraception from her local health dept or planned parenthood, to whom our federal taxes dole out millions for such "needs"....no one is going to be denied contraception, and i do not want to pay for it...the larger issue of 1st amendment rights of religious liberty is swept up in nonsense about outlawing contraception....have you ever heard of the "depopulation" goal of Agenda 21? the remarks on this forum are gettind disgusting, plain stupid, and i for one have better things to do with my time than try to open the eyes of those who have them sewn shut....

It a typical ploy from the anti-America liberals. Bait and switch. Obama's record is so pathetic (and trust me they know it) they will do and try anything to divert away from his abject failure as president.
They will cook up anything they can to keep us off topic through the election. It's right out of their tired old play book and they've only just begun. That same ploy is often used here to.

Number One: Miss Fluke demands that Georgetown, a Jesuit University, give her artificial birth control, which is against the Catholic Faith; Two, she went there knowing this. Rush uses absurdity to demonstrate absurdity. People here knocking Rush do not listen to him, they read intrepretations of his statements on the Huffington-Puffington Post. As a Rush 24/7 subscriber, not only do I get to watch him on the Dittocam, but I get the show on podcasts. I got an iPod mainly to listen to Rush later when I am working about the yard, and other tasks.

Too much ado about birth control. Catholic women have been using contraceptives for years and years with no problem in who will pay for them. Let the issue drop. I might not have been keeping up to date on this but didn't the Obama administration propose letting religious institutions to opt out of that requirement? Personally, I do not care one way or the other.
As far as Limbaugh goes, he should be fired right away. Already, some sponsors have pulled out of his show because of his terrible comments.

A young lady voluntarily offers to provide information to an investigating commitee regarding womens health issues. She relates how a friend needed to use a medication to treat her health problems. It just happens to be a pharmaceutical that is also used in contraceptives. The young lady apparently also uses the same medication as a contraceptive.
Now we have a man with his own national radio show who goes on the air and calls her a prostitute and a slut. Use of a contraceptive DOES NOT equal multiple sexual partners. It does not equal being a prostitute nor a slut. It equals being responsible, since most men aren't. I personally commend the young lady for her courage and most especially for her restraint. If it were my daughter I would encourage her to seek counsel with an attorney about bringing a libel suit against Limbaugh. (And yes, I researched the meaning of libel)
To those of you that support Limbaugh, where is your outrage about paying for Viagra perscriptions? Since the only use for Viagra is to promote sex, how can you possibly condone reimbursement for it?

I don't see him doing it. He is so far removed from being a decent human. It seems folks that are so very far off the Civility Line of decency, they slip into fools coma. The fanatical Right believe everything they hear on FOX and the Fanatical Left believe everything they hear on MSNBC. Both sides are idiots for doing so. VK is on the high road as usual, and also, as usual, you take the low road. Limbaugh devotees call themselves ditto heads, apparently because they cannot think for themselves and simply say dittos to everything their guru says for them. Limbaugh has a few million devoted followers, who are simply like-minded bigots and he influences no one that isn't already inclinead to beleive like him. His oft-stated infuence, (by dittoheads like richie), is to influence only other right wingnuts and extremists, and he has never influenced a thinking electorate. I would, by the way, include bill maher in the same discussion. John Stewart has more ability in his little finger that either limbaugh or maher have in their entire body. Now richie pour out your self-righteous venom on me, just like your hero.

Someone needs to explain women's contraception to Rush Limbaugh. By his rantings, he seems to think that the more sex a woman has the more pills she needs to take. FYI Rush, a woman takes one pill a day whether she has sex or not. Limbaugh is confusing women's contraception with his own need for Viagra for his erectile dysfunction which, as I understand, must be taken each time before sexual activity.
BTW: three years ago today, Rush Limbaugh was detained by US Customs officials coming back from the Dominican Republic with some other guy's Viagra. Happy Anniversary Rush.

The outrage at limbaugh has NOTHING TO DO WITH OBAMA.
Wake up. Maybe not for you but it has EVERYTHING to do with Obama. It's a total diversion away from Obama's miserable record and this whole birth control thing was contrived out of the blue for exactly that reason. There will be many many more this year. Watch and see.
For instance, they don't want people talking about six dollar a gallon gas, they want people talking about non-issues made up by them.
The lefties on this forum do it all the time. It's so obvious it's almost funny. They would much rather talk about Rush's Viagra than Obama's failure as a president, which of course they still fully support even to the detriment of their own country. In my book that's far more scandalous and pathetic than anything a radio guy says.

The title of this thread is "Rush Limbaugh" not the price of gas. President Obama is a political genius for making this part of The Affordable Health Care Act, and republicans took the bait and now will probably lose most of the women's vote.

I have to say that this is a "spot on" observation. Talk about anything ridiculous in the news in order to drive the attention away from the important matters.
I was going to ask why Ms. Fluke, as a reportedly 23 year old college co-ed, is not on her parents health insurance since she is under 26 years of age.
Then I found out that she is actually a 30 year old woman's rights activist and a past president of "Law Students for Reproductive Justice."
It sounds like a diversion plant to me...and I think Rush just got caught up in the moment.
So now we're all bashing Rush while gas, Afghanistan and everything else has been put on the back burners. Good grief :sigh:

Well, you can definitely see that Obama is going to win again in November. Thinking women will not vote for a Republican as long as Limbaugh is still on the radio waves. Minorities will not vote for a Republican. Democrats will not vote for a Republican.
What do you have left in the Republican party? It looks as though the Republican voters will consist of Lassen and RichieLion.

Is there some reason you keep building straw men to knock down? Do you know what Fluke actually SAID? You know - about the friend with cysts and all the other reasons for birth control?
And is there some reason you're calling these women 'sluts' but the guys they're supposedly having sex with are getting a free pass?
She said more than that. That wasn't her whole statement. She testified that sexually active students in Catholic colleges were in financial trouble because of birth control and somehow it's the Church's responsibility to provide it for them for free.
You cherry pick only one of her statements for an agenda.

I don't have to. You post with it's drivel says enough. You have no idea what your talking about, and I don't have the inclination to correct you as you wouldn't care anyway as you sit with VK in your self righteousness.
Rush has been the highest rated, most influential broadcaster for over 20 years and this "gotcha" moment is not going to change that. It might even expand his audience as people tune is to see what this is all about and to hear what he will say to all the invective coming his way, and get intrigued by the brilliance in political observation that is his hallmark.
I don't have to attack you. It's you lefties who are attacking me. I'm just sitting here chuckling at the ignorance coming my way.

I think he knows. I think everyone knows. We also know that you can't force the Catholic Church in violation of it's First Amendment Rights to finance birth control. Amazing how that keeps coming up, and you lefties keep ignoring this, the most pertinent aspect of the conversation.
This female student was trying to convince Nancy Pelosi's sham committee that the sexual "needs" of college underclassmen in a Catholic University was of higher importance than that college's First Amendment protections.
is this really too hard for you to grasp?

President Obama came up with a compromise that the Catholic Church was satisfied with by having insurance companies pay for the contraception.
I'm not sure Rush knows how women's contraception works when he says "She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception". It doesn't matter if a person is having no sex, sex once a day, 10 times a day or 100 times a day, it still requires only one pill.

With 30 years experience in the health insurance industry, I can tell you it does not cost an employer group any more money in premiums to cover birth control pills. To the contrary, it costs more for the insurer to pay for the prenatal care and delivery of pregnant women so it is considered the norm for the pill to be covered. An employer group would specifically have to request they be excluded from coverage as it is an automatic benefit. The argument that it shouldn't have to be paid for by the college/church holds no water.
And I gotta say this - dklassen, it appears that you have an attraction to our President because it seems to me that you can think of nothing else.
VK, you are my hero with the most interesting and well-written posts. You don't talk much, but when you do people listen and think.

This statement holds no water, as you say. The First Amendment is crystal clear in it's simplicity. It's intent is clear. No matter how you or others would try to twist reality to redefine it's meaning and intent, it cannot be done.
You would have to overturn the First Amendment protection of Freedom of Religion to further your agenda, or get the Supreme Court to "redefine" it's meaning.

Rick Santorum, Gov Bob McDonald, Joe Arpaio, and Rush Limbaugh are the gifts that keep on giving to the re-elect Obama campaign.

President Obama came up with a compromise that the Catholic Church was satisfied with by having insurance companies pay for the contraception.
I don't know who is the Catholic Church was "satisfied". Did the Pope agree to Obama's "compromise"? Of whom are you speaking?
Churches that pass a four-part government test can win a conditional exclusion from the mandate, according to the regulation. Schools, hospitals, universities and charities run by religious communities would have to comply with the mandate, or pay expensive fines.
As reported in The Daily Caller website:
"On Feb. 10 Obama said he would “accommodate” public objections in 2013 by directing health insurance companies to provide free contraceptives to workers whose religious employers object to abetting contraception, instead of having the churches directly pay the insurance companies for the services.
However, Obama did not change the text of the Jan. 20 regulation, which was enacted Feb. 10, and did not acknowledge any error."
So, Obama said that the Church would not have to "pay" for the pharmaceuticals involved, and he was "mandating" that insurance companies give free pharmaceuticals to anyone who wants them?
Really??; the President can order private businesses to give away products??
The language in the original text is not changed and the actual recompense for these items is not clearly stated as to it's origins.
Smoke and mirrors Jan, it's all smoke and mirrors.

Good grief. Did President Obama bring up these issues? Wasn't it Rep Darrel Issa R-CA that conducted the hearing on women's health issues? Wasn't it Gov Bob McDonald R-VA who wrote the state-mandated vaginal probe law, wasn't it the republican state legislature in MS that tried to pass the now failed "personhood" amendmant, wasn't it Rick Santorum that said that state's have the right to ban contraception? Look around at all the republican legislatures around the country trying to pass these women's health issues bills, including FL.
President Obama goes all over the country talking jobs, the economy, foreign policy, while republicans continue to alienate more and more women.

Ed Schultz apologized to Laura Ingraham and was given a week off with no pay by MSNBC. Don Imus was fired by MSNBC for racist/sexist remarks he made about the Rutgers women's basketball team. Pat Buchanan, a long time employee of MSNBC, was recently fired for supposedly racist remarks.
Rush Limbaugh owes Ms Fluke an apology.
MSNBC did the right thing. Will Clear Channel step up to the plate and demand Rush Limbaugh apologize and suspend or fire him?
Laura Ingraham said on her Facebook page that she is still waiting for her call from Obama since Ed Shultz called her a slut on MSNBC.
(He also called her this out of the blue when the topic had nothing to do with sex, as in the 30 year old political activist who has become the "contraceptive rights poster girl".)
Rush Limbaugh is not an employee of Clear Channel, but an independent businessman. I'm guessing Rush is going to apologize for diverting attention from the real issue with his, I guess, failed attempt to attack an issue with humor. I guess it was the "s" word that was the damning act here.
I guess we'll see whether Clear Channel will rate your indignation over the value of their highest revenue creator.
I guess we should all boycott anything Cloris Leachman is in, like the TV Show "Raising Hope" since she called Sarah Palin a slut on the Wendy Williams show. It was so funny to Williams' audience when Leachman did that. How despicable for that audience to laugh. Do you think that audience is laughing or raging at Rush's remark?

The term "dittos" started early in Rush's talk radio career, it meant that the listener liked him, enjoyed his show and listened often. People wasted their precious broadcast time repeating this as the previous callers had already said so, so they start saying dittos meaning what the previous fans had said.
The BHO Regime started this whole contraception issue when one of their operatives at CNN brought it up at a debate, out of the blue. They know they can not win on a pro-life stance, so they changed the topic to artificial contraception. The Obamacare also demanded free abortafacients and abortion.
95% of pregnent women change their mind about having an abortion when shown an ultrasound picture of their unborn child.
This contraception debate is taking the heat off of the Regime that has ruined the economy, driven up unemployment, driven up the price of fuel, and so forth.
By saqying that The Church should accept the "compromise" ignores the fact that the money is fungible if used to pay premiums, but it also neglects the fact that main Dioceses are self insured.
The following is testimony given by Bishop Lori of Bridgeport, CT, Worthy Supreme Chaplain, which may help to show the problem of forcing religious organizations to provide abortions:
For my testimony today, I would like to tell a story. Let’s call it The Parable of the Kosher Deli.
Once upon a time, a new law is proposed, so that any business that serves food must serve pork.
There is a narrow exception for kosher catering halls attached to synagogues, since they serve mostly members of that synagogue, but kosher delicatessens are still subject to the mandate.
The Orthodox Jewish community — whose members run kosher delis and many other restaurants and grocers besides — expresses its outrage at the new government mandate.
And they are joined by others who have no problem eating pork — not just the many Jews who eat pork, but people of all faiths — because these others recognize the threat to the principle of religious liberty.
They recognize as well the practical impact of the damage to that principle.
They know that, if the mandate stands, they might be the next ones forced — under threat of severe government sanction — to violate their most deeply held beliefs, especially their unpopular beliefs.
Meanwhile, those who support the mandate respond, “But pork is good for you.”
It is, after all, the “other white meat.”
Other supporters add, “So many Jews eat pork, and those who don’t should just get with the times.”
Still others say, “Those Orthodox are just trying to impose their beliefs on everyone else.”
But in our hypothetical, those arguments fail in the public debate, because people widely recognize the following:
First, although people may reasonably debate whether pork is good for you, that’s not the question posed by the nationwide pork mandate.
Instead, the mandate generates the question whether people who believe — even if they believe in error — that pork is not good for you should be forced by government to serve pork within their very own institutions. In a nation committed to religious liberty and diversity, the answer, of course, is: No.
Second, the fact that some (or even most) Jews eat pork is simply irrelevant. The fact remains that some Jews do not — and they do not out of their most deeply held religious convictions.
Does the fact that large majorities in society — even large majorities within the protesting religious community — reject a particular religious belief make it permissible for the government to weigh in on one side of that dispute? Does it allow government to punish that minority belief with its coercive power?
In a nation committed to religious liberty and diversity, the answer, of course, is: No.
Third, the charge that the Orthodox Jews are imposing their beliefs on others has it exactly backwards.
Again, the question generated by a government mandate is whether the government will impose its belief that eating pork is good on objecting Orthodox Jews.
Meanwhile, there is no imposition at all on the freedom of those who want to eat pork. That is, they are subject to no government interference at all in their choice to eat pork, and pork is ubiquitous and cheap, available at the overwhelming majority of restaurants and grocers.
Indeed, some pork producers and retailers, and even the government itself, are so eager to promote the eating of pork that they sometimes give pork away for free.
In this context, the question is this: Can a customer come to a kosher deli, demand to be served a ham sandwich, and if refused, bring down severe government sanction on the deli?
In a nation committed to religious liberty and diversity, the answer, of course, is: No.
So, in our hypothetical story, because the hypothetical nation is indeed committed to religious liberty and diversity, these arguments carry the day.
In response, those proposing the new law claim to hear and understand the concerns of kosher deli owners and offer them a new “accommodation.”
You are free to call yourself a kosher deli; you are free not to place ham sandwiches on your menu; you are free not to be the person to prepare the sandwich and hand it over the counter to the customer.
But we will force your meat supplier to set up a kiosk on your premises and to offer, prepare and serve ham sandwiches to all of your customers free of charge to them. And when you get your monthly bill from your meat supplier, it will include the cost of any of the “free” ham sandwiches that your customers may accept.
And you will, of course, be required to pay that bill.
Some who supported the deli owners initially began to celebrate the fact that ham sandwiches didn’t need to be on the menu and didn’t need to be prepared or served by the deli itself.
But on closer examination, they noticed three troubling things:
First, all kosher delis will still be forced to pay for the ham sandwiches. Second, many of the kosher delis’ meat suppliers themselves are forbidden in conscience from offering, preparing or serving pork to anyone. Third, there are many kosher delis that are their own meat supplier, so the mandate to offer, prepare and serve the ham sandwich still falls on them.
This story has a happy ending: The government recognized that it is absurd for someone to come into a kosher deli and demand a ham sandwich; that it is beyond absurd for that private demand to be backed with the coercive power of the state; that it is downright surreal to apply this coercive power when the customer can get the same sandwich cheaply, or even free, just a few doors down.
The question before the United States government — right now — is whether the story of our own church institutions that serve the public, and that are threatened by the HHS mandate, will end happily too.
Will our nation continue to be one committed to religious liberty and diversity?
We urge, in the strongest possible terms, that the answer must be: Yes.
We urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to answer the same way. Thank you for your attention.
Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, Conn., is the chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
He offered this statement on behalf of the conference today, Feb. 16, before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s hearing
“Lines Crossed: Separation of Church and State. Has the Obama Administration Trampled on Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Conscience?”

I didn't hear Ed Schultz's comment because he made it on his radio show, which I don't listen to, but he called Laura Ingraham personally to apologize and offered to MSNBC to be taken off the air indefinitely. If Rush Limbaugh did the same thing, that would be fair.
Rush Limbaugh has a contract with somebody who is paying him millions of dollars a year, and the only company I heard mentioned was Clear Channel.
That's the first I heard about Cloris Leachman's remark about Sarah Palin, but I found it reprehensible.
Don Imus apologized for his remark, but was fired by MSNBC anyway.

Maybe you might want to consider "linking" the information from various sources rather than copying it nearly word for word. It is WAY too long to read. After the first couple of paragraphs interest begins to wan. I'm just sayin'

publicity is publicity....eh?
We see and hear all kinds of offensive commentary these days designed to do just that...get attention...the only difference in this particular instance it serves a political purpose....FOR SOME!!!! Noting of substance...meaning what will change when time allows it to go away? NOTHING!!!!

I can post a link of a recording of what Shultz said, but it's not that hard to Google.
I don't think Shultz needed to be suspended. What are we children? An apology coupled with the public shame would have been enough, in my opinion.
The firing of Don Imus was a stupid thing for his radio network to do and cost them much money. It was also a cowardly way to address the hypocritcal "liberal mob" that demanded it.
How many of you liberals on this forum have demanded the firing of Bill Maher. How many times did he call Sarah Palin the "c" word that rhymes with "hunt", and not even get a reprimand from his network, or Obama or anybody but conservative media sources.
This hypocrisy is incredible. I haven't even started on the hate speech shown President Bush, or the racist comments directed at Condi Rice..

Though I am not liberal, you like to paint me with that brush (apparently anyone who disagrees with you on anything is a liberal), so if I am liberal I am the one who has said repeatedly that maher, schultz and olberman deserve to be lumped in the same inflammatory and vitriolic group as limbaugh, coulter, and hannity. I have also never called any of the candidates by cutesy names. I don't think limbaugh should be fired or taken off the air, but he deserves all the criticism, censure, and disgust he can get. I listened to him regularly twenty plus years ago, but his ego has ruptured and I find him unlistenable and ridiculous.

I read what Ed Schultz said, and I don't think Laura Ingrahim should hold her breath waiting for President Obama to call since she was criticizing him for going to Ireland when Schultz insulted her.
Don't watch Bill Maher, don't have HBO, plus he's on way past my bedtime.
Speaking of racist comments, what about Judge Richard Cebull, Montana Chief Federal Judge, racist email about the president sent out using his judicial email address? This breaks too many laws to list. Cebull's apology was one of those "sorry if you were offended" placing the blame on others. He will be removed from the bench. It will just take time since only congress can impeach a federal judge. He should do everybody a favor and just resign. Cebull is a George W Bush appointee.

After reading nine pages onthis subject I have come to the following conclusion.
The tenet lawyers learn early on is if the facts are on your side argue the facts and if the law is on your side argue the law. However for liberals the tenet is if neither fit then bash the nearness conservative or a church or a business.
I am told that Walmart offers generic birth control products for $4 a month. If this is so, perhaps Ms Fluke$ 1,000 habit shows is a result of very poor shopping. But if someone else is pay why worry. Whether this is so or not makes no difference to me. I want the government to stop helping themselves to my hard earned money/savings....I mean its a fairness issue one that Obama hammers on day after day

When seeing Ms. Fluke's testimony bemoaning claims that women law students at Georgetown Law were unable to afford the supposed $3,000 cost of birth control......I thought her media critics really missed the boat on the pathetic argument she presented as a future graduate of one of the nation's most prestigious law schools.
When it costs $70,500 total for one year of Georgetown Law and students are borrowing heavily to fund this, how can they claim with a straight face that borrowing a supposed $1,000 per year more is a deal breaker that "would make it financially impossible to continue in school"?????
Good grief. When you're spending $70,500 per year to get the law degree, wouldn't it make sense to borrow the money to pay for your own birth control, to "self-insure" oneself against unwanted pregnancy???
I thought Fluke's was an argument so weak that it was what a high-school mock-trial student would come up with.
Georgetown Law's Student Budget for the year 2011-2012 is here:

I hope you are right and that they don't really like him. It is confusing when people like Limbaugh, and Beck can muster support from anyone at all. I see them as full time haters, but they all do have supporters, so I will try my best not to use negative name calling on any of the three. Gratuitous sex has become so common place in our society that we have forgotten the moral, biological and physical consequences. This is another fine example of the detoriation of the integrity and ethics of this secular and descending society. Perhaps Limbaugh was wrong in his approach but it is even sadder that our society was quick again to shoot the messenger over and over again rather than utilizing this issue as a teachable moment.
But then too many of my liberal friends believe they have a monopoly on intellect and again we find that they have intellectualize themselves into stupidity.
I have too much respect for most people and so I do not use stupidity in the sense of calling someone stupid but rather in their "unquestionable" belief that they are smarter than most they fail to recognize the bigger issue.
I am not qualified to debate the issue of contraceptives but I am qualified to
know that with rights come responsibilities. And so if you desire to engage
in activities then you should pay your own way. I mean I love golf but I haven't ask the government to pay for my sticks

I think it matters a lot. No one pays any attention to what you and I say on this forum, but millions do care what is broadcast nation wide. If it is said on SNL, No big deal as they are clearly comedy, off color at times but comedy. Rush Limbaugh is thought of by many conservatives and a accurate source of news. Because the outrage over Limbaugh's comments were the topic. Any yahoo in the street certainly doesn't carry the same weight.
Having had some time to think about it, some of Bill Maher's comments about Palin were, IMO, over the line. There were far more polite ways to express his revulsion at her policies but he took the low road a few times.

"Maher has called Palin a “dumb twat” and dropped the C-word in describing the former Alaska governor. He called Palin and Congresswoman Bachmann “boobs” and “two bimbos.” He said of the former vice-presidential candidate, “She is not a mean girl. And while it's worth watching in its entirety—there's even some Newsweek-bashing, which is always fun—the following excerpt alone should suffice to prompt discussion:
Now I'm not saying that sexism doesn't exist and isn't real, but we can't throw around the word "sexist" just to stop people like me from pointing out that Michele Bachmann, now running second for the Republican presidential nomination, isn't [sic] a dangerous nincompoop. And when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of The Hills Have Eyes, that's not sexist. The difference is that Sarah Palin became a public figure when she became a politician in the national spotlight.
Sarah Fluke is a private citizen. It looks like bullying to go against someone just taking a stand on something she believes in.
Rush Limbaugh and various other Republican pundits have frequently gone after public figures. It is going after the private person that crosses the line.
Ann Coulter is often a very harsh and sometimes funny critic of liberal public figures. http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Ann_Coulter I rarely though have seen her cross into the area where she attacks someone just speaking his or her mind who is not a political figure.

So it's OK to call a person in the public eye a "c*nt", a tw*t and a whore? When did that happen?.....
If you feel that way, I think that a 30 year old dedicated "women's rights" activist who testifies at a Nancy Pelosi news conference masquerading as a "committee hearing" is putting herself squarely in the public eye.

No, that's wrong. Maher is taking issue with a politician which has a very long tradition in US politics.
Just take a look at how nasty some of the things said about people like John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Richard Nixon, and many others have been. Remember the stain on the blue dress? Or, was it a red dress.
Maher can say whatever he likes as long as it does not actually go to a factual matter and is also wrong and done with malice.
I am not a fan of Maher. Never have watched an entire show of his unless relatives from say Massachusetts are visiting.
I have read some of Ann Coulter's books though.

How much of a choice though did Sandra Fluke really have? Still sounds like some people think that this whole thing is a charade to take the women's vote from the Republicans on the issue of contraceptives.

Right so Sandra Fluke only needed contraceptives at Georgetown Law during her third year of law school? She just waited to fall in love until the 2012 Election loomed?
And, then... Rush Limbaugh just had to make a fool of himself by rushing into the fray??

Never listened to him, never planned to ever listen to him. Just assumed you watch Bill Maher all the time, since you seem to be so well informed about his comments.
Five more advertisers have pulled their ads from Rush's show bringing the total now to 20. At this rate Limbaugh would be lucky to land "Hustler" magazine, Frederick's of Hollywood and the Voyeur's Club for Middle-Aged Corpulent Cads to buy time on his daily sexual star chamber.

Nope, not well informed until the whole Rush thing came up. Don't really listen to Rush either, but most of what I have heard from Rush is right on! I DO NOT CONDONE his recent comments tho.
Let sponsors pull their ads, that may bring other sponsors to the table. Pretty sure Rush could afford to go it alone also. It's not always easy or popular to stand for what you think is right.

Actually the Democrats had someone else to speak for the Congressional committee on this topic. It was a guy named Barry Lynn who the Democrats presented as a witness to help make their case for the imposing of unconstitutional mandates that the Church must provide contraceptives to it's university students. He was vetted and cleared to testify.
The Democrats then changed the program and insisted that the unvetted Sandra Fluke testify as they wanted to put a women's face on the issue and this 30 year old political women's right activist, who has also fought to have employers pay for trans-gender surgery for it's employees, testify.
The Republicans, per Rep. Issa, refused this last minute addition of the unvetted Ms. Fluke and in response Nancy Pelosi conducted a news conference set up to look like a Congressional hearing to present Ms. Fluke in her call for "free contraceptives for everyone" at the Roman Catholic Church's expense.
Sandra Fluke, this 30-year-old birth control activist then gives unverified and inexpert testimony about how Georgetown's long-standing and public policy has hurt her unnamed friends.
The Democrats used Sandra Fluke to create a controversy, while Sandra Fluke used them to advance her agenda, which is to force a religious institution to abandon their principles in order to meet hers.
This is all a ploy to resurrect for public consumption that oldie but goodie "The Republicans hate women" mantra. This is supposed to turn around polls indicating that Obama has lost ground among women voters.

I don't know what polls you've been reading. The latest ones I've seen say republicans have lost 18 points of support from suburban women in the last few weeks. The drop could be the result of the state-madated vaginal probe laws as well as Rush's tirade.
Sandra Fluke was exercising her first amendment right to speak when she testified. It doesn't matter what her motives or background may be. Rush Limbaugh also has the same first amendment right to speak, which he has been exercising for the past 20 years, but he's not allowed to make slanderous comments.

There are polls besides the ones with slanted questions issued by left wing media to falsely give the impression of an Obama rebound greater than it is.
Actually though, Obama's rebound, no matter how much, among women voters bolsters my argument that this contraceptives debate was begun for this very purpose.
(You really really love to keep writing about "vaginal probes", don't you. What ever happened to the proper and long used correct medical designation "sonogram". I guess it doesn't sound "evil" enough.)

Who are the ones that brought up this entire " contraceptive" issue? The state legislature in MS that tried to pass a personhood amendment; Gov Bob McDonald R-VA who wrote the state-madated vaginal-probe law now being passed by the state legislature; Rep candidate Rick Santorum, who said states have the right to ban contraception; Rush Limbaugh, who called a young woman a slut and prostitute because she was exercising her first amendment right to testify before congress, etc etc.
President Obama must be a political genius if he got republicans to take this bait, because women are deserting the GOP in droves.

There so much wrong with your post beginning with you calling Nancy Pelosi's press conference as "testifying before Congress". The 30 year old "women's activist" was speaking to the media. It's was not a Congressional hearing.
The "personhood" law is a separate debate of when does life begin. You want to get into that again? The use of a sonogram is a medical tool, and it's not always necessary to illustrate the progression of the separate and distinct life within the woman. A simple ultrasound is usually sufficient. The use of the term "trans-vaginal is being use by liberal abortion rights activists, like you, to inflame the situation by transforming the sonogram into a form of "forced rape".
Saying Rick Santorum want's to "ban contraception" is a lie propagated by his enemies.
As Ronald Reagan would have said "There she goes again"
Rick Santorum is only defending the First Amendment Rights of the Church, and nothing more.
Rush has apologized for his poor choice of words in his comments. Of course that's not good enough for the rabid leftists who see this as another chance to silence the most effective voice in the conservative media in 20 years. I won't defend him again to you, as it's pointless.

It was a committee hearing that MS Fluke testified at, not a press conference, after she was not allowed to testify by Rep Darrell Issa, R-CA.
I believe a sonogram is performed on the outside of a woman's body, as opposed to a trans-vaginal probe. This is what Gov Bob McDonald's law proposes. Call it what it is. I thought republicans, and especially tea-partiers, were against government intrusion. This is government intrusion in the worst way. Where is a woman's right to privacy guaranteed by the constitution? Gov McDonald suggested he would like to be considered for VP. The only VP he is going to be remembered for is the vaginal probe.
I heard Rick Santorum say that "states have a right to deny contraception" or words to that effect. Will post the link.
As you said, Rush apologized for his poor choice of words: "slut" "protitute". What words does he wish he had said: "harlot" "street-walker"? He went on about this for three days. This was not a slip of the tongue remark. Anybody that has a daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife, mother should be outraged.

If it were my daughter I would encourage her to seek counsel with an attorney about bringing a libel suit against Limbaugh. (And yes, I researched the meaning of libel)
What you have said above might be part of the reason for Rush's apology. For all we know, he might have gotten a call from her attorney asking for an apology. Or, Rush's own attorney might have told him that he had better apologize quickly and make it good.
Rush, as he will tell you himself, is a "broadcast professional". And, as such, he can say anything he needs to say and make it sound believable. That's what makes him a great salesman for all the many products sold on Radio.
But I detected some inconsistencies (or untruths) in his apology. Could it be that telling falsehoods comes so natural to him that he told more of them during his apology?
1) He said that everything he says on the radio is for the benefit of his listeners not the advertisers.
2) He said he came down to the level of his opponents, as though he had never done so before.
Number one above: Is it for our benefit that he keeps trying to convince us, over and over again, that we can eat any and all processed junk-food and that doing so has nothing to do with health?
Number two above: He always comes down to the level of his opponents. When Bush was President, the left was hoping the war in Iraq would be a big failure. And since Obama became President, Rush has been hoping that the economy would be a big failure. That's evident in his selective reporting of economic news.
To be honest, he always comes down to the level of his opponents. This time was different only because he slandered a woman and then became fearful that, 1) he might get sued by her and 2) he might lose more and more of his advertisers.

Not exactly, schotzyb. There are a lot of things you cannot say about a public figure. I checked out whispering campaign on Wikipedia. It is one dirty trick that goes way too far. There a lot of other ones that if the culprit is outed, usually tarnishes the person using the dirty trick more than its target.
The whispering campaign goes back to the political contest between Jefferson and John Adams (Presidential campaign of 1800), if not a lot farther. I am sure you could probably find something like it in the politics of just about every nation and period. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whispering_campaign
Senator John McCain was a target of Bush's campaign back in 2000 of a whispering campaign.

You, not you personally, can spin it any which way you desire but there is absolutely no difference being a public figure or private citizen when it comes to being berated by entertainers, other politicians or so called newspeople. Berating and name calling does the same damage to either a public or private citizen . There is no place for it on either side of the fence.

That fat, impotent slob is now a laughing stock and his rant against Sandra Fluke has rallied thinking women over to President Obama's side. The Dumpublicans have showed (through Limbaugh) they are against women's health issues.

Here's a pretty good column on the abundant hypocrisy surrounding this singling out of Limbaugh for the gallows tree.
It doesn't spare any punches for Limbaugh, but honestly acknowledges the abundant audacity of the left to be so shocked at his verbiage coupled with the lame-o reasons why Limbaugh saying something is so much worse than if they say it.

I don't think you read the article, because it mention a lot more liberals than one.
Liberal talkers are way more culpable in the defaming of women than Rush has ever been. You really should read it before commenting on it. It's advisable for any published story.

I do understand loyalty to a person or a viewpoint, in any event. Every once in a while, as I look back, I think I maybe could have been a little bit more understanding of another's viewpoint. It's not an easy thing to do.

Me an Buggy always sit next to each other so we can chat freely, and besides he has a really low voice that doesn't carry well in noisy crowds. I'm not sure Buggy will be there. He sometimes is and sometimes isn't.

Abortion, Abortifacents and artifical Contraception are not women's health issues that really matter. The BHO regime raised the age when women can get mamograms, how often they can get them, and banned the most effective drug used to fight breast cancer. Now that is women's health being restricted. The other stuff is convenience and The Pill, while wrong to be used to prevent conception, is available asw a generic for less than $10 a month.
This Sandra Fluke has a full scholrship to Georgetown Law and expects to make north of $160K a year when she graduates. And if she can't afford the $10 a month, DC gives them out free.
And a side note, Rush is not fat, he lost a lot of weight these past years. He can even fit in those small clothes JOSB sells. Have you seen a recent picture of him, his appearances on the Haney Project may still be available on the Golf Channel.

The issue isn't Limbaugh, a woman's right or Sandra Fluke. The issue is the BHO Administration again ignoring the US Constitution Taking your eye off task is like holding the wiggling tail of a gecko while the little fellow walks away proud and prim that he has outsmarted you again
Tell the government to mind their own business....we don't need their stinking contraceptive because we can buy ar own for $9 at Walmart. Geeez

Thanks for the compliment. It seems to me that by now citizens should be aware of the fact that politicians and their sycophants ( money men, hollywood stars) don't give a darn about us . So the disrespectful/unfair treatment of one citizen today can as easily fall on another tommorow. We have the priviledge...right to control our lives ..our destiny and its slipping through our fingers because of nonsense.

I mean - I used to be a fan of his but he just went.. Well, to be honest, I don't know HOW to describe it...
Are we so quick to forget his RIDICULOUS comments about the LRA? You remember that one.. Where he said Obama was funding a battle in Uganda and South Sudan against Christians by Muslims in supporting people fighting against the Lord's Resistance Army.
...except that the LRA is a terrorist organization that uses rape for intimidation and kidnaps children to turn them into soldiers.
This is NOT Limbaugh's first time around the block.

Rush Limbaugh explains to those ignorant of how sponsors advertise on the 600 stations that broadcast his program. Most sponsors are local and he derives no revenue from them. He has direct sponsors and one of those, he says, is practically begging to return. Stock prices for that company have plummeted since leaving Rush's audience. He also said he had 3 new direct sponsors coming on in the next 2 weeks.
The national media is aiding Media Matters in it's assault against Limbaugh by printing lies and by giving people the wrong impression on how radio advertising works.
I know this "kill Limbaugh's show by targeting sponsors tactic" will fail, and I would be willing to wager that this time next year Limbaugh has as large and audience and maybe even larger as the new listeners spurred to listen because of this controversy and exposed to his genius become full fledged new fans.
Here's Rush's words on the subject.

Not in the Constitution, cite the Article if you think it is. The "Right to Privacy" was invented by SCUSA in 1973 by breathing in the vapors comming off the Constitution. That way they decided Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton to allow people to cut up little unborn babies, spray them with acid or suck out their brains.
The Pro-Aborts are against ultrasound tests of women planning to kill their unborn baby because on average 94% of those who see their unborn baby on the ultrasound picture change their mind.

You are absolutely right...EXCEPT, 99.9% of all abortion facilities ALREADY perform an ultrasound prior to the abortion-to determine the exact stage of the pregnancy. The difference would be that they will b e required o show the images to the mother. and YES, OVER 94% of those who see the unborn baby change their mind. BECAUSE they see that the FETUS is not just a blob of tissue!!!

I don't think I missed anything. I don't see anywhere in your previous posts where you offered to tone it down. If you did, point it out. I'd really like to see where you did that.
(By the way, I'm complimented that you keep calling me "wordsmith". I like it; it does me no disservice. It's hardly pejorative.

It was not meant to be offensive. You are in fact very good at creating sarcasm through your use of words. I find it a bit beneath anyone to use that ability to harm rather than do good deeds with it, but each to his own. You should have noticed that I have toned it down a lot due to posts by Rubicon and Bucco. They have shown me the right way to go rather than being sarcastic. They, like me talk straight and not silly sarcasm. Sorry that you thought I was not being kind when calling you a Word Smith. It was meant with the utmost respect for your offbeat, but skilled talent.

Regarding Rush - the customers of his sponsors have spoken loud and clear, and the advertisers have reacted by dumping him. Next, he will have his pants sued off. I hope he is requested to post a photo of that on the internet. BARF
IMHO
That's funny, but I'm sure the Democrat Party is asking Ms. Allred to shut up already.
To use the law that the noxious Ms. Allred is proposing would mean having to prove that the subject in question is a virginal girl who's being maligned.
Do you think 30 year old law student/reproductive rights activist Ms. Fluke is up to that kind of scrutiny?
This is the law that Ms. Allred is citing:
836.04 Defamation.—Whoever speaks of and concerning any woman, married or unmarried, falsely and maliciously imputing to her a want of chastity, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. History.—s. 1, ch. 3460, 1883; RS 2419; GS 3260; RGS 5091; CGL 7193; s. 990, ch. 71-136.
To show cause for action the state would be in the unenviable position of having to show that Ms. Fluke had been chaste in order to show the falsehood. Chastity is a pretty hard standard to demonstrate when measuring the meaning of that word. The word has only one meaning, so it would be difficult to rule in any way but one, if in fact Ms. Fluke isn’t chaste.
This could have the bonus effect of showing the world in a very public manner that Limbaugh had been right all along if the court is forced to conclude that Ms. Fluke was, in fact, not chaste. Couple that with the difficulty in showing malice on Limbaugh’s part, and this could prove to be something great for Limbaugh and a nightmare for Ms. Fluke.
This wouldn’t be the first time Allred caused a client more harm than good.
But, all Ms. Allred want's is her moment in front of the cameras for her media splash.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to post this. I was waiting for the appropriate time.

And this is how the left handles it when on attack...damn the law...we are entitled (used that word on purpose)
"A group calling itself "The Women of the 99 Percent" is making robocalls across the United States in an attempt to link Republican members of the House of Representatives to "the war on women led by Rush Limbaugh".
The automated calls are illegal because they do not state who they are from (there is no known group called The Women of the 99 Percent) or provide a callback number, as required under the US Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991."

Thanks Bucco; I figured since Jan brought it up, she would know what she was talking about in her earlier post.

A young lady voluntarily offers to provide information to an investigating commitee regarding womens health issues. She relates how a friend needed to use a medication to treat her health problems. It just happens to be a pharmaceutical that is also used in contraceptives....
Now we have a man with his own national radio show who goes on the air and calls her a prostitute and a slut. Use of a contraceptive DOES NOT equal multiple sexual partners. It does not equal being a prostitute nor a slut....
.... (W)here is your outrage about paying for Viagra perscriptions? Since the only use for Viagra is to promote sex, how can you possibly condone reimbursement for it?
My granddaughter has been on so-called "birth control pills" since the age of 12, most assuredly not for birth control but to prevent her from having to be hospitalized screaming in pain accompanied by tremendous loss of blood for a week each month. Yes, this is a pharmaceutical that is also used for contraception, and I support its being reimbursed for her and countless others. I do not support any coverage for Viagra since there is zero medical need for such a drug and am appalled at the hypocrisy of those who (for whatever their reasons) give tacit support to the latter by not condemning it while making crude, insulting, and inappropriate comments about those who (for whatever their reasons) need the former.

The free market will take care of Rush Limpbaugh. No sponsors equals no Rush. Aren't republicans big fans of the free market?

Twinkle - actually, I believe there IS a use for Viagara that is more along the lines of 'medically necessary' - has to do with treating blood pressure. It was during the human trials of seledifil citrate (the generic name) to see whether or not the blood pressure effects were what was desired that the patients started reporting the very curious side effect.

I'd be willing to bet that this time next year Rush's show still the number 1 talk show in the nation. Rush's huge audience will fuel his staying power, and advertisers will still want his audience.
