This is a link to the Washington Post obituary of Thomas Barfoot. He was a Medal of Honor recepient for action during WWII. He was a man of principle who stood up for his rights and for his country. He died in an accident at home at the age of 92.

I had the honor to meet LTC Barfoot one time at a reception at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs along with several other recepients of the Medal of Honor. America has lost one of the greatest of the Generation of the Great.

Thanks for the information, buggyone. I can empathize with LTC Thomas Barfoot.

I remember facing a lawsuit threat back around March 2, 2004 for just trying to keep a link to the Florida Victim Services Directory Victim Services Directory (http://myfloridalegal.com/directory) at the Palm Harbor Library (near Clearwater, FL). I said there was not one, the Palm Harbor reference staff I talked to said there was not one, but the Palm Harbor Library Director Gene Coppola insisted there was one. He had also been the Chairman of the Palm Harbor Board of Commerce right around or just before this time. I did e-mail people that there was no such link and got threatened with a lawsuit if I did not follow the cease and desist order from the rather well connected Palm Harbor Library attorney. The cease and desist order was about the fight I had trying to get a link to the Florida Victim Services Directory at the library I had volunteered at for three years before this (2000-2003).

Good to hear that this Medal of Honor at Thomas Barfoot winner stuck to his guns about showing the US flag in his front yard even with the lawsuit threat from the home owners' association.

It is important to fight what you believe in even if there is cost for it. I had also burned the bridges I had been trying to build by volunteering at Palm Harbor Library as well as at Palm Harbor Library's sister branch (East Lake Community Library) to get work references and connections for job possibilities.

I could not wait to move to the Villages in 2005 because of this lawsuit threat though.
