Seven (7) neatly tied bags of dog poop observed on south side of Talley Ridge Dr. between gate and postal station. I have seen them throw them down storm drains and in trash receptacles at postal stations but this is the first time I have seen them strewn along the street.

Maybe these bags are the result of someone's community service for criticizing the Morses here in the Villages??? :D

It's good to be lighthearted about this subject but it's very disappointing that people do this. It's so irresponsible. You would think that people that live in TV would have more pride in where they live. I know it's probably only a few out of 10's of thousands but it's still disappointing. Where I currently live, sometimes I drive down roads and see bags of garbage thrown on the side of the road. It makes me sad that people can be so reckless. Ok, you can continue with the jokes now...:):)

Actually, neatly tied bags of poop sounds like it is not someone saving up their dogs poop and then dumping it. It does actually sound like some Good Samaritan or worker collecting the poop, and then someone else is going to pick it up. Like a waste disposal truck.
There is a Good Samaritan who comes frequently to pick up the dog poop at a local dog run. Poop that other people have not picked up in a field that often has some dogs walking. This is not a dog park per se, just somewhere that people take there pooches. These are just "dog parks" that some Villagers and other local community dwellers have made from fields with nice owners.

No I don't think that. I am not certain how you connect my OP with starting a world war. Was your remark meant to be amusing, serious or sarcastic?
BTW, I expected at least one such response. It was just a question of who.

Before my doggie past away last year, ( still aching over her ) I would take her on a walk through our neighborhood in a circle. I didn't want to hold the poop bag full of poop the whole time, so I dropped the bag on the side of the road until I was ready to take the loop home where I would dispose of my poop bag.
Did I make sense here? I just didn't want to hold the poop bag during the entire walk.

...I found 2 plastic bags in the storm drain on Alandari in Duval. I picked them up and put them in the poop pail in the garage we use for our dog. Those people who throw dog poop in the drains are probably the same ones who toss their cigarets alongside any road. I am appalled at the stupidity of these slobs.

It makes no sense to me that someone goes to the trouble of picking up dog poop, only to leave it by roadside, or worse, stuck in the draining system. One act of good citizenships voided by the other!
Personally, when my dog "goes", I quickly pick it up using a Daily Sun plastic bag, tie it and carry it all the way home swinging it as we walk.

Hey , I think skyguy might have something here , I'm not thrilled with it but at least it shows promise and it just might work.......Usually the dumkoffs are walking their carnivores to the mail stations anyway and if there was a convenient place to dump the bags they just might do it ........anyway its probably better than what GARY had in mind when he built this place .What he wanted was everyone with a dog that had to go, was to lift the animal over the commode and SQUEEZE ...Whitch is why he only wanted knee high dogs to reside here ....any taller than that and the animal would be to heavy to lift.... not to mention the new comfort level stools......So my fellow Villagers ...we should pursue the this idea with vigor ......the only problem I see with it is in the month of July you might want pick up your mail in OCALA..

Since it is Survey Time, it's a good time to talk about the need for additional dog parks in The Villages. We love the fact that TV allows two dogs per household without size restrictions. BUT, when large numbers of dogs are allowed in a community, there will be trouble if Dog Parks are not provided. In a Dog Park, where people are required to pick up after their pets, there are bins provided for the refuse.
If Dog Parks are not provided, people will make postal stations into a substitute. Or they will walk the dogs in their local neighborhood which has led to many threads about pee stains on lawns.
I suggest we ask for more Dog Parks on the new Survey. It will give dog owners a convenient place to walk their dogs. For non owners, there is also a benefit, pristine lawns with no stress.
We don't have a dog in this fight. We will continue to take our dogs daily to a private non-Village Dog Park. We pay a monthly fee for this amenity and we are happy to do so.

Sadly I do not think people use my front lawn as a doggie rest area due to lack of dog parks. I have yet to figure out why something I could never imagine allowing my dog to do do, is acceptable behavior to what appear to be otherwise nice folks.

I would bet you are not a dog owner. I always have my male dog relieve himself on my own backyard lawn. I have no idea why but I do not have any dead grass from the urine, anywhere on my lawn. I do always rotate the area where I bring him on his leash.
Even though I always have my dog relieve himself on my back yard lawn before our walks, he will always find just a little bit of pee left to pee on the neighbor's lawns. It's a male thing.
The two local dog parks here in TV are out of the question for my elderly 17 1/2 year old Beagle. When I took him there, the parks were littered with poop and he has a "thing" for poop if you know what I mean.

IMO and based on all of our dogs through our lives, dogs only do what they are allowed to do, except when they are pups and still learning.

There's no sign at the Lynnhaven Postal Station. It just seems to be a general garbage can.
I have seen the janitorial service pick these bags up around 9 p.m. at Lynnhaven and they just throw all the bags from the various stations at the Postal Station and pool in the back of a pick-up truck.

The key word here is "intentionally". I don't bring my dog out for a walk to have him relieve himself on other people's property. I make sure he goes on my back yard lawn before we venture out on our walk for exercise. I just haven't found the magic wand to make the dog not mark his spot as we traverse the neighborhood. As I said in my previous post...it's a male thing. I'm not sure female dogs are inclined to do that.

But if your dog starts to stray from the pavement, which I assume you are both walking on, towards someone's lawn because he wants to mark his spot, can't you give a gentle tug on the leash and a verbal reminder to keep him where he belongs? I really believe it is possible for both you and your dog to have a great walk without visiting the neighbors lawn. And yes, I'm a dog owner and this is how our walks are.

So if you're not one who allows their dog to intentionally walk onto anothers lawns, thereby giving the pooch the opportunity to mark it's spot if it so choses, then you're not one of those of whom I was speaking of.

Well at our home in NY after months of please could ya if you don't mind diplomacy three things worked very well.
In the winter and summer the neighbor let his HUGE LABS deposit on our lawn. After about a week you could not walk in our right of way! Kids could not go out to play in the side yard
When we had snow I found out a Ariens Snowblower on full throttle cleaned up my lawn and made a very decortive landscape on his.
In the summer well a 150 mph leaf blower also worked well.
When the neighbor came over on my property to play tough guy, threaten and blame me for his rude behavior I found out my concealed carry permit in conduction with a 911 cell phone also worked well.
When the Dogs bit my son I found out a lawyer worked very well.
Soon there were no more Dogs! Cause the owner had a choice. Keep the Dogs and no homeowners insurance or loose the Dogs and keep homeowners insurance!
I love Dogs have had many of them walk em love em enjoy em but keep their feces off neighbors property.

I do love Dogs. We have had many of them give us and the kids love and companionship. People can walk em love em enjoy em but keep their feces off neighbors property. And throwing it down the storm sewers is just plain revolting. It all runs down into the Aquifers.
But Opps that will start a bump on the need for clean drinking water filtration! :posting:

But if your dog starts to stray from the pavement, which I assume you are both walking on, towards someone's lawn because he wants to mark his spot, can't you give a gentle tug on the leash and a verbal reminder to keep him where he belongs? I really believe it is possible for both you and your dog to have a great walk without visiting the neighbors lawn. And yes, I'm a dog owner and this is how our walks are.
I see your point. Yes, I do give him a tug on the leash and yes he marks his spot on the street most of the time. He is a Beagle and loves to sniff everything around him, including the lawns. He is probably sniffing the scents of other dogs, actually.
