RichieLion, I could use some help here: Around 1:15 pm today, Rush commented on a report written by Dr. Lundell, heart surgon. The essence of it was that inflammation is what causes heart disease, not saturated fat and cholesterol. And inflammation is caused by eating highly processed foods like white flour, sugar, omega 6 etc..
I'll give him partial credit where credit is due but I'm not sure that he got it all right. Can you come up with a transcript of what he said on this subject? If so, I may have further comments. I believe he was wrong to say that cholesterol and saturated fat do not play a role in causing heart disease.
Thanks
P.S. A quick Yahoo! search turned up the following: "Dr Lundell's clinical testing led to the development of a unique supplement designed to reduce inflammation, HeartShot [TM] developed by Asantae." He is the Chief Medical Officer of Asantae and his mission is to travel around the country promoting this inflammation reducing supplement. So already we know there may very likely be bias in his report. And what about Rush? Was he hoodwinked, or is he in on the promotion of HeartShot?
Also, I found the (March 1, 2012) paper that was partially quoted by Rush. The heading is: World Renown Heart Surgeon Speaks Out On What Really Causes Heart Disease.

OK, I tracked down the information you requested. Being a Rush 24/7 member helped to track down the story.
Rush was impressed by this article on "SignsOfTheTimes.net" that Dr. Dwight Lundell wrote, on what Dr. Lundell says is the real cause of heart disease.
Rush Limbaugh was virtually reading this article and the opinions are the doctor's, and I guess Rush agrees with the findings. It seems to validate some previous opinions he had.
This is the article Rush was reading:
Heart Surgeon Speaks Out On What Really Causes Heart Disease -- Health & Wellness -- Sott.net (http://www.sott.net/articles/show/242516-Heart-Surgeon-Speaks-Out-On-What-Really-Causes-Heart-Disease)
Here's some much more on Dr. Lundell at "TheTruthAboutHeartDisease.com"

Thanks, RichieLion. By the time I found the article on Yhaoo!, and printed it, I then noticed that you located it too. But I appreciate the fact that you provided the links to make it easier for others who may wish to read it. I will take my time reading what I printed out, give it some thought, and may have some comments later.
Note: If you back up to my first post on this thread you will see some of my comments that I edited in.

Dr. Sears, of the Zone philosophy, wrote about inflammation inside the body causing disease, back in 1995. So it's not a new discovery as Dr. Lundell has suggested. Also, he blames the low-fat diet for causing inflammation which in turn causes heart trouble. But it's not low-fat per se that causes problems. It's the wrong kind of fat (i.e., fats high in omega 6) like you would get from grain fed beef, grain-fed (farm-raised) fish and most oils other than olive oil. It's those items along with all processed foods that cause inflammation and heart trouble. Once again, a low fat diet per se is NOT the cause of heart disease. Dr. Dean Ornish has been reversing coronary heart disease for his patients for over two decades using a LOW-FAT vegetarian diet.
In his article, Dr. Lundell says: "To build muscle, eat more protein." Why recommend "more" when the average American already eats too much animal protein, which has the effect of displacing healthier foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes and limited amounts of whole grains.
I believe Rush likes Lundell's diet plan because he needs a high protein diet to control his weight. And besides, he loves animal protein and dislikes vegetables, legumes and other healthier choices.
