On the subject of charitable contributions, Romney donates well over 10% but last year Santorum donated less than 2% of his income to charity. When asked about this, he replied that he has a disabled son with many medical costs that are not covered by health insurance and it costs a lot of money for the medical necessities.

If a millionaire like Santorum has to spend a good portion of his salary on uncovered health care necessities for a disabled son, what kind of a burden is paid for those who are not millionaires but middle or lower class Americans in that same situation? This sounds like a prime reason that the Affordable Care Act is important to Americans.

I was waiting for something about Santorum's child to come out. Mind you, I really respect what he's done as far as doing what necessary to care for his child. I may disagree with him in MANY areas, but I can't help but to respect him for that.

He makes 7 figures. If *he* can barely afford it - what chance does that give the rest of us?

From what I know about the act, your point is well taken and certainly should be addressed, in my opinion, at the STATE level. Federal government has done nothing about LOWERING costs, simply using taxpayer money to pay for it AND the entire idea of the act was to save money but they never got to it.

Maybe joining Obama's in his plea and attending a prayer meeting outside the Supreme Court while they take up the questions involving ObamaCare will help.

Things get stranger and stranger with this President.

The story was in the NY Times, but I like The Blaze's take on it. You can link the original Times story from this page if you're so inclined.

Seems to me that one thing the government could do is something they do in many of their branches concerning acquisition.

Simply put, the government demands a supplier provide the material (goods and/or services) at the lowest cost offered to anyone else.

If Medicare did the same for drugs - demanding the same price that a drug company accepts when selling to Canada or Germany - the results would speak for themselves.
