Hello all. I am being referred to a memory doctor for some testing. My primary care doctor thinks I will benefit. Has anyone else had this done? I need to schedule an appointment but would like some input/feedback prior!
Thank you,
Mildred

Hello MildredinTheVillages,
My neurologist referred me for memory testing a few months back. It took a couple of hours but was actually very interesting. The results put my mind at ease and I am glad I did it. Good Luck!

Thank you, HappyVillager! Do you remember who you saw for your appointment?

The FSU office in Lake Sumter Landing does free memory testing. It is a preliminary test that takes about 1/2 hour. Once you have this test, you can then decide whether you need further testing or more intense testing. They have a waiting list, but it is worth it! And, the price is great!

Thank you, Villager. I had the memory screening done. Discussed it with my doctor and he thinks I should have additional testing.

You are going to laugh but I can't remember the doctor's name! I do however remember he is called "The Memory Doctor". I am sure you can find him online. Hope that helps....

No worries! I was able to find an office address. The Memory Doctor AKA Dr. Mason is located in Clermont. Unfortunately, my golf cart stays in The Villages!

Any neurologist would address memory issues. Their expertise is the brain and nervous system. Also you can get a cab to take you if you don't have a car.

Thank you, Golfinmy80s! That is the name of the doctor I saw. He has an office right near the Sharon Morse building which is golf cart accessible. Don't put it off Mildred, there are lots of things they can do to help with your memory if there is a problem. Best to catch it early!

Suggest you practice on-line....just google memory test or memory quiz. This is not scientific but will give you an idea of what to expect.

Thanks for letting a TV Wannabe ask ?'s
On the subject of memory. Are any of you using any of the computer programs that say that they exercise the brain to ward off memory loss? I have been using a memory program written by former Ohio State and NBA player Jerry Lucas since I was a senior in college. I wish I had learned the memory system before senior year.

Thank you all! I was able to contact the office. I have scheduled an appointment in TV. I am a bit nervous/anxious. I will let you all know how it goes. The Clermont office has the same number as TV office (352) 243-5901.

Well, I had the testing done. It was in fact a couple hours. When I arrived I must admit I was scared/anxious. The doctor was very compassionate. The staff was friendly as well. I have to wait a couple weeks for my results. I would recommend The Memory Doctor. I am glad I went and can't wait to hear the results.

Saw Dr. Mason last week. We took our neighbors. He shares an office with Dr. Smirnoff - Neurologist. Very nice set up with courteous staff. They are doing new things with memory improvment.

I was also very pleased with the staff. My husband enjoyed the waiting room's television! I have an appointment scheduled with Dr. Smirnoff in a few weeks. I will let you know how it goes!
