This was for demonstrating at the DC Sudanese embassy. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/16/george-clooney-arrested-dc-_n_1353441.html?1331910563&icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D144066

He-- along with a number of other celebrities-- has been on this cause against the genocide in Darfur a long time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Darfur This seems more though along the lines of the humanitarian aid not getting into the Sudan. http://www.jewishworldwatch.org/takeaction/sudan/boiling-point-in-sudan

George Clooney got his $100 bail but not before making Twitter go crazy.

Hope he got a lot of awareness for the problems in Sudan.

He has worked very hard on this cause. Why is it that the American people and their representatives turn the blind eye on the situation?

Not sure how much we can really do about this horror. Does the United Nations have any really teeth yet to go in there and stop the various humanitarian crimes? Where would the troops come from to enforce the sanctions if the United Nations required some??

I do not know that much about this area of Africa. George Clooney's arrest does make me want to find out more though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_response_to_the_War_in_Darfur

Well now, good question. Maybe the same forces that got involved in the Serbian, Libyan, Kuwait etc.

This Nina Shea article from the National Review goes quite a more into the politics of George Clooney and the Sudan problems.

Didn't realize they had oil. Would have thought the oil baron and Military Industrial Complex invasion long ago.
