Walgreen is offering shingles vaccines on March 30th. If you have preffered Care as your health insurance the cost is $55. You need to go to walgreen and pick up the form and make an appointment. Don't know if it is all Walrgreens but the one at 441 and Rolling Acres is doing it. This is a bargain for these vaccinations and a good idea as Shingles can be extremely unpleasant.

That's an understatement ! A friend of my mom's, in her mid 80's got shingles, and was "down" for quite a while.

RichieB: You are so correct, Shingles can be very unpleasant. My best friend, is a doctor, which I go to and he said, all men over 55 should have a vaccination for shingles. Had mine last year at 55 with no side effects.

Another vaccine that should be considered is for tetanus. There is a relatively new version which is good for 10 years. I got one last year, and my doctor, who is 58 years old, told me that I'd be getting my next tetanus shot from a new doctor.

Maybe the next one will be from a doctor in The Villages.

It wasn't covered by my health care policy. I knew that going in. It cost me $219.99. Well worth it if it keeps me from the nastiness of Shingles.
