A good idea is for someone to call the hospital and ask them.

Do Canadian Hospitals accept US patients who are on Medicare?

I'm just guessing but, if this is correct (and Gracie is right...just takes a phone call), it may not be the hospital that won't accept the insurance...it may be the insurance won't work with the hospital. Same with a Canadian hospital not accepting Medicare...will Medicare pay the hospital? We get these calls all the time "Do you take our dental insurance?"...the answer is yes..we will take any insurance. The question is...will YOUR insurance work with us? Many times it's not the medical provider..it's the insurance industry. Just throwin in my 2 cents. :)

tHERE IS A LIST OF PROVIDER WITH WHICH THE HOSPITAL HAS A CONTRACT. iF YOUR PROVIDER IS NOT ON THE LIST YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED AS A SELF PAY. THE I WOULD IMAGINE YOU WOULD HAVE TO SETTLE UP WITH YOUR PROVIDER. OUR MEDICARE IS THE SAME WAY. NOT ALL PROVIDERS ARE COVERED IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES. I GUESS THIS SOUNDS FAIR SO IT WOULD BEHOVE US TO LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE WE TRAVEL..
