We have an Amarillo with bisque cabinetry. The front of the island facing the living area looks like plastic laminate. We would like to cover it with beadboard wainscoting. Has anyone done something similar? If so, what kind of material have you used? We would supply the beadboard. We need a handy person with stools to install it. Can anyone suggest a contractor?

Thanks.

From what I've read on this forum, Tim The Tool Man does good handy work. If you go under a thread for contractors, I'll bet you could get some info. I don't live in TV yet, but when I do I will be contacting him for odd jobs. Hope it all turns out great! His name is Tim Miller - 352-217-0516

We have looked at a lot of Amarillos and recently saw one with a tile backsplash in the kitchen and the same tile on the front of the island. It was the best look I have seen by far.

Good timing as we had wainscoating put on our island in February. Our house is a Lantana and the work was done by Creative Finish Carpentry of Florida (Creative Finish Carpentry (http://creativefinishcarpentry.com/)). We went with the higher cost option they offered which was $700. We love it as it really gives us the beach feel that we wanted.

I like it!!!! I want to have something similar done to ours so am happy to see how it will look as sometimes what we tend to "picture" in our minds doesn't pan out quite what we had planned!!!

Terrific look to that counter. I was looking for an idea and that's a good one. The only thing I would add to mine is a foot rail so that my swivel stools don't mar the carpentry.

Very, very nice.

I love the way that looks. I love the color on your walls. Beautiful!

Thanks. The concept for the walls in the kitchen/living room was to extend and bring the color of our pool into the house which then gave us the idea of this particular wainscoating. And in the interest of giving credit where credit is due the color selection was the work of Ruth Dyer who writes a column in the Saturday paper in the Home & Garden section.
