A few days ago I asked where to buy dog food here (https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/all-about-pets-120/dog-food-where-buy-50815/)

Well since then I went and looked around not much other than back at home like petco etc & smaller stores standard prices.

A very good friend of mine operates a large mail order supply place in NY and we got talking about the void in the market here, limited selection not really competitive pricing etc.

He came up with an idea where folks here could place orders and someone that lives local near the villages would deliver the dog food or any other supplies to your door once a week.

He says he can beat anyone's prices locally.

So he would like to gauge your interest level in offering that service

A question...how is this going to be different from ordering online and having the nice UPS man deliver it? Do you think the prices would be better, including the delivery fee?

His idea would be that there would be no shipping/delivery fees or sales tax and the prices would still be lower.

Otherwise there would be no incentive for the pet owner.

He offers over 40,000 supplies and the typical Petco has 7,000 always at a higher cost.

A small independent has maybe 2,000 different items.

He says that if TV has 48,000 homes typically 65% own pets, that's why he's trying to gauge the interest level.

If the prices are good and he also has flea products I would be interested. Also interested in food ONLY if he carries food like Blue Buffalo or High Plains.

Opps, It's Nature's Variety,Prarie....not High Plains and we get it from Amazon now. It's kind of expensive...$45 for 30 pounds. We do get free shipping. Don't really know much about it other then the ingredients looks excellent and the girls love it. Of course one is a daushund and they will eat anything, and I do mean anything.

Yes, but as of now there's not yet enough feedback here demand wise, so he needs to see how many are interested at least initially.

So keep the comments coming, I'll forward them to him.
