View Full Version : The Weather Channel
Is is just me - or has the Weather Channel become just another "reality" show channel?
I went to their website and found the only time they seem to show the weather is in the mornings (I work). So if I want to see the weather, I have to tune in at 4pm, 7pm or 10pm. The rest of the time are shows like Ice Pilots/Lifeguards/Coast Guard Alaska.
How many of you actually tune in to watch those shows?

They have succumbed to the entertainment "value" of television rather than to continue the "information" value.
I got frustrated trying to get the weather on there. Instead, I use my computer to access TWC and get what I need rather quickly. :o
(Another good channel on television goes downhill, as have most others.)

Agree with you...unless there is major snowstorm, tornado outbreak or hurricane most of the nighttime and weekend programming are now reality type shows. I like some episodes of "Cantore's Stories", but prefer the previous weather only format.

TWC and The Golf Channel are now owned by NBC which is owned by none other than Comcast. That pretty much sums up the problem with TWC programming.

I don't watch the Weather Channel on the TV, but on their website I get all the weather information I need; hourly forcast breakdown of temperature, humidity, chance of rain and wind. Can even get long term forcasts up to 30 day in temperature estimates.

When I need to know the weather forecast I go to the internet for my specific area.
FYI - I find accuweather.com to be more accurate than weather.com

A few years ago, Jay Leno joked that more people watched The Weather Channel than NBC. About a year later, NBC bought TWC and it has went down hill since. I think NBC put the boring, repetitive shows on TWC to get people to watch something else. TWC doesn't have live programing during the Tonight Show.
