We are going to be seasonal in TV. Just bought a house. I am a bit confused on the lawn care. We have a co. for our termite contract. We need someone for lawn care. What does lawn care include? I have read about cinch bugs? Can anyone explain this to me a bit better. Do you need a different co for each service? We are talking about a small lot with a ranch home on it.

The new Zoyzia Grass is Cinch Bug resistant. They hate the taste of it. Or so my lawn care service informed me. I had the same question.

Interview several contractors. Stellar took good care of us. However some do not like the yearly pay up front contracts.

I like Stellar. You don't have to pay a year up front - they give you a discount if you do.

St Augustine grass is chinch bug salad. You have to have a lawn services treat it, plus fertilize and weed control. You must also water it regularly. We also have pest treatment around the house to keep out Palmetto bugs and their little friends. Most companies will do it all.

There are three or four different things you want. You got termites covered. You need someone to put down fertilizer and weed killer in your yard. You probably want someone to treat for "pests" like ants and other critters that can get into your home. Usually they do outdoor barriers around the foundation of your house. That's three things. The last is to cut, trim, edge and blow off your yard every week or so. If you use two or three or four different companies, and something goes wrong, there can be finger-pointing from each against the other. Having the same company for all (except maybe the grass cutting) avoids that.

Our Termite contract is good until 11/2019. Does this mean I should go with them for the rest if I agree with the terms? Then I would just have to hire a cutting service? Who takes care of the irrigation service? Thank you for all your help.

What kind of grass does the builder put in?

we have bought a pre-existing house. Site unseen. I am sure it was whatever kind of grass that was put in back in 1999. Wow, I am getting an education. Hope to have this all sorted out before the grass dies!.

When we first moved to TV, we had a lawn cutting company, and Bates for pests, and another company to trim shrubs and take care of weeds. Now we deal with only one guy who works in our neighbourhood and does it all. He has a license to spray for pests. Easy peasy. One stop shopping.

The amount of companies you have to deal with depends on who you choose for lawn care. Some lawn cutting companies have a pesticide license and will spray for pests, and will also trim shrubs, fertilize palms, etc.

"St Augustine grass is chinch bug salad." That says it all! Snack on game on may the best lawn control win! The battle is on! A person told me he saw a entier lawn destroyed in days from those critters.

What does TV put in when building? Zoyzia or St. Augustine?

Zoysia now, but they were using St. Aug about 5 years ago. I have Zoysia (2009) and the only problem I have is mole crickets. This is treatable I use Ortho Max.

Zoysia in our home - St. James. Had cinch bugs once in St. Augustine on St. Aug grass and yes, they can do damage!
