George Zimmerman made a brief appearance in court today and said only two words "Yes Sir" when asked a question. The Probable Cause Affidavit filed today said that Zimmerman confronted Martin and that Martin's mother identified the screams as being from Trayvon.
The next hearing is scheduled for May 29 at 1:30pm. No bond was requested today, so Zimmerman will remain in police custody.

The police report said Martin's father said the screams were not his son's. Just from a legal prospective, I think that is bad for the prosecution. I wonder if this case will get the same publicity that Casey Athony received. I doubt it. I think the ongoing search for little Caley (I hope I spelled that right) and the fact that it was a toddler who was murdered and dumped in a trashbag in a swamp made that more sensational. Plus, the American television audience has a short memory.

I think the circus is back in town!
The TV stations keep repeating the same stuff over and over and over. I am tired of it already.

the local media is amateur level at best. Last night Diane Sawyer was the only national news station with enough sense to stop after the wasted 30 minute news at 6:30 followed by another 30 minutes to repeat what was said in the first 30 minutes.
We call the 11 pm news from Wesh the murder and rape update. When I first moved here I wrote the GM of WESH and told him that if a person had to make a decision on whether to move to FL based on what they report.....nobody would live here. He stated they report what the majority want to see/hear. I could only say....really...you are kidding. He said he was not!!!!
I guess it is easier navigating in the gutter than the higher ground.

I realized early that watching the local on air news media was akin to reading the national enquirer.

What do you mean, Posh? Of course Sanford is TV discussion area, to me at least, and obviously a few others. Where do you think this discussion belongs?

The point was that this thread was originally posted in the wrong forum on TOTV. It has since been moved to the correct forum, i.e. “Non Villages Discussions”.

:agree:
Totally agree with you Bogie!! The Reverand windbags have tried and convicted Zimmerman. Now please!! My comment is not meant to mean that Zimmerman is innocent and should walk away, so no negative comments PLEASE. I want to see him have his day in court. It is going to be near impossible to find a fair and impartial jury with all the air time that this story received in the media.

It is going to be near impossible to find a fair and impartial jury with all the air time that this story received in the media.I've been thinking and saying similar for some time now, thanks to the Sharptonestas and ratings seeking media out there. However, I think that seating a jury will be easier than one would think since most anyone interviewed out of the jury pool, during the selection process, who strongly believes he's guilty or innocent will not admit that fact or will try to conceal it. Couple that with as politically pressured a prosecution effort might be, I believe there's little or no chance that a fair trial or true justice can occur for either Zimmerman or Martin, no matter what people might think, and that's sad!

There is a compelling case to be made that the special prosecutor has in fact been influenced by all the rhetoric surrounding this event, and because of that it seems pretty clear that she has overcharged on the complaint.

I find this a clear and rational analysis of what has happened.
