Just read an article that during the election year politicians will consistently say every thing is going good economy is better etc. This is what was said during the depression years in 1929 1930 when fact it was getting worse. This you can read in history. If this happens and I expect it to and the Federal reserve doesnt release funds as they didn't in 1930-33 we will hit the worst economy ever.

Gas is high, home prices down, the deficit continues to explode, the government handout rolls are historic. Yup, things are fantastic.

I really hope you are wrong, but if you just sit back and watch us spend money in this country.

Our government cannot be all things to so many people...it just cannot sustain itself.

I can understand what you are saying but ... I just returned from a 2 week Caribbean cruise and you could not tell any recession was going on at all. Our ship (Celebrity Constellation) was pretty filled with passengers (2,000) and we were in St. Maarten with the Navigator of the Seas (3,000), Grand Princess (4,000), Norwegian Epic (over 5,000) and one smaller ship (900) passengers. These are not the 1% but most appeared to be "upper-middle" class people and this was not a one time event. These ships are sailing at near capacity all year in Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean each and every week. Do the math. Lots of people either have the money to do these cruises or will be paying for the cruises with credit cards for a long time.

Last I read the deficit is down 6% from last year. It's still huge by historic standards but the "exploding" has already happened.

Is it a Republican requirement to be pessimistic? Oh that's right, Barack Obama is President.

Not sure how to respond to these posts, but YES the deficit in Feb was down 6% from last year, rose in March and CBO says it "may" show a reduction by the end of the year of a small pct. If that is good news, then great if it makes all happy.

On the other hand, nah.....not pessimistic EXCLUSIVELY because Obama is President, but his track record and his past policies lead me to not be happy about the future. He is touting something that is a political game as some kind of savior...he ignored the panel he put together, etc. SO give me a reason to be optimistic...every time I ask that, I never get an answer but will try to be optimistic

I always tell people especially young people to read history because it will parallel itself. This post is not dem. or rep. I would say these things no matter who was in office. I am only bring up the fact that every thing is setting up the same as what happened in 1930's . One thing I hope that all the grandparents out there will do is encourage your grand kids to read about history, because what happened yesterday is bound to happen again and again. Everyone must agree with that no matter what political party you support. The only thing that will improve the country is for obama to be voted out. I am not crazy about Romney but if that is the choice so be it. And I would say this if the tables were turned. There are so much negative about the man and distrust is where the problem is. Of course there is a lot of distrust with Romney but this is the system that we work with. obama may have some good ideas but he is unable to get the trust of congress and the people of America behind him. In business you need to meet people half way in order the accomplish any thing, and he has not done that. I have two dogs and in order to get them to do what I want them to do I have to learn what they are willing to do that's how it is with people. This election will be a crap shoot I just hope we don't get snake eyes. God help us. There are too many good people in this country to be sold down the river this way.

When do you know a politician is lying? When his/her lips move. And if that isn't enough government agencies statistics are infamous for being wrong, spun to advantage the user, or meaningless.

So why is anyone surprised. Politicians will tell you what you want to hear. They are good at spouting off popular slogans...a chicken in every pot. Let's make the rich pay their fair share. women are victims because of Republican policies blah blah blah.

Government is way too involve in our lives
