My wife and I played golf with another couple. We decided to go get breakfast. Panera's a Lake Sumter Landing was suggested. It was the first time and last time I will ever go there. Prices were high the layout confusing and the selection available at 10:30AM limited

I agree, not a whole lot at Panera's for breakfast unless you want a bagel or a quiche. But for soups, salads and sandwiches, I think they are great. Also, some real good breads.

........Prices were high .......

If you want high prices at a Panera, come on up to central OH. The 2 stores there in TV are at least 10-15% less for what we normally get!

Sandy likes their soups, sandwiches, and smoothies. I just stick with the cinnamon crunch bagels!

As long as they have Bear Claws, I don't care what else they have. :duck: Plus, the Panera in The Villages is considerably CHEAPER & YUMMIER than the ones in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Panera in SS is much better managed than the one at LSL in my humble opinion. The one in LSL is managed poorly. They are usually out of the good bagels by 9 AM every day. I have tried at least 10 times to buy a loaf of sourdough bread and never been successful. I talked to a person in charge there and they said they deliberatly try to run out of everything so they don't have to waste anything. I have run a business in my life. The goal was to have product (make a profit) to sell to customers. If I sold enough a little waste was acceptable. To never have any is riduculous. The clerks at LSL will stand and have personal conversations and not even break up a conversation to wait on customers. The staff needs to be motivated. They are not. The staff needs to understand that they are in a customer service business but they do not care. On a 1 - 10 rating I would give that operation a 1. There is a lot more money to be made there. Obviously they don't care. :swear::swear::swear:

I agree about the lackadaisical attitude of the employees. Went there yesterday and had a bowl of soup with a piece of bread and an iced tea and it was $8.50! Never again!

We also found the employees(some) to be less than enthusiastic

Went for a cup of soup one evening but also noticed a sticky bun. With a smile, she gave me the bun for free. I realize that they won't be selling it next morning but thought it was a nice touch.

I agree about the attitude of some of the cashiers at panera's at LSL.They just don't seem to have the professionalism you'd expect.I do like the cinnamon swirl bagel. On the other hand,it's not always the case and not worth getting up in arms about.More and more I find myself ignoring life's little discomforts and just move on.

Any time folks want to stay away from Panera at Lake Sumter, it makes me happy. I hate crowds!

Hi jblum315 I am curious why is this an endless boring "I love it" I hate it" pointless restaurant discussion as opposed to a discussion trying to determine various experiences by residents to determine if your good/bad experience was an anonmaly or in fact the actual caliber of said restaurant. I mean don't business survey their customers once a product is purchased or a service completed. Is there something most of us are missing here? Please I am truly interested in your opinion.

I have eaten at Paneras in several states and find the layouts, prices and food quality all about the same. Although I have not eaten at the SS location I have eaten several times at the LSL Panera and found it typical for the franchise. I definitely would go there again. They treated me just fine, were quite friendly and engaging and once the staff went out of their way to get me something while they were closing.

Panera's is great. Anyone that doesn't like it doesn't like good food and service!

And another thing...............reasonably priced coffee. Unless they've changed their policy - - - if you go to either Panera in TV and tell them you'd like a "travel mug refill", the cost for your coffee is something like $1.17 or so. Gotta bring your own travel mug!!!

I don't think this is a thread about Panera.... This is a thread about Panera LSL. I think pretty much everyone loves Panera and yes, Panera LSL has their moments of getting it right. But if your go in there time after time (which we do BECAUSE we love Panera) and they are out of their product.... there just might be a problem.

An example of the employees not paying attention.... Hubby and I walked in there one morning for breakfast. I ordered what I wanted with hubby standing next to me, she took my order told my husband what the charge was and didn't take his order. Before he could say anything.... she went on to the next person in line!

I think it's great for the people who got the "free" pastries, but for the person "trying" to order a sandwich that comes on sourdough bread and they are out of sourdough bread at lunch.... I think they may have a problem. :ohdear:

I actually don't go to Panera for breakfast, but like stopping there after a walk for coffee and a "yummie"!!! And boy do they make some "yummies". Yum Yum!! If I want breakfast at Sumter Landing, I would go to Too Jays, which has a breakfast menu. I just love sitting outside with coffee and "yummie" and watching the people etc. Nice atmosphere. I have seen some people go in ther with their own mug and take coffee without paying. Filler up and walk out to landing across the street. They used to put out samples, but some people would over indulge!!!! But lets face it, some people are going to like a place and some people are not. I'd rather not complain, and just go on and enjoy those "yummies" How lucky we are to have some of these places so close. Just a cart ride away!! hehehe :mornincoffee::laugh::bigbow:
