View Full Version : Unmarked patrol car in TV
Today I passed a car that was pulled over by what looked like a gray sedan with blinkers and an officer writing a citation. This was off Morse Blvd. at Mallory Hill CC. This was the first time I've seen unmarked patrol. Has anyone else?
I've seen it a number of times....many times on Wednesday AM when I'm heading to bowling. Generally someone has been pulled over, presumably for exceeding the speed limit.

Yes, I have seen unmarked police cars that have pulled over cars for tickets quite a few times. Be careful of the speed limits that are posted. They mean business and a ticket costs a lot of money.

I've seen an unmarked Gray Charger with dark side and rear windows and a normal Fla License plate with the officer manually operating the traffic signals at Buenos Aires and 441. Also an unmarked Black Explorer and a Black Charger at an accident on 42.
Much harder to pick them out now that many don't drive Crown Vics. I read that the Austin Texas Police bought up a few years supply of Crown Vics while they were still being sold by Ford.

So, as you can see, there are a BUNCH of unmarked police cars out there. Oh, and I saw a pick up truck as an unmarked vehicle, too, so be aware.

Today I was stopped at the red light on 466 in the westbound lanes in front of Walgreens. What caught my attention was to my left was a gray charger with dark windows, darker than what's allowed by law. Back in Maryland the state police use similar vehicles on I-95, so I was paying attention to him. When the light turned green I started off slow because why waste the gas, my car is silver and sporty looking, the Charger takes off about as fast as you can without burning rubber. He was 100' past me in 5 seconds and soon he was out of sight and I forgot about it until now. Makes me think he was trying to bate me or someone else into racing him.

I saw it on 466 today also. Solid black rims and tires. Good looking Charger.

Maybe, but maybe not....might have had a call. My brother in law was a state police officer and one evening he was "haulin' a**" so to speak. Someone took exception to this and got him to stop....not sure exactly how they accomplished this with their car, but Wayne stopped. The civilian began to "read him the riot act" and Wayne just listened for a bit and then drew the driver's attention to the cooler sitting in the patrol car. Wayne was delivering an organ to the hospital.
Guess I sort of give the police the benefit of the doubt more than others might since we had one in the family. Was always happy when he returned from work each day. It's a risky job, without a doubt.

Unfortunately, it takes a fast car to catch some of the scofflaws......and it will generally consume a lot of fuel as a necessity of being able to go fast.

Yep cause that large SUV is needed just in case a snow storm hits the villages, and that vet is just cause it makes them look good

The way to catch the major scofflaws in TV is to get a souped up golf cart!
The section across the street from Lake Maonia rec center is like a drag strip...... I had a cart pass me with "GREEN HORNET" on the back,, he was out of sight before I knew it! I would love to see some radar on the cart paths,,, I know they cant,, but it gets very dangerous at times,

It's annoying that the system is corrupted by revenue. Back in NY, most speeding violations get reduced to noise violation or something similar so the local community gets to keep the fine dollars. An actual speeding violation fine goes to the state. It's truly counter productive because the state has a good point system. Three points for speeding, nine points and they pull your license. But since few violations get recorded as speeding, not many points recorded. Of course that's the way the local community likes it. They prefer everyone have the opportunity to continue getting tickets, and fines. If they really wanted to enforce the speed limits, and make the highways safer, they could do a better job without fines.

something wrong with this story ???????
delivering an organ - lights and siren would be justified for delivering and organ
stopped by a civilian when hauln a** ??????
listened for a bit when civilian read him the riot act ?????

My feelings exactly, but Wayne didn't lie. Not sure if it was needed for transplant....probably not...without sirens, but he had a "part" on ice.... and it needed to be delivered. There was more to the story....but the point was we might not always know why a patrol car is "moving right along" so to speak.
One thing, he was a good cop....and actually was very happy to retire... ;)

Was traveling south on Morse 4 days after we closed last year and got nabbed by the grey unmarked car; he gave me a ticket for doing 39 mph in a 30 mph zone. Now every time I travel in TV I use cruise control; it's amazing how many people tailgate and blow their horn for me to speed up.

Winter Park has a 2011 Mustang GT in Red that they won. Its totally unmarked until the array of police lights are turned on.
Orlando has a 2012 Taurus in white; same thing plus array of SUV's.

Pooh got the story a little wrong. My BIL was traveling fast down a highway late at night and noticed the car behind him was keeping pace with him and, thus, grossly exceeding the speed limit. He put on his lights, slowed down and pulled the guy over. The guy started to complain that the police can do what they want on the highways that normal citizens get tickets for.
That's when he showed the guy the box with the organ. The organ was due at the hospital at a specific time and he had enough time to get it there even with the time he spent with the guy he pulled over.

for me the police can tighten up a lot more. More tickets...I would like to see TV gain a reputation for being a speed trap area...you know like the ones we all seem to know about and slow down when going through them.
Yup book the beep out of the violators until they/we slow down.....NO WARNINGS...just monetary ticketing.
book 'em Dano.

Oh Rubicon....I would love to meet your friend.... ;) especially since he'll be able to get into heaven....tell him he has to wait there for the rest of us...we might not have such great stories.... :)
Nope, not a made up story....and Mike provided more of the details for me later in the thread. I'd forgotten some of the specifics...this happened around 35 years ago.

I know Pooh well and I absolutely assure you that no stories will be needed for Pooh to get in those gates.
When she arrives, and I hope it will be a thousand years from now, St. Peter will have assembled a parade and a brass band and all of his legions of angels and archangels.
Any post of Pooh's is gospel, unless you read it in the "just for fun" forum.
Now me? Well that is another story. If any on you get there first. Please leave a window cracked.
You're very kind, Gracie. My feeling is when St. Peter sees all of us....well :D:D:D who knows, maybe he writes on TOTV and we're all going to be in trouble.....:laugh::laugh:

Most of the police cars in Hawaii look like this:
Honolulu Police Vehicles (More pictures) (http://elightbars.org/f79/honolulu-police-vehicles-more-pictures-3693/)
I believe more than half of the cars are only marked by the blue light. Now they have switched to a small flat bar that looks like a luggage rack from a distance. Almost impossible to spot at night.
