I have seen my test light go off sometimes (when I see it) on Wednesdays....but it has been a long time since any alerts (recognizing) there has not been very much going on until recently.

Our weather radio went off Friday afternoon due to a tornado alert for NE Lake County. I don't recall seeing any weekly alerts on Wednesdays, for at least the last six months. We're in Sumter but we've always included the surrounding areas: Marion, Lake, and Sumter. Tornados are so unpredictable that we like as much advance warning as possible. It still amazes me there are people here (some of my relatives) who say they don't want a weather radio because it disturbs their sleep. Personally I'd rather be disturbed by a false alarm any time than by a tornado having seen the damage from the one here on 2/02/07.

No it didn't...and we have signed up at our new address too. Wonder why. There was a tornado watch during the night Friday night in Sumter County.

Hmmm.

I want my money back. ;)

BTK... It all seems to be working. Heard the test last Wed pm and got the same alert mentioned for Lake County on Fri pm. There were no alerts for Sumter with this latest round of storms.

Sorry for the hijack, but where is a good place to buy a weather radio? Is there a fee for the service and if so, how much is it?

Actually I was thinking that we didn't get a telephone call about the watch, maybe only on warnings. Sign up for severe weather warnings and they call you on phone...free.

I'm not familiar with Radio Shack or as some refer to it as "Rat Shack" but Walmarts sells the Midland All Alert Radio for $29.95 and it seems to have everything you'd want in a weather alert radio.
