Saw Dr Hildner at the Savannah Center. His plan sounds good, but have any of you been patients of this medical group? What is your opinion of the doctors/staff regarding the care you have received. Do they currently have an office in TV in addition to Belleview?

Wife and I have been going there for 4 years. No complaints of any kind. We see Dr. Horner and she is competent and thorough and gives you the time you need.
Two doctors in the Villages office, one male one female, which is next to Bells/Lowes on 441.

My wife sees Dr Horner and I see Dr Pead. Very friendly and professional physicians who spend time with us rather than our prior physicians who didn't even have time to sit down to review our files when we went there. So far so good.

I see Dr. Catherine Horner and my husband sees Dr. Pead. Very thorough exams and quick responses on tests. Very pleased with care we've been getting since 9/10.

I've used Dr. James Steed from the Belleview office for over a year... very caring and thorough doctor. After trying several Villages doctors, I found it was worth the 20 minute ride to Belleview.

Thank You for your responses. The doctor wants to see us first in Bellview. We live south of 466A in Sanibel. Can anyone tell me the best way to go?

I saw him too and I like his enthusiasm. But here's one of my concerns: All of the doctors in his group (I believe he said he has 8 doctors working for him?) are family doctors (general phsicians). As far as I recall, he never mentioned any of them having any special training in geriatrics. Older people are not the same as those who are younger.
Family Practitioner: general physicians who treat patients of all ages and conditions, usually in a clinic.
Geriatrician: doctors who specialize in the treatment of diseases and health problems of older people (old-age related problems).
Where would you take a child? You would most likely take a child to a pediatrician, not a GP. So where should you go if you're an older person? You should go to a Geriatrician, in my opinion. After all, this is a retirement community and we are not the same as younger people.
He did stress the point of The Villages Health Centers being "patient centered". If that's truly the case, shouldn't they at least be able to say that they have some formal training in Geriatrics?

To avoid the stop-and-go traffic on Hwy 441/27, you can take 466a to Wildwood and turn right on Hwy 301. 301 goes directly to Belleview.
