Does a taxi run in TV? What are the rates? It appears that some folks take the chance of driving cart or car after too many drinks. Anybody ever take a taxi to and from a Square event or party?

Nice try. OP question? Do you need to tie drinking to asking if The Villages has a taxi. Yes we have a taxi service - subject answered.

Too bad my question ruffled your feathers. I think there are times when a taxi would be a wiser choice for folks having drinks. Hmmmmmm, the recent young person that killed his passenger, and perhaps that Doctor recently charged with DUI. Thanks for the answer.

On Cinco de Mayo you can call the AAA help number for a free taxi. You do not need to be a member.

Nothing....NOTHING is ever 100%. A minority report only exemplifies the minority and ignores the majority that are doing what is right.

This is not criticism it just is apparent that seems to be the favorite way of reporting almost anything these days.
The majority always seem to be relegated to a back page....somewhere!

My feathers are not ruffled at all. YOU asked is there a taxi service in The Villages - YES there is. If you want to have a discussion about drinking and driving then don't disquise it as something else or for that matter tie it to The Villages. I for one frown on drinking and driving but a taxi is only one alternative.

No answers about taxi rates yet. Guess not many folks take the safer option of a taxi. Nothing disguised here. Here bully bully.

We spent a night at S.S. last summer. Stayed until the band stopped playing and then some and when we went to get in the car and go home the battery was dead. Didn't want to call any freinds at the ungodly hour of 10:00 pm, so we called the Village Taxi. It cost us $20.00 to go from S.S. to Bonnybrook, about a ten minute ride. We thought that the price was a little steep, but for those that drink too much it's cheap compared to a DUI ticket.

Per the following thread, it seems as though The Village Taxi is kaput as of the end of last month:

Bill :)Bill, there seems to be confusion because there are or were two different Village Taxi's for a total of three that I know of. I just contacted one that was advertising in the Sun on May 1st to see if I could get an estimate on the fare from our home to Ocala for later in this coming week. Here by phone number is what I experienced:

241-2000 - They told me that they only operate within the Villages and to and from the Airport and they are as quoted in their ad: "We're here TODAY! We're here to STAY!"

753-1415 - This number was give to me from the guy at the first number. I called them and they work in or around the Villages only and do so on a reservation basis only.

753-5000 or 259-1682 - This number was given to me by the 1415 number. They're called KJ Taxi Service in Lady Lake. I called them and they will service anywhere within reason. They're fee is $2.50 per mile and $250.00 if over 20 miles. That's right.... $250. No typo... see my signature below! :p

Exactly.....or designated driver.

We did see taxi cabs when we were there.
I believe they would be listed under THE VILLAGES "transportation".

Reading about the above accident was unsettling as we stayed fairly close to those polo grounds and drove on that road all the time.....once crossing it with a baby stroller. I noticed the "speeders". Come to think of it, I thought I read in the local paper, while there, that they were going to lower the speed limit?????????? Good idea.

This is for another topic but , does anyone know about the "drummers" who meet by the Legacy Country Club (in the vicinity of where that tragic accident was)........there had been a newspaper posting that they were all to meet and drum under the full moon..........but it rained pretty heavy and we didn't hear anything at all. Just wondering who in TV does that?

this is an independent company and not the same as the original Village Taxi service.

This would be a good opportunity for someone wanting to start a business/service. In some part of California (can't remember where..:() a company will drive their motor driven bike to meet you, put the bike into the back of your car (or golf cart?) then drive you home in your own vehicle. This way it is in the driveway when you get up in the morning. I thought it was a great opportunity for someone to make a few bucks while making the roads safer.
