Did you epoxy, paint, etch or do something with your garage floor? Are you happy with it? Has it held up or is it peeling? Would you recommend the people that did it?

Epoxy, love it. Looks like new. Slippery when wet.

Used Sherwin williams epoxy. Seems to hold up real well (done last july 4th). I hihly recommend me, but I'm not available. Tedious process, but not an impossible DIY.

Epoxy done by Ram Custom Design. Excellent job (prep work is very important and they did a great job). Easy to keep clean, very hard to chip even when you drop something heavy. We love it!

Amy Newsome did a great job. It is a stain, but not sealed on the garage floor.

Did mine own but preparation is the key. Concrete must be prepared well with an acid cleaner for best results IMHO. I would ask about the preparation process with each contractor. Yes, it does get slippery when wet so be careful not to fall. Flakes and other abrasives help but unless you do something extra ordinary be very careful.

Try a commercial grade outdoor carpet. Works great and cheaper than other methods.

It's a garage floor. I never entertain in the garage, just work on stuff, change my oil, fix things, build things, etc. I'd rather spend that money on parts of the house that we'd enjoy more than a garage. Just how I feel.

We had our driverway done in 2008 and it is peeling. We think we'd be better off with pavers. But, your garage flooring by Costless sounds promising?

The work on our driveway and gargage done in 2008 by Total Textures, Inc. is peeling and fading. They did our lanai too. We are happy with that. It is just painted. But, we did put sliders out there.

We had carpet removed in house and replaced with laminate. My hubby removed the carpet the night before laminate installers came and we now have wall to wall in our garage!! Love it.

Do you want your garage floor to look good or be dangerous to walk across? If you seal the floor it will be slick. I agree with another post who said its a garage! Driveways that are painted and the Florida sun don't get along. Personally, I wouldn't paint or seal a driveway----although they look good for a while!

Because we have a CYV with the laundry out there, I decided to tile the garage. I have some experience with tiling and this job actually was easier than I thought it might be. I shopped around and got a very good deal on porcelain, non-slip tile. I think porcelain is essential to prevent heavy vehicle damage. We are very pleased with the results. So easy to keep clean, so permanent, so classy looking!

That is gorgeous, very nice job, did you build the cabinets also?

Question, with the weight of a car have any tiles cracked?

Woody at Superior Concrete did ours with epoxy. We're very, very happy with the results. Floor cleans up with little or no effort. Highly recommend his work. 352-454-4002

Here's another vote for Woody.....Great job, no skid, thrilled with finished product and his overall work doing the lanai and driveway and walkway also.

We went with Woody for the garage floor because his treatment is all two-part epoxy (not acrylic base or acrylic clear over epoxy base). He does two color epoxy coats, followed by the clear epoxy coat. I am going to have a model plane workshop out there, and I wanted a coating that would stand up to occasional paint, solvent or glue spills.

now after several months of use, would you still recommend Woody? We just built a new home and will be down mid October for only 10 days and trying to line up a contractor to do our garage at the very least. Thank you, Linda

Sorry, I am just getting used to TOV. We have a new home in Sanibel and I am looking for a contractor to do our garage floor in epoxy. Have seen several good recommendations for Woody from Superior Concrete Designs. Now that you are several months in would you still recommend his work?

Thank you, Linda Pierleoni

Woody did our garage floor in 2010, and while we're very happy with the finished floor don't believe that the floor is impervious to just about everything. For one, we spilled Simple Green and it messed up the epoxy clear coat. So I would also expect that solvents or glue spills might react similarly with the epoxy. You also have to be extremely careful filling the batteries of an electric golf car because any acid overflow will also destroy the epoxy. Otherwise the epoxy finish is as smooth as glass and very easy to wipe clean. If you do go with the epoxy, try to avoid direct sunlight while the floor is drying. It caused our clear coat to bubble, which Woody then had to do over.

We used Tim Miller. Tim the tool Man. He did a good job plus he put in our attic stairs too. His # is 352-217-0516. I like the epoxy coating he applied to our garage floor about 3 months ago. First he sealed the floor, then we waited a day, next he applied the chip flake color in beige which came out really nice in a medium sprinkle. If you find a scuff mark, you just wipe it clean.

Would like to know what type of tile you used and if there tire marks or loose
tiles. Also what was the preparation you did? It does look good.

He did the floor of our 3 car garage and our attic stairs. Floor is easy to clean and is not slippery. Highly recommend him.

Hot Florida sun that hits your driveway will fade your stain over time even if you seal it every year. At least that was my experience. Garage floor is under roof and so is the lanai so stain will probably last longer than most of us will live and looks nice. Pavers will also have to be sealed every year to hold up. My personal thoughts----its a driveway and its a garage floor. We do "kind of sort of" live at times on our lanai.

Tim Miller did our garage last year with epoxy. We love the look and have not had any problems at all. We use the garage for setting up tables with food/drinks during driveway parties.

8 months later and my garage floor has held up beautifully! It's a snap to clean any spills, including. Yes, I would recommend Woody again...and again.

Yes, still happy Linda. But, I have to admit that we have not been here full time, about one week per month. Will be full time starting next month. I still like the shiny surface. It is very easy to sweep out the dirt and grass clippings that are tracked in. We have not had any spills that would put it to the test. I have not seen any tire marks left behind. It has not been slippery with wet shoes.

I have noticed that drips from a wet car will take a while to evaporate, and sometimes leave a dull film. A few swishes with a wet rag will remove the film, if you are as fussy as me. However, this leads me to think that, if I ever do have damaged areas, they will be more obvious on a shiny surface that satin finish.

Most people have been happy with the product used by Tim The Tool Man. It is a two-part epoxy base (one coat) with a satin clear acrylic (water-based?) top coat. It is also available on-line for DIY application. I would think that it is suitable for the average homeowner.

One final comment, Woody's process took four days, and had to be left for another 5 days before putting vehicles on it. I don't know how busy he is, but it would be tough to get this done on a short trip.
