Did ya all see the Super Moon last night?? (hey sky,,,, no funny comments. http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/brodkavelarg.gif (http://www.millan.net)) It would be interesting to hear comments from around the country of what it looked like in your city.
I was rather disappointed of how it looked in TV. I thought it would be brighter and be more colorful (don't ask me why I thought that,,, maybe the romantic side of me.) It was nice, but not what I expected.

It had a little orange tinge when it was on the horizon and even appeared even bigger at that point. After that it was more of a "So what" kind of moment. Just another moon when it got futher up, but brighter.

Same here in Il. It's always good to see a nice moon, but not what I thought it would be either.

I was expecting a "Cosmo's moon."

I thought it was breathtaking, especially when it first rose. It looked huge when it was on the horizon. Of course, running into a bunch of real nice folks from Buttonwood who offered to share their wine with us might have also made it seem special.

As usual, all the hype beforehand led to a disappointment here in Atlanta. To me it didn't appear to be any bigger or brighter than any other full moon. ~ shrug ~

Just spoke to our daughter in CT and she said it wasn't anything extraordinary.

I'm in Ohio and I thought it was spectacular around 9:30 as it rose. It was much brighter than normal and you could definitely tell it was larger, although not as large as I expected. I was happy I was able to see it. Mark another special experience off my bucket list. Around 11:30 I went outside and it didn't seem to be special.

OK! No problem! My head is allergic to rolling pins! http://www.mersenneforum.org/images/smilies/extra/ouch1.gif
BTW, I can't give a legit impression of the SM since I didn't see it. I have a number of years ago see a super duper super moon. It was unbelievable! I could have sworn that the earth and moon were... aah... (dang, can't finish that description without getting funny)

I'm LMAO without even hearing the end of the story.... you're a riot.
But its amazing, the news programs showing scenes from all around where it was beautiful and I was so disappointed. Seems when it was rising or setting were the better views.

Back when I had Bartolomew we would take walks at night - both here and in NJ. All full moons are beautiful. The only difference between a regular full moon and a super full moon is that it is closer to earth. From the naked eye, there is not that big of a difference.

Ditto it was a bit foggy up here.....the actual super moon was NOT what it had been hyped to be.....due to weather conditions.......
It was Moon in Scorpio opposite Sun in Taurus.........
Moon in Scorpio is a very intuitive psychic placement.....

In Indiana the moon was very bright but did not appear that much more spectacular than other moons. I did not see it as it hit the horizon.

Along the Alabama Gulf Coast at 3AM on a very clear night it was very big and very bright. It seemed as if there were several streetlights on in my back yard it was so bright. And a very white bright light at that and looked much closer than usual. I wish I had taken a picture since Kathie is not usually up that late!

Seriously, I saw these pictures posted on Facebook of last nights super moon. I'm not sure of the exact location, but I believe the first was taken from VT. and the second from MA around the Berkshires. You'll notice that the poster of the second photo obviously did a little Photoshopping to add the dog (Daisy) in the moon! His site is presented as if it were the dogs and many pics include it's image as shown on the moon. Here is what he stated when posting the picture:
"I don't know!.... There's something strange about that Super Moon picture that Joan Reynolds posted. I know my eye sight is getting worse but I feel like I've seen this moon before. It feels like it's looking back at me! :) ♥"

maybe i am the only person alive who had not heard about the super moon so when i was leaving cinco de mayo festivities at about 8:20, i was really flabbergasted by the moon, even stopped my car to view it over the mallory golf course between the beautiful palm trees from morse blvd....it certainly did not look like any other moon i had ever seen...lovely....later it was not as good!

I remember a recent "biggest moon in the history of moons," and looked so forward to seeing it last night. But alas, I was in Norfolk, VA visiting relatives and it was overcast.

Tpop1,
What a great picture!! Here in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, the moon appeared very bright, brighter than the usual full moon, and a little bit larger! :-)

Tonight the moon was much prettier (in my opinion). It was a little lower in the sky and was a beautiful shade of yellow gold. It also looked closer to earth tonight than it did last night. Wish I knew how to paste photos on here.
Tpop,,, excellent photo of last night's moon.
