Couldn't believe my eyes this morning when I saw that announcement in the paper. Does anyone have any info on this, i.e., is she staying in practice locally? Opening her own practice? Joining another doctor?

Just so sad to think of losing her as our primary.

Rumor is...Her husband is being deployed to Afghanistan as the leader of a medical team. She is going to Monroe hospital to work where she can be near her 2 small children.

Elevatorman, your source is a good one. Having had a conversation with Rivers Family Medicine earlier today, the information matches, with the exception that they claim she'll be a hospitalist at West Marion.

Dancer, in Sunday's paper the announcement was on page C-6 and also in the paper today on page C-6.

She is going to work at a hospital as it will be better hours as her husband is going to Afganistan

Just got a call from a friend saying that it was in the newspaper that Dr Santizo was also leaving (a friend of hers told her this) Anyone have more on this? Perhaps just another TV rumor....

It is true that Dr. Santizo is also leaving. I was told this first-hand when I tried to make an appointment with him. The plan is to bring in another doctor (or two). Meanwhile, if you were a patient of Dr. Walker or Dr. Santizo, they are allowing you to book with Dr. Rivers. Sadly, for those on Dr. Rivers' 3+ year waiting list, I think it's going to get longer.

Wow just read that dr santizo is also leaving. Where is he going? What if you already have an appointment with santizo do you have to reschedule with dr rivers? We really liked this doctor now to start the search all over. Help me!

Dr. Walker was my primary doc. The office called and asked if I wanted to reschedule with Dr. Sanitizo. When I asked they said Dr Walker is leaving and going to be a hospitalist. Then they called and said Dr. Santizo is also leaving and did I want to see a P.A. or Dr. Rivers. I am curious why Dr. Santizo is suddenly leaving on such short notice. Anyone? I really like their office and have had good care there.

Dr. Santizo is my husband's primary doctor. He likes him a lot. He just had his physical and Dr. Santizo indicated he is taking a job closer to his home in the Altamonte Springs area.

She's going to practice at a hospital in Ocala. Wants to be closer to her kids as her husband is being deployed to Afghanistan.

Yes, it is awful to lose her. It's very difficult to find a caring and knowledgeable PCP here in The Villages who isn't also money hungry.
