I am wondering about Dr. Penrod at Modern Dentistry on Colony Blvd.,too. I haven't seen anything good or bad about him. Has anyone gone to Dr. Penrod?

Dr Penrod repaired a chipped tooth for me with a bonded (tooth colored) filling. I found him to be knowledgable, medically conservative and very resonable. The office seems to be state of the art with digital X-rays and very comfortable.

I had previously gone to another dentist who had recommended removing the tooth and replacing it with an implant at a cost of $2500. When I questioned him about alternatives he replied, "there are none." I left his office quickly!

I would recommend Dr Penrod.

I have gone to that office twice now for x-rays, a night guard and two cleanings.
I was assigned not to Dr. Penrod, but to a second dentist (who has just left)

Almost a year and 1/2 later I found that the office has not yet billed my insurance company. Assuming there must have been an oversight, I asked if someone would please submit my claim. (now up to $500 )

They told me that they do not have a fax machine (in a state of the art dental office!) and submit all insurance claims by mail.

Although there was no notation on my records, they said the claim was probably filed, (probably?) but TO BE HELPFUL, they would gladly fill out a form for me, with the coding numbers I would need for submission, so that I could mail or fax it in myself.

I asked them to do that and they said they would call me to come and pick it up within a day or so. That was two weeks ago, with two follow-up calls on my part. Still don't have it so I will probably make another visit and camp out until they hand it to me.

There may be strange circumstances going on between Dr. Penrod and the other dentist, I don't know.

I have now been assigned to Dr. Penrod, but am not sure that I will continue to go there.

I will say, they are NOT hassling me to pay the bill myself. (at this point)
Just odd.

Billing problems too.

It took me one year to get the office to bill and straighten out a cleaning for my husband. They apparently don't know how to bill Delta Dental and I had to go down to the office with all of my explanation of benefits, which they claim to have lost. Gee, why did I bother. I made constant phone calls to Delta and to the office. Also in order to speak to the billing girl I had to call different offices as they have three places of business. I didn't let go of this matter as I had received a bill with finance charges for a cleaning which is covered at 100%. My insurance also paid them for an x-ray that we paid for out of pocket on the first visit and they would not reimburse us until the entire balance was down to zero. This made no sense to me as we should have been reimbursed when they received a payment from Delta for something that we had paid.

All there was on the invoice was cleanings which were covered at 100% but the billing was so slow. Finally they claimed they sent out a check for that x-ray that was paid by Delta and us which I never received so after numerous phone calls they issued out another check.
That was so much work for covered services that we switched over to Dr. Luong. They understand our Delta Premium Insurance and they are so nice there.
Now, if only I could find a neurologist.

I am so sorry I didn't research this Dental Practice via this site first. Colony Modern seems questionable with their financial and office practices. I thought it was just me until I read some old postings on this site today.

I paid $900 cash for a crown in Aug and MetLife, my insurance company, paid Colony Modern directly instead of me (in error). I have even provided Colony Modern the check number from Met Life. I have had issues with claims needing to be filed more than once (?) and numerous unreturned phone calls. I could go on and on.

With so much competition why would anyone do business with a company that has a history (not just one complaint) to problems.

The work was great but they still have my money.

I have been going to Dr. Rob at Colony Modern Dentistry for a while. I had to have a crown put in. The staff was wonderful, the Dr. was wonderful, I felt no pain (which I usually do) and the price is reasonable! I have no problem recommending Dr. Rob Penrod and Colony Modern Dentistry.

I wish I had also checked this site! I have been waiting three months for reimbursement for services I paid out of pocket. MetLife sent a check directly to the dentist end of December which colony modern dentistry said they never received. I have repeatedly requested they contact MetLife to have another check issued. I was now told they finally called MetLife today and requested another check. No explanation why it's taken so long to make this call!
The computer system in their office was down the day my husband arrived for his first visit only to be told he could not be seen (a phone call would have been nice) and that they would call him as soon as the computers were back up. That was two weeks ago....still no call.

Sorry to hear about the problems people had with billing. Guess I should be happy I don't have dental insurance. I was able to get a discount from him for work that he did since I was paying for it myself. His staff have always been nice and polite and cheerful as well.

He did several cleanings for me and when I got the courage to finally remove a bad tooth he fitted me with a great crown over my dental implant. He adjusted my old night guard, that he did make, so I wouldn't have to get a new one.

His prices were very fair and his work was just excellent.

If you need an Oral Surgeon the best is Barton Blumberg on Buenos Aires. His staff also treats you like family not another customer.
