Does it seem a bit .......what is the word......when someone is looking for a closet to be built, after drawing a design, you won't let them have a copy to think about?

Hi,
I declined the wire closets from TV and would like to get all laminate shelving. Had two designers work on the master to make it most useful. One wouldn't give me the drawing of the layout. I can't remember it so I guess I will have to go by the showroom and ask to see it on the computer again. Makes it more work than it should be. Not very customer friendly.

They are afraid you will take the sketch and shop it with others. We used Busby's Closets and were happy with the result, he came and measured and gave us a hand drawn sketch of each closet with a price for each closet, he was easy to work and gave us a fair price.

I understand the point. But you can't expect people to make a decision and not remember what they are making a decision on. We wanted something a little more for the master.

If a company comes to your home, studies your situation and spends time putting your ideas into a plan, without an upfront fee for that work, how it the world do you think it belongs to you?

The mistake this company made was not to charge you a fee, maybe one which would be refundable if you hired them to complete the work, but at least something to recognize their time and expertise.

The designs are all pretty similar. I imagine the value is in the process and outcome.

We used Custom Home Closets and Tammy sends you a computer image of your closet layout by email so you can refer to it any time you want. She's great to work with! After she installed our closets we ordered an office system for my husband and heavy duty cabinets for the garage for storage. We are very happy with the closets.

Sweetie took out the shelves and put in many more in all three bedroom closets and added shelving all around the garage. I am so proud of his work.

I have to agree...We used Busby's and both my wife and I were very pleased--excellent work at a very reasonable price.

We had some landscaping done in Pa and the plans were drawn up by the nursery,then for $35 we could buythe plans which would be deducted when the work was done.

I think this procedure would work for the closet plans in the same way. Then if you decide not to go with them, they would have money for their time.
