Have you ever misplaced something? And then laughed when you eventually found it!
Here is Kathy's latest 'event.' She lost her milk bottle... didn't realize it was lost until she was unloading the clean dishes from the dishwasher and...lo and behold...the 1/2 full milk bottle was in the overhead cabinet next to the clean glasses. It had been there -- she figures -- for 24 hours! She was at first stunned to see the milk bottle in the wrong place, but then did a belly laugh over her finding!
I told her it reminded me of when I 'lost' my cell phone...but found it the next day in my socks drawer. That one drove me nuts; finally found it when I called my cell phone from a land line, and the faint cell ring guided me to the bedroom. I could have kissed my cell phone when I eventually found it.
Is this a sign of aging? Or just stupidity!!
What's your 'lost-and-found' story?

GeneIt's neither stupidity nor a sign of aging. It's simply being... well... human!
I was about 21 when my wife and I were living in a mobile home. To visualize, the front of the trailer was the kitchen, next a step down into the living room then the hallway on the right heading back to the bedrooms and bathroom.
I was looking for something in the living room (don't remember what it was) and when I couldn't find it, I stepped up to the kitchen area and from the edge of the step visually scanned the living room believing it was in the open somewhere. After what seemed about 5 minutes I spotted the item. Guess where it was? It was smack dab in the middle of the floor, and not a single thing anywhere near it. Believe it or not, I did have 20/30 vision back then!
I'm baffled to this day as to how I could have missed that object right there in front of me - in the open no less!

Went to lunch with some co-workers and ate only half of my large meal. Waitress asked if I wanted to take the leftovers and I said no because I'd never remember to take them home from the office anyway. My secretary said, just put my car keys on top of the leftovers in the break room refrigerator; then I couldn't forget to take the leftovers home.
Worked really late that night. Finally ready to go home and could not find my keys anywhere. Finally had to call my hubby to come pick me up-- about a 30 mile commute. Just about the time he arrived, I remembered where my keys were. Laughed the whole way home. DH just shook his head. :ohdear:
... I've told the story here before, but hey, you asked. Besides, I'm hoping to win the Swimdawg Lost and Found Story of the Day. :what:

I take my pooch to the dog park almost every day and have a set of designated shoes for the chore.
Yesterday, I went to the dog park and came back home. I take off the designated dog park shoes upon arrival. They sometimes have dog poop on them so I do not take them into the house but leave them in the garage unless they are relatively clean.
These shoes were clean yesterday so I took them in the house along with what I though was the dog's harness and leash, my car keys, the garage door opener, glasses and glass case, my wallet, etc.
I just take all these into the house when geting home.
Six hours later I was ready to go to the postal center with my pooch but could not find the garage door opener anywhere. I go to the postal center anyway but leave the garage door open.
I searched all thorough the house, under the car, in the car, under the car seat, in the basket where the dog's leash and harness are, in my dresser drawer, under the bed, etc.
I gave up thinking that the garage door opener had gone missing.
I have a restless night wondering what I did with that garage door opener??? Maybe, I dropped it somewhere like at the dog park? I did not use it yesterday because the garage door was already open while a family member cleaned up the garage.
I get ready to go to the dog park today, bend down to pick up my dog park designated shoes but cannot get my foot into the right shoe. Why? Because the garage door opener is in the bottom of the shoe.

Have you ever gone looking for your glasses...only to suddenly realize you're already wearing them! Guilty once (ok, maybe twice).

My husband bought a brand-new smart phone in November. In January, he lost it. Decided it could only have fallen out of his coat pocket in the grocery store parking lot. Nobody turned it in. Of course it wasn't insured, so he bought a used one and put insurance on it. He is notorious for misplacing things, but they are seldom out-and-out lost. It just takes time for things to show up.
Next week we are going out of the country for three weeks. This week my husband lost his wallet. Same thing, looked every-darn-where. Then we decided we couldn't wait any longer and had to call and cancel Visa, Amex, and ATM card and get new ones so they would get here in before we leave:cry:.
Oh, and as he was digging through the couch looking for his wallet, he found his brand-new smart phone.https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/images/smilies/cry.gif
