How are the furniture stores in TV? Are there any other good stores outside of TV? Any help is appreciated. So many great answers here. Thanks!!

For our money, we thought the best value was at Southern Lifestyles in Sumter Landing. The furniture was of good quality and the prices were fair.

Or here;

Items For Sale in The Villages, Florida - Talk of The Villages (https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/items-sale-villages-florida-83/)

If you are looking for a bargain you might search the classified area of TOTV or go to some of the consignment shops in the area. I, personally, though the furniture was very nice when we checked them out.

Good luck and remember to use the "search" area of TOTV. It is a great asset.

We weren't charged for delivery at Showcase direct...and they give a 5% discount to Village residents.

Sorry what i was trying to say is don't bother driving to Orlando to Ashley due to the fact that showcase and southern both carry same product and the price is the same

our experience 2 yrs ago:
babette's lured us to their store with an offer of 15% discount - then charged us a 10% delivery fee to the villages!

showcase direct had many of the same manufacturers as stores between ocala and leesburg; uses secret shoppers to scope out the prices charged by the competition; will meet any price offered by the competition; and great delivery people and care for furniture delivered!

kent furniture Home - KENT FURNITURE INC (http://www.kentfurnitureinc.com/) delivered our bed next day so we had it to sleep on the nite we closed on the house! then went back and bought living room furniture that we could not find elsewhere! great to deal with and they remembered us whenever we went back there!

we hit each of the pre-owned furniture stores but never found a style we cared for nor a sufficient amount of furniture to give us a somewhat coordinated effect that we wanted. have found that it is okay for an occasional piece or two. we love bargains and treasures for price but neerlynew for quailty. we have just gotten around to exploring the wildwood area and will check out the pre-owned furinture stores there when we get back.

btw - if ya head over to wildwood, don't forget to check out the russell stover candy outlet! rt 44 - go across rt 301 - and go straight to the store where you make a left into their parking area! no pre-owned stuff there! ;)

I used Babcock on 441/27 in Fruitland Park. Very nice young man (too long ago to remember his name), but they delivered a dining room table and chairs the next day in order for me to have Thanksgiving dinner at my house. He even threw in 2 more chairs free, and you know how expensive the chairs are. I also liked a console piece for the dining room but wasn't sure how it would look and he sent it along with the dining set and said he would take it back if I didn't like it. PS.... I loved it and still do.

I also ordered my bed with headboard and all the mattresses from them and he even sent over workmen the following day to add more slats for me.

Can't say enough about their customer service and salesmanship. Everything was perfect and still is 4 years later.

We purchased our outdoor furniture from Showcase Direct and love the furniture. However, stay away from sales person Nathan....he is very nice but he does not know anything about what he was selling and the experience was painful. He would go into the back room to get on a computer to look up many of the answers to our questions and sometimes it took him 15 minutes or more. We were left waiting on multiple occasions. What should have taken us less than an hour took us two plus and we ended up doing some research on the computer to answer our own questions that he should have known the answer to.

Hey Happi,

Actually we did get Nathan.
Friendly, helpful and knew his stuff. He would leave and make a copy of what we wanted and yes it took a while.
We did get a queen sofa sleeper and L shaped desk for our office from him.
Did take longer than we had thought it would.

Flash forward. We stopped in at the LSL location. Same thing; different guy so I think thats just how it works at these stores.
Guy in LSL printed out info and it came out reversed or "mirrored" and you'd have to hold it up to a mirror to read it so off he went to make another.

Our experience at Showcase Direct was awesome! We bought a whole house worth of furniture the same week we met with the TV design team to design our house. They have the layout of every house model (at least new models) printed to scale, along with cutouts of the furniture so you can place each piece on the layout and know exactly how it will fit. I'm told Southern Lifestyles does the same.

They will deliver and set up everything the day before the closing, so everything will already be in the house when we arrive. They'll place it where you planned it on the printout.

The sales rep also worked out a deal with Broyhill to give us an extra 10% off. We knew they have a sale every couple of months and we had time to wait to place the order. The SD rep called the Broyhill rep, explained we were going to wait and they gave us the 10% then. That and the 5% you get for being in TV and it was a nice 15% savings!

Can't say enough about the whole experience.

Another vote for Southern Lifestyles and Showcase Direct (sister stores) right here in TV. They have good prices at every level, from "economical" up thru super-luxurious.

There's a lot to be said about the convenience of buying right here and having it delivered for free the next day, if in stock...and much of it is in stock.

Our vote is for Southern Lifestyles in Sumter Landing. Our salesperson is Tina, a very professional young lady, and so patient. We did not know exactly what we wanted, but she walked us through the many styles until we made a decision.
We purchased a bedroom set and some other stuff. The setup crew was clean, polite, and professional. Being from the north, it felt funny when they said: yes mame....but it sure is nice to see such manners.

Southern Lifestyles is the place for new furniture, and accessories. Hope you will visit and ask for Tina. (no we are not relatives, hahaha)

When we bought our first home in TV (on a whim, with no lifestyle preview, in fact not even with a trolley tour!), we felt we needed basics for our own comfort immediately. We went to the Rooms to Go Clearance WAREHOUSE (not one of their small clearance stores) in Seffner FL which is ENORMOUS with an equally ENORMOUS selection! One of us picked out a bed (partial bedroom set), the other the dining table and chairs, and we let the dog in his service vest pick “his” sofa (he’s partial to microfiber). They are negotiable, particularly when buying several items, and yes there is a delivery charge (Seffner is near Tampa!) but it is reasonable and negotiable as well. This way we were able to move in and start off having places to sit, eat, and sleep.

The rest of the furnishing evolved. Everything else came from house sales, garage sales, estate sales, craigslist, local community websites, ads in various papers, thrift shops, consignment shops, conventional store sale items, you name it…. One of the benefits of buying a resale home was that the previous owners left things behind, some of which we liked and incorporated. (Hey, even the bond had been paid!) Final touches (as if it’s ever final…) are personal and family pieces, travel memorabilia, and the like. Do we look like Southern Lifestyles? For sure not! But are we comfortable? Yes! And do we love the end result (as if we’re really ever finished…)? You bet! (Excuse me, “you betcha!!!”)

Please note...this thread is almost a year old, so, anyone selling current items will probably not interest the OP.

The topic is shopping for furniture in general not seeking individual items.

Back to the topic at hand....

I agree with Ilovetv again.

but would throw in Babbettes in Leesburg.

And...for the first time in our lives we used a furniture resale place, Bargains and Treasures to help furnish our snowbird house. They pick up many truckfuls of beautiful furniture every day and it goes out the door quickly. They will only take things not worn looking and sell it on consignment it for the people who decided they wanted something different when they got here. They sold several pieces for us too. Look at them too if you are trying to sell something. They are honest and nice.

We brought our stuff from the north for this new house. It still has an Ohio accent but is settling in nicely.

I loved the White Broyhill they sell at Showcase Direct for our Hadley house. It was good quality and so tropical looking if you are looking to change to white furniture..

If you want to shop back home, get the model number and of course manufacturer and many times Showcase Direct or Southern Lifestyles can order it for you.
