Congressman Richard Nugent wrote me about a letter about criminals stealing social security numbers and filling fraudulent tax returns. Some of these are done in mass.
He also says that it is illegal immigrants who claim dependents on their tax returns and who receive refunds.
Congressman Richard Nugent is co-sponsoring a bill that would require a valid SS number for anyone to claim the Additional Child Tax Credit.
He is also working on trying to get co-operation between Federal and local LEOs with respect to catching tax defrauders.
Any thoughts on this??
He also wrote that his website is available for tracking progress with the SS number requirement for getting the Additional Child Tax Credit and the matter of tax defrauders. http://nugent.house.gov/

While researching that, also research the scam being done with the Violence to Women act and one of the reasons it was not wanted by the Republicans. A BIG SCAM and we will continue to be used.

What good is it to have a law requiring a valid Social Security number to claim this tax credit, when E-Verify has been available for years, and the leftists have fought against requiring E-Verify for being hired into a job.
Not even Social Sec. Administration checks numbers to see if its own new hires have "valid" SS numbers or if they're here legally!
"Social Security Administration failed to perform required verifications of the Social Security numbers of 19 percent of its own new hires during a 18-month period, according to a January 2010 report from the agency’s inspector general."

There are so many scams that are PROTECTED by one party, it is a shame.
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN....all were told that the Republicans were opposed to it because they just dont like women.
Facts are it had to do with paying for it, legality on indian reservations (both the Dems dont care about) and finally in that law IF AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT (WOMAN) REPORTED SPOUSAL ABUSE THEY WERE AND ARE GIVEN A U-VISA RIGHT AWAY AND THAT IS GOOD FOR 3 YEARS AND THEN THEY CAN UPGRADE. SO, folks get married, make a phoney claim of abuse and the woman is on her way to staying here and collecting all the goodies.
We, on this forum, have already talked about how the illegal immigrants are scamming the IRS for millions of dollars.....
It goes on and on BUT we gotta be "politically correct" and protect them at all costs.

Thursday he is having a meeting at Colony (had to rsvp) to attend in reference to how or where to do budget cuts . I'm going and we all need to get more involved and try to make the politicians more accountable for their actions. No matter who ends up pres. this time around we need to push these folks and dont let up . Not trying to change the subject.

This is just a tad confusing - is Dick saying it is ONLY illegal immigrants who claim dependents on their tax returns and who receive refunds? If so, perhaps we can ask Dick to provide some proof of his allegation?
Criminals are stealing SS number? Well, that's a relief. I would be very worried if honest folk were doing it. Is Dick just waking up to this theft of SS numbers racket now? It's been going on for decades.
He wants to catch tax defrauders? APPLAUSE !!!!!!! Maybe Dick can start with Willard. How many millions has Willard stashed offshore in order to defraud - I mean not pay - tax on.
Finally, is Dick Nugent related to Ted?

So few actually take action for sure. Attendance at events like this are mandatory if you really care.

Check his website on occasion if you want more information about this. Congressman Richard Nugent (http://nugent.house.gov/) I tried to summarize his letter but must not have done a good job if you are confused by what I wrote.
This article describes the identify theft tax fraud problem better--
Exclusive: Identity theft tax fraud on the rise | The News-Press | news-press.com (http://www.news-press.com/article/20120327/NEWS01/303270002/Exclusive-Identity-theft-tax-fraud-rise)
It also looks like Richard Nugent is no relation to Ted Nugent-- Richard Nugent (R-Fla.) - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/richard-nugent-r-fla/gIQAt0HaKP_topic.html)
"Though no relation, in part because of their shared name, rock legend and gun enthusiast Ted Nugent campaigned for Rich Nugent during the 2010 campaign." from Washington Post link above.

I met him once, at a town hall meeting he had here in TV. Given the underhanded way he slipped into the campaign at the last minute with Ginny Brown-Waite's help, I was prepared not to like him.
But I did like him. He seemed honest, straightforward, and fiscally conservative, which I liked. But he seemed badly disappointed with the political stalemate he encountered in Washington. He described a situation wherein, under the dictatorial leadership of the political parties, opposing members of Congress were not only failing to negotiate and compromise, they weren't even talking to one another!
Unfortunately, he's been forced to fall in line by his political "seniors". As such, he tries to get what he can for his constituents, but is little more than one more Republican vote when he's told to register it. As such, as an incumbent, he won't get my vote in November. I doubt that enough people will join me--he is listed as a Republican and will get all those "automatic" votes. But I think we'd be better off with new blood...whomever that might be.

Piggybacking on your mantra of no incumbents....seems to me that saying no incumbents without a caveat will not work. A lot of good people lose an opportunity to do good.
I think the biggest part of the problem with both parties in congress is THE LEADERSHIP of those parties. If there was a way to vote out those leaders we may have a chance, however, that probably would require a nationwide program with very narrow names to insure defeat.
Some of these folks, both Dem and Rep are good people but as you mentioned under the thumb of leadership
