We're pretty new to TV and looking for recommendations on house watch services. We're going to head up north for a couple of months and would like to hear from anyone with positive (or negative) experiences. There are 3 or 4 out there that look like they copied each others services and rates on their web pages. We're most interested in reliability and communications.
Thanks for your help.

We used Safe Home Watch (https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/home-watch-security-242/safe-home-watch-look-what-you-get-thirty-five-bucks-20753/) (A TOTV Advertisor) prior to our permanent move to TV. If we are away for an extended period in the future, we would hire them again in a heartbeat!

We've known of friends who had CNN Home Watch who've been so pleased. CNN goes out of their way to do extra care and their list of items they cover every month is pretty impressive. Cost is good at $35 a month. Call Cindy at 352 753 3271 in the Villages if you're interested.

I would only recommend that whatever home watch you choose make sure they are liceansed and bonded...This will narrow your search...

We have Ed & Mary Edwards @ Safe Homewatch. Very SATISFIED with them. My grass was browning out & last week Ed ADDED 1 day of irrigation (due to drought watering schedule I was only watering 1 day)! PLUS they send U WEEKLY e mails on your property. Call them & interview them, there are GREAT & I know THEY BOTH WILL IMPRESS YOU!

You can call them as follows (at least these are the last numbers I have for them)
:
Roger: 352-430-3618
or
Bill: 352-633-3220

They will not pressure you into anything and are nice guys as well as being super efficient.

I have found them to be very professional and dependable. They have provided us with a list of "things to do before you leave The Villages".

The above number is the cell phone number I have for Roger. I usually e-mail him with questions or notification of our departure or arrival. When we depart, they check the house in case we forgot to unplug anything, etc. When we arrive they turn up the fridge temperature and if necessary, let our home cleaners in.

I've know Dee for years. She is a "straight shooter" for sure, and has many happy clients. She can offer good recommendations for dependable people in the trades.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my question and to those who sent the private messages. Your input was very helpful. There's nothing better than getting feedback from others with experience.
Again, Thank You

Just an FYI for those of you using a home watch service...

I have very good friends that operate a home watch service here in TV. I won't mention the name here, as they have all of the clients they feel they can handle effeciently. They have, however, been told by several clients recently that they (the clients) are receiving a deduction on their homeowners insurance with proof of a home watch contract. If you aren't receiving a discount, you might want to check it out.

I believe that is true. We operate The VILLAGE SITTER (The Village Sitter - Welcome (http://www.thevillagesitter.weebly.com)) and have several of our clients ask us for our insurance and bonding paperwork to turn into their insurance companies for a deduction. Check with your insurance companies to see if it applies to your insurance as well.
