This morning I met a European lady who lives in Plantation, Leesburg. Her husband passed away and she is having a difficult time adjusting to being a single.

Is there anything happening in The Villages that a single non-resident could join?

Hi Madelaine. If your friend is looking for grief support, there are two bereavement groups that I can recommend.

Cornerstone Hospice, corner of Morse and 466, is a very good place. They offer both group an individual counseling. cshospice.org 352-742-6898 or 888-728-6234 to make an appointment with a counselor or for information about groups. I lost my husband, Joe, January 31, 2012 and the wonderful people on TOTV recommended Cornerstone Hospice and being in the group has helped me.

St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church has a grief support group that meets every Thursday morning at 9:30. It is open to all who have suffered a loss of a loved one. St. Timothy's is located at: 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, FL 32159, Rooms 1, 2 and 3 • (352) 753-0989 • Fax (352) 753-9602. This group does have social events every month.

I wish your friend the best and I hope she can get to join some activities. I know how lonely it is to be suddenly alone.

Another great support group is GriefShare. I've seen it advertised in the Sun and it's got several available groups. You can go into it at any time w/o having to wait.
