In today's Sun, classified section, there is a legal notice about a fictitious name business call NYPD Pizzeria to be located at 4046 Wedgewood La... This is the strip center in front of Walmart and probably the old Big City grill (?) location. Nothing on the gourmet club website.

Anybody know anything about it?

I doubt it is "fictitious". I think it is the New York Pizza Department(NYPD) . We have eaten the pizza from NYPD in Palm Beach. The pizza is more New York than any of the other Villages pizza places. We are looking forward to their opening.

"A fictitious name is a name under which any person or business shall do or transact any business in this state which is other than the true name of such person or business. A fictitious name is commonly referred to as a "DBA", an acronym for "doing business as." Filing a fictitious name registration does not afford or secure any exclusive rights to the name."

We've been to a couple of NYPD Pizzas in Albuquerque and they were very good.

In Palm Beach Gardens, we have an NYPD - New York Pizza Department. It has been one of the better ones.

Wonder if they are adding a store up here.

(I should have checked for new messages before posting this repetitious one.)

They could have had more at some point. I just visited the website to check this info. I've only been to one in Orlando.

It sounds like we will have a good NY pizza joint, we already have a very good 'conventional pizza place, Toscani's, and now all we need is a good Chicago deep dish pizza. UNO's are you listening?

Not grease, oil comes from better quality ingredients which equals better taste and higher nutrition.

The Gourmet Club has it listed. You may have to refresh the page to see it if your computer uses its cache to generate the page instead of getting a fresh one every time. There's videos there too. Looks very promising, I can't wait.

Being a big fan of NY pizza I found this thread interesting. An online search reveals that there seems to be more than one business calling themselves NYPD Pizza. One lists 10 locations in Arizona. Another lists 5 locations in Florida and one in Little Rock, Arkansas. I guess the state abbreviations could be confusing unless you know where Little Rock is located.

This is an old thread that I came across but felt it was worth resurrecting. I ordered a pizza from NYPD and had it delivered on Saturday. It was EXCEPTIONAL pizza. I ordered the Queens deluxe. It is a thin crust. I know everyone has their favorites....and I think I found mine. Delivery was within 30 minutes and it was all done online at their website. It's not cheap, but worth the extra that you pay at any quality pizza place.

This is are pizza of choice at the moment. I prefer Flippers but NYPD is quite a bit closer to us in Lynnhaven. http://www.flipperspizzeria.com/our-locations/the-villages/

I thought Flippers was the best when they opened but consistency has dropped. I would rank them 2nd for sure but NYPD is definitely #1 IMO.

Sorry to hear that. We have not been to Flippers for a year or so. NYPD is within a short golf cart ride.

I have been to the NYPD Pizza in The Villages and it is very good.

I have also been to a NYPD Pizza just outside Chattanooga, Tennessee. The setup is completely different, not a sit-down and order it is order from the line as you enter and they have numerous pizzas of varying toppings ready-made to order by the slice or you can order whole pies that are about 24" diameter. This place is even better than the one in The Villages.

Are there competing chains with almost the same name or are these all individual one off locations?

It looks like they are competing chains. NYPD Pizza - Locations (http://www.nypdpizzeria.com/locations.html) http://www.indoughwecrust.com/index.html

The Gourmet Club description clearly states that this place is not affiliated with New York Police Department pizza chain. Said it probably stands for New York Pizza Delicatessen, out of Orlando.
