Buying a model?

Has anyone purchased a model home or know someone that has purchased a model?

Just wondering what's involved?

We had purchased a fully furnished model home for our first purchase. Closing was much quicker of course. I would assume similar to buying a pre-owned home. Setting up the documents of the purchase, the estimated cost of the furniture is backed out of the purchase price, then when setting up your mortgage amount, it is put back in which would be a part of the amount you would borrow. Also, backing out the furniture is important because, if you wanted to sell your home and the cost of the furniture was left in, then the furniture has to be sold with the home.

We have, but not here. In Indianapolis. I took a nap on the couch after unpacking all day about the first week after we moved in, I woke up to find people touring our home. I had left the front door unlocked.

Gracie, your post reminded me of a friend of mine that was holding an open house (she's a realtor...and an airhead!). On this particular day, she had cramps, so before the open house she stopped at the drug store to get some pain meds. She found a bottle of Tylenol PMS (which she thought was for pre-menstrual syndrome), took two of them and within about 20 minutes was fast asleep. Needless to say, she didn't sell the house that day!

We bought it through a Villages. No different than buying any house. The price had the furniture in it but at closing, we took it out.
Yes you are right. Best house we have ever lived in and we have lived in 4 others. Very quiet, up graded tray ceilings, Bose sound system in each room, up graded tile, sinks, water system and of course furniture(top of the line), expensive pictures and decorations, window treatments etc.
Other nice feature is each of our neighbors has a model too, so all our houses are different and we all have great golf course views with the golf path far away. Super huge garage.
Our home inspector went around and told us all the upgrades. He said top of the top in everything. A birdcage with privacy sides and spa was also built with the house and they are the best you can get.
A model is so easy to move into !!We could bargain because the original owner had paid the big money and this was a resale.( He has passed.)We are so happy.
