Here's news you righties have been waitng for. A federal appeals court has ruled that denying federal benefits to same-sex couples is unconstitutional. Unfortunately, those benefits will still be denied until the Supreme Court decides. May never get them when it lands in Thomas and Roberts and Scalia hands. :(

What are the Republican leaning SCOTUS Justices opinions on gay marriage??

Seems to me the Supreme Court has its hands full considering their upcoming ruling on ObamaCare. Whichever way they decide, they'll have about half he country PO'd at them. By the summer, the SCOTUS could have popularity ratings down there with Congress, bankers and lawyers.

So I guess if they took on the gay rights issue, they wouldn't get any more unpopular.

I hope the Supreme Court does take the appeal and decides that this is an issue to be left to the states. The courts and Congress have increasingly ignored the 10th Amendment. This country was intended to be made up of sovereign states with international affairs and interstate commerce under the control of a federal government. We need to go back to that model or repeal the 10th amendment. BTW, I am fully in support of equal rights for gay/lesbian civil unions as I have said before on this board.
