We're new to TV, and was surprised to be awakened from a deep sleep this morning by the mowers ringing our doorbell. They were wanting to know if it was okay with us for them to mow our yard now. We found this to be a bit odd. Is this customary?

Never had our lawn company ring our bell to ask if it was ok to mow at a certain time!
Was it exceptionally early?

nope, that's very unusual!
I would rather they just mow! I might not want to answer the door!

Ours just comes and mows no doorbell

They might have been asking your permission so they could blame YOU, in case the neighbors complain they're being awakened too early by your mowers.

We have neighbors in back whose mowing guys are running their blowers and mowers before 8:00 a.m. on weekends. It's really inconsiderate.

Were these the people you hired to do your yard?? If so, that was strange. Our people just come and do their job without asking or ringing the doorbell.

As for the time of day...it isn't unusual for yard folks and such to begin working at 7:00 a.m. in TV. It's just what they do here.

Ceejay...I wouldn't say it was exceptionally early, but early for us. It was before 8 a.m.

Yes NotGolfer, it was the people we had hired to do our yard work.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there were noise restrictions in TV before 8 am and after 10 pm. Does anybody else recall reading that? Maybe I'm thinking of campground restrictions. This place is a bit like summer camp, don'tcha think?

I agree with the noise of landscapers early in the morning being annoying. In NY the landscapers wait until 8:00 . But looking at it from the landscapers side, "It gets hot early in Florida and common sense would be to get an early start while it is cool. But it doesn't make it right. How 'bout the people living on a golf course who have to deal with mowers at 5:00 a.m? The price you pay for a premium lot.

I believe they mow very early on the golf courses. It didn't bother us as we've always been very early risers.
I'm thinking I read 5 a.m.?????

Our lawn guys came at various times in the morning and just went about their work on the home we rented.

The way we felt, someone has to be first and someone has to be last.

Up here, we encourage them to begin before 7 a.m., if they can.....no one really sleeps late; however, everyone does enjoy a peaceful evening.

maybe they were trying to catch up on mowing with all the rain and were being polite asking if before 8:00 am was ok with you to mow.

We get up early. I guess whether you are larks or owls is programmed into you.

If someone rang the doorbell to tell me they are cutting our lawn, I would say Hi, Good Morning, Lawn looks great. Thank you.

Maybe they have heard about some trigger happy folks around here who might want to "Stand their Ground" and don't want anyone startled and doing anything unexpected to them.:icon_wink:

7:03 in the AM seems to be a magic number. Also, 6:15 in the PM works. Nothing like sitting on your lanai with a toddy in one hand and some munchies in the other, and here comes the mow, blow and go guys!!

Living in a new section we had a lot of construction. We were told that there was a 7:00 starting limit but they started at 6:45 AM. I was not amused since I sometimes take night call. Luckily we are finished with construction. :MOJE_whot:

We are new too. We have Stellar and they ring the door bell for everything they plan on doing to your lawn. I got tired of it and complained and had my husband intervene and tell them to just do what they have to do, leave their service invoice in the door jamb and not ring the bell. It is annoying. I think they are just trying to be friendly and responsive to their customers but I just want them to do their job and if I have an issue I will call. We'll see how it works out.

We have Tri County Landscaping and they have rung our bell if it's questionable on whether to mow that week. If the lawn is stressed from drought, or if the Zoysia is dormant and they know we like it a little long they'll ask if we want it mowed that week. In the meantime they trim and weed and are exceptionally professional and courteous. We've had them for 2 years and appreciate them asking us our opinion. It's not bothersome because it doesn't happen often and we consider it great customer service.

Tom, we are on the golf course and haven't heard a mower since I've been here which is almost a month now. I must admit, I was prepared to be woke up early by mowers and to my delight it's not happening!

Thanks for the news about mowing the golf courses! I bought a lot on one recently and had no idea they would perhaps start at 5 AM. Yikes! I feel I rise fairly early 6-6:30 or so, but not sure I want to hear a mower so early. I am on a berm, however, so maybe it won't be so bad? I'll have earplugs just in case! Thanks for the heads up!

We have lived on golf front (Palmer) since Oct. and never once have we heard lawmovers on the golf course. We asked neighbors before we bought and not one of them said they heard the mowers. (Good news for all). I don't even know when they mow!!!

I don't think you have anything to worry about, Hotrodgirl. We've backed on a golf course for 5 years. I sleep with the windows open and I'm a light sleeper, but I've never heard maintenance equipment. Sometimes I'm wandering sleepily around in the middle of the night and I see lights on the golf course. So I guess they mow very, very early. But the equipment is strangely quiet. Another Village miracle.

No . Mine have never but I wish they would. Car in the driveway hit with debris. Company on the Lanai. There timing is never consistent. Now with the rainy season it will be worse I'm sure.

Don't really care what time they start as long as I don't have to cut, edge, weed and blow. I just wish that Sundays were an off day for ALL construction work in TV. I don't think asking for one day off is to much. JMO
