Do any of you use one of the automobile GPS devices like a Nuvi in your Golf Cart to help guide you around TV? If you do what brand/model.

Thanks,

Bill

I have an older Nuvi and it works fine in my cart. It doesn't have some of the newer streets but I mostly use it as a speedometer

In many parts of The Villages a gps could very possibly put you into an illegal or dangerous situation.

That's what I ment. Almost found out the hard way. It wants to put you on the streets. If someone could solve this, they could make a small fortune on 55,000 golf carts.:MOJE_whot:

After you are here awhile it is not so confusing and besides a very good map can be had for five bucks.

I spent about a month putting all the cart trails in Google Maps. If you have a smartphone (iPhone or Android), you can use Google Maps for GPS inthe Villages. When you open Google Maps, just go to the top and turn on "Bicycle" layer. The cart trails will show up as green. You can also use GPS routing, but it is still in beta mode, so be careful.

The photos below are from an iPhone. In one, you will see the blue dot, for current location.

Enjoy....

I have been here for about 3 years now and have the good AAA map of The Villages (free for members) in my golf cart.

I do check the speed of my golf cart now and then with a GPS to ensure it is still topped out at 19.5 mph. Sure do not want a ticket when on the roads for exceeding 20 mph. I understand those tickets are mighty expensive.

No kidding?...Wow!!! As a person who is admittedly Directionally Challenged, this will be a godsend. Does it talk? I can't walk and chew my gum at the same time....so I use voice commands on my car GPS frequently.

Thank you for taking the time to do this. :coolsmiley:

My Garmin doesn't work in the golf cart on the trails, but it gets me where I what to go utilizing the trails. I been able to make it to the golf courses and I have not been late for a tee time. When I use a tunnel or go by land mark that I can use later, I stop and enter in my GPS, name it and save it. Most your trials follow the roads you just have to learn where the tunnels are.
