The President is way out of touch.
Obama says private sector "doing fine" - YouTube
When is the "let them eat cake" comment coming? How can is say that the private sector is doing fine? Covering his tracks most likely on his 2009 statement about fixing the economy in his first term?

he did have a press conference later to as usual clarify what he meant.
He was so unprepared it was not his usual prepared, practiced delivery.
He of course tried the, it ain't me game, also again as usual.
He said he has been saying for a year the economy is in trouble...then said no I have been saying this for a couple of years now....then he said I guess I have been saying this since I took office. Then went into how the partisan politics is to blame for no improvement. He very much alluded to "they" meaning the republicans and or congress are the problem.
It was obvious he is not aware how poorly a speech like that makes him look.
A leader.....even a mediocre leader....would not try to blame or excuse his way out of a failed 3 1/2 year can't get those guys to do something. What an admission....three and a half years and I could not get anything done.....I kept telling them.....I did.
An obvious politician making the same old, same old excuse. In the private sector he would have not made it one year. Talkers with no results wash out very quickly in the private sector.
I think I hear the moving trucks headed for 1600 PA Ave.

Please list all the bills the president can get passed without congress. President Obama proposed three "jobs" bills last October, and we see how far they got. It is very clear that Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Leader McConnell have no intention of doing anything. They would rather see their constituents out of work, than pass any bill that might make the president look good. They should be tried for treason.
BTW: Speaker Boehner lead the house off to another recess next week. Their ninth recess in 2012. What other job can you have that pays $174,000 a year and gives you over nine weeks vacation in less than six months?
If congress doesn't act before the end of June, student loan rates will double. Both parties agree this should not happen, but republicans want to pay for it by cutting - what else? Women's health care. Democrats want to pay for it by raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires. So the big losers here will either be students, women, or millionaires and billionaires, while the speaker plays golf. Is this a great country or what?

I'm not sympathetic about student loan interest doubling. When students stopped working their way through school thats when they started feeling "entitled" to a cheap deal. Why should the workingman and workingwoman subsidize this.

The left view i guess, blame corporations. My father came here at 23 in 1924 and worked like a dog to provide for us.He thought us you work for what you want in life.Nothing is promised to anyone. We have kids told to go to school and follow their dreams. Not research what kind of degree would be in demand and pay well.Everybody wants to blame someone else, maybe they should look in the mirror. Can't find a job, reinvent yourself do something other then bitch.making money is not that hard if you try.Problem is to many are spoiled and can't fend for them self's including baby boomers. And yes I know what school costs my daughter went on to law school. And she had to easy. All the money she needed for grad school she could borrow. And also agree with posh, see to many of my sons friends in debt that will never be able to pay back.Made it way to easy for them to get buried in debt.

He does not need congress with all the ways he has found to circumvent congress and with a wave of his magic staff we have new rules and regulations.
First of all I don't believe that everyone NEEDS to go to college. It is a mill for creating new progressives. The left needs this mill to keep their dream alive.
College is a privilege not a right. It is a personal decision to go to college and to figure out how to pay for it. If you or your parents don't have the means to pay for it then you get loans or grants. These are contracts and you agree to pay for them in exchange for the education. There is no right for it to be cheap or free unless that was agreed to before hand.
Students have been brainwashed into believing that they MUST go to college to be successful but there are many ways to to get a good job or career. One of the lost arts is getting a job and working your way up!
Interest rates constantly change and I don't see why students should have some sort of guarantee of constant or low interest rates unless that was part of the contract.

A college education has become a left wing conspiracy to create progessives? :grumpy:

Question: Why does a President need czars?
Question: Do you believe this to be a rhetorical question?
Question: Is a czar in some instances better than a member of Congress?
Question: Based on Obama's behavior do you believe he believes the rest of the country behaves in the same manner as Chicago when it comes to the issue of politics?
Question: Has Obama lived up to his promise of a transparent administration/government?
Question: Has Obama lived up to his pledge of hope and change?
Question: Do you believe based on Obama's comments concerning America as not being exceptional and his continuing apologies to foreign governments an indication that he has international leanings vis a vis nationalisn?
Question: Do you believe Obama is up front with the American people about the nations concerns?
Question: Do you believe based on Obama's performance to date that he is deserving of another term in office?
Question" Do you believe in this day of technology that we really need 435 representatives and 100 senators?
Question: Do you believe if the number of congressional members were reduced we could end the gridlock?

Did not say that. I said a MILL for turning out new progressives.
They have found and stated many years ago that education is the KEY to getting young minds to to think the way they want. And it is not just college.
It starts in year one! It has been a long term plan well documented and talked about over the last few decades.
Thank God that not all that come out of college think that way or it would be over by now and we would be just another European country! I would like to see more independents come out of college with more concern for how they are going to add to the economy. When it comes to the social issues, let them let their freak flag fly!
I would like to see fiscally conservative gay, fiscally conservative black, fiscally conservative women, fiscally conservative Latino, fiscally conservative (place dem. developed group name here).
But if you are in one of their groups you have to buy into all the other S!$$
that they believe in.
What I mean is that the left has found a great home in college to turn out more people like them. Plain and simple!

In answer to a few of Rubicon's questions:
1. I have no idea of where the term "czar" came from when taken in the context of our government. However, from what I know of it when I was in Washington a few years ago, a "czar" is an expert in some specified field who is hired to give advise to one of the cabinet heads or the President. I have a friend who was dubbed "steam czar" by the Washington Post as he was the government expert on the steam tunnels that connected all the government buildings downtown. In government titling, there is no such official title as "czar" but would be called a "special assistant".
2. Regarding the number of Representatives and Senators - The number of senators is set by the Constitution and the representatives is set by the Constitution by population - I do not know who decided 435 - but it is on the population of the state. Do we need that many? Probably not but it would take an act of Congress to change it and would Congress vote to downsize itself?
3. Based on Pres. Obama's 3.5 years in office, should we elect him again? To me, the answer is "Yes".

The Government will have to hire some czars to figure this out. They will probably meet in Vegas.

That's not what Czars have become in government. Czars don't answer to anyone to the President and they have real power bestowed by the President that circumvent Congressional Authority in many cases.

Nope, old buddy, you have that wrong.
I would also challenge you to find an official title in the Office of Personnel Management titles in any Federal agency of "Czar".

It seems there is plenty of evidence of "Czars" exercising real power and not just "advising" or "assisting" as you naively postulate.
You can skim through (I know you will not actually read them) the stories I've provided. I also know you will knock the publications, even though they quote actual sources; as if the vast left wing media would even consider running a story like these.
I can link many more, if you like.

Technically, yes. The difference is that the Bush "czars" were what you thought czars still were, and that is advisors.
Obama's "czars" have unaccountable power.

Umm, no, I don't think you chalk this up on your corner. You admit that George W. had as many or more "czars" as Pres. Obama. Both presidents had these special advisors and appointed them in the same way. Downright amazing that even you understand both use them in the same way, appoint them in the same way, that you still hold onto your worn out party line that Pres. Obama's special advisors are a terrible thing.
Once again, racking Phyllis Schlafly up in your corner was a great coup. Keep it up, old buddy.

It all in the matter of usage. Obama's so called czars have been given true power, where Bush's were not.
