We have a screen Lanai on our Austin and do NOT want to close it in but tired of all the rain and dirt coming in. Thinking about putting a 20ft stationary awning on it. Has anyone been happy with this result.

a sunsetter would help with the rain or sun if you don't have a roof but not the dirt have you looked into have the bottom of the lanai a solid surface would keep some of the rain splashing in

We put gutters on the house & Lanai and that stopped the spattering and dirt. Not sure that is the source of you problem. Hills did a great job and it was inexpensive.

We have those area rugs that you buy at Lowes or Home Depot or Frontgate that don't hold water and never mold. I use the vacuum on them. We hose down the porches frequently. The screen itself holds all this ugly construction dust that flies around. I like an open screen porch (aka lanai) but many close them in.
I keep thinking when the construction moves on and away it will be better...when all the sod is down, all around us.

We, too, thought we would never enclose our lanai because we liked the open feeling. However, we tired of the rain & dirt & puddles of water after a heavy rain that we had to mop up or sweep out through a tiny space between the concrete. So, we got the best of both worlds & had full-length acrylic sliders installed last Sept after 4 long years. Since they are full length we get a lot of ventilation and can adjust how many sliders to open depending on the weather. We wish we had done it sooner.

KittyKat, would you please tell us who did your full-length sliders?
